This is a bug that used to be around years ago back in like 2019, 2020 where if you queued into a game of deathrun and had a cape equipped from your locker, it would go with you even if you left to the hub or went into another gamemode. It would stay on you as long as you didn't leave the server or like change costumes. It looks like that bug is back but man it's been years since I've seen it.

on a serious note though, if you have trouble with those water pockets, just go around them. It'll be slower but you won't die to them at least.

yeah I'm serious. I imagine that the reason you die to the water there is because you try to cut it inside and jump over it right? If that's the reason you keep dying there, going around would be slower but it would be playing it safe since you'd be avoiding the water entirely.
