#why do people hate on rooms 2.0 so much
119 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
- Yeah, it is REALLY buggy.
- They pushed it wayyyy too hard when people didn't want it and it was unfinished
- For most games that are being made on Rec Room, the complications of Rooms 2.0 can lead to more games and more creative ones, but the cons just outweigh the pros.
what bugs?
they did kind of push it too hard
Every single time I've tried to create using R2 it has encountered bugs that completely stopped any creation.
A more common one was object hitboxes getting displaced from the physical object appearances.
Objects not cloning properly despite everything being set up correctly.
Sometimes code just... didn't run when ran?
Not only that, until something more complicated will come my way, the new complications just aren't needed for what I'm getting out of using it. I'm good with the heirachery, it's not the first time I've used systems like it, but my friend who is the modeler for all of my games, doesn't understand it at all and has had trouble learning it, therefore creating messes that I'd have to clean up which I just don't have the will for considering what I'd get in return.
ive never experienced objects not cloning right and my circuits have never just failed for no reason
yeah sometimes the hitboxes get all moved around
im pretty sure using invisible collision fixes that though
if you have an incompetent builder who refuses to learn that is 100% on your builder not rooms 2.0
rooms 2.0 is barely more complex than rooms 1.0
He's not incompetent, and he has more than definitely spent hours in rooms with me trying to learn it, whether from me, a tutorial, or someone else, he just has trouble understanding it. And with the release of Limits V2 returning, no use for learning it any further than the basic knowledge he was able to learn (for now).
That is a complete lie. The point of R2 is to be a more complex and deep coded version for more advanced developers alike, to grant more tools for those who feel the need to use them.
its not more complex name one thing thats more complex
- The hierarchy system is completely different to how Rooms 1 handles in-game objects.
- Coding is more in-depth, purposely so in order to accommodate for more complicated gizmos such as the replicator.
- A lot more menus, settings, buttons and everything all around meant to experienced developers to use at discretion.
- It's what they use for everything that could be made into a Unity standard quality game, such as custom pathfinding.
- It's also the starting point for Rec Room Studio rooms, an offset of the accommodations made for the in-depth development.
the hierarchy is quite different but not more complex
its a simple parent system
you arent forced to use more complex gadgets like replicator
for 3 uhh ?
for 4 uhh ?
for 5 uhh ?
The fact that he couldn't even make excuses for 3 of the points.
Yes, the hierarchy system is more complex, so much more in fact, that they didn't even bother to implement it to R1 when they were still working on that.
2. You aren't forced to, but they're a major focus of R2. If you're not using them, you're better off just using a Limits V2 R1
for 3 uhh ? stands for what the hell do you mean?
To boil it down, R2 has a lot more settings and things to look at and look for, which is much more complicated than R1 on all terms due to the sheer amount of properties you can change in comparison.
your not forced to use all of those things like ever
you could do things the exact way you could in room 1.0
more is not more is not always more complex
most things are also labeled very clearly
One of the things that are apart of those are Player Properties, which replace over roles. You have to change player properties individually, granting more customization, but making it harder to keep track of stats and minor details unlike the roles systems.
easier*
You're not even going to make arguments at this point (because you can't), so I'm not gonna waste my time here.
you dont have to believe what i say because its your opinion
I agree with jester. It is more complicated. Although I do find the new system for organising parts a bit easier. I haven't used it though because every time I've tried 2.0 I've had many issues.
Many of my old maps and creations wouldent move over well. Leading to crashing, improper hit boxes, extreme lag, and more.
Are you a vr builder?
I agree
And before anyone wants to debate, no, I have no argument, I just think it's cool
Yeah blawg watch your mouth im not incompetent and could model WAYYYY better then you can lol
it wasnt an insult
And ive tried but new features feel unneeded for the building part and just kinda ehh, and the fact they just republished LimitsV2 is all we needed AND NOW WE CAN'T BE STOPPED
if you are so insecure about it then maybe you should get better
-0.1/10 ragebait
Trust me i'm not insecure, i'm fully aware of the capabilitys of what my two man team is capable of. We've made a big smash hit and thats enough to keep me trucking'
trying to make me feel bad for being worse at building wont work
im probably multiple steps above you at ciruciting in almost every way
You also like dragons? :D
Yea
Thats cool, I dont touch circuits. But I don't think you've been building for 5+ years
You're my friend now we're having soft taco's later :D
We gotta play some dnd.
Never played but i'd be down one day
But just letting you know I like the normal kind of dragons but. . . .my bio says enough
Its a peak game.
Hints, I like the idea of fluffy dragons
As long as its not in a weird way...
Bro said something completely random bc he was outmatched and dipped
nah nah
I just cosplay as fluffy dragons in games
Well actually I just cosplay as animals online but yeh
Alright. I like dragons. I have no problem with that.
Anyways, we prob shouldent talk in the thread.
Atleast about this.
Yeah, this has become useless anyways bc this absolute cornball insulted me
Anyone got some popcorn?
its in my hands right now
Also, I can understand why this new system is hard to get used to. I dont even really like it.
:3 yay
Yeah its a good concept just wayyyyyy done wrong
I'm craving soda rn but its WAYYY to late for that
It’s never too late to drink that
You just not gonna respond? that's okay with me lol
Its 2:47 am
Yeah that’s what I told my beer but guess what? I still had a sip
I also prob shouldn't be talking when I have less than 2 hours of usage due to crashing and other bugs with 2.0
why should i respond
your not on topic so im not giving you a response
One question, is it me or has recroom been dying?
You're the one off topic
#1114546406674419864
It has but their doing better
Yes
Like they brought back LimitsV2, getting rid of AI slowley
They're finally listening to their fanbase'
I like limits v2, although I might just start using real game engines.
I’ve been seeing too much AI on recroom lately
Ik it makes me sick, I bet Social Rep def supports RR ai slop
I wanna go back to 2018 sometimes
I sadly never played back then, yet I started in 2020
But I would say I seen RR at a good time
The only thing ai is good for is tasks that are long boring and easy. Ive been using it to make long roll tables for dnd. But I never let it do lore, puzzles, or backstories.
Back then it was so good, although I should have avoided military and mafia rp games cause those places get toxic
But they got 10x worse today
Ive only been in one Military when I was younger and havent touched those since
And because of that they died
You know, after years of a passion to hit big in game developing one day i've finally reached my goal now me and my only other developer friend is laying back in our riches
Crazy that OP decided to quit.
I even have my own fanbase, even if its small its still a community and thats all ive ever asked for
What games have you helped create?
Usually im a lead on all of my games, but me and Jester made a game called
"UntitledFightingGame2" and its sitting at 25,7k room visits rn
Also I use to work with Adryan a guy who now works with Dino
Yeah its been one hell of a journey, but its been a enjoyable one
Ever since I was a little kid I had a desire to make my own games, this was created by Roblox. My mind had endless possibilities for games and now that RR allows me to make games I can do what ive always dreamed of doing. Now I can go on and inspire kids to do the same, even if its just one small kid I can plant the courage and intentions for the future generations and I rest well at night that I make peoples day
Ive always tried to make decent games. Ive slowly drifted away from the programming aspect. I still enjoy building but I've gotten more into computer hardware.
Thats nice, im too dumb to model on any sofwares like Unity or blender so I use RR and I can make some pretty good models
And make awesome games that people play
Lol, I've tried blender but wasn't understanding it. I m8ght get into it again so I can 3d print stuff for dnd.
Peak
Dawg one problem I have with RR is its always crashing me, and its not my interent nor my vr its brand new pratically. ITs their servers or lag
Like today I was remaking Sky SquidGame from Squidgames and my RR crashed 5 times
This is why I don't build in rec room anymore. Last room I published the game rules got corrupted right when I launched. I spent hours with no fix and eventually had to make a clone of the room and reset most the code. Stuff like that made me quit.
Yeah same thing happened to us. During developement of a game RR crashes out the game or makes the lag unstandable so we just cant even work on the game and its a lost cause
But its okay one massive game loss can't stop me nor Jester
gimme a second I feel the soda wearing off I need more brb
It didn't stop me. I think the game is still up but it definitely has copyright music and I dont give a crap about rec room anymore so...
yeh
Honestly i'm suprised RR hasnt been copyrighted or smthn like that
All of my games are off of already existing IP's
Lol
