I think the way it works is that you actually get the weird "double jump" glitch but since you're also still touching water at the same time it negates your fall damage and you can land safely on the ground

Jokes aside its literally mostly just muscle memory and doing the same path every time which gives me a high chance of making it

I can give two tips tho:

1. Walk in at the top of the stage, for some reason jumping in makes the portal skip infinitely harder
2. Try to get into the portal with one sprint, meaning do not reset your sprint while approaching the portal. If you do need to adjust slightly, use a and d (or the equivalent on a controller) because slight adjustments are easier that way

the only reason the portal skip is possible is that the way the portal teleporting you and you dying is somehow processed differently

meaning that with high enough ping you can portal skip even though you should die

thats how a portal skip on dungeon is possible

however its definitely not viable to go for in runs as high ping obviously slows you down tremendously

but I do agree that the WR can be improved slightly, Road Trip portal skip with a jump at the top could save another 100ms or more and then a better Data could also bring the time down further
