Technical and development purposes. I'm not a game developer nor do I work for Rec Room but I'd imagine a big motivating factor was ease of future development. Moving bean to the same systems that FBA uses unifies the two body types on a tenchinal level and I would imagine that makes it easier to work with

Also classic bean is just an old system, and mataining that system on top off all the new avatar stuff they have been doing isnt really sustainable

Also optimization is another part. Rec Room's biggest platforms are weaker systems and they benefit from any optimization they can get

Old bean wasn't the worst optimized thing in the world ofc but it wasn't exactly as performant as it could be and it wasn't built with the lower-end platforms in mind

(And by lower-end I mean Quest primarily)

And it kinda comes back to technical because I'd imagine optimizing the bean avatar would've been a really huge task if they stuck with the old system

It's a huge task either way but in the long-term it's the better choice to take the time to update it to the new system and do a full rework than to attempt to patch up a near decade-old avatar system that likely had large technical issues that aren't player-facing

Money reasons aside, RR already explained why they remade the bean and they had really valid reasons to do so.

The whole game is in a bad shape optimizations wise. The new avatars and Rooms 2.0 are them trying to fix the game by making more robust foundations to make the game run better. (Eventually anyways, because R2.0 isn't really there yet)

But I do think new bean is somewhat of an improvement, at least to me.
There are features I've wanted on it for a while such as glove pointing or grabbing animations

Enough is enough can we all agree they’re just removing it for a good reason I understand maybe People still cares about the old bean and I’m so tired of people doing #KeepOldBean & #KeepClassicBean can we shut up about it because it’s been like two days about this announcement and like I’m not trying to be that guy but the people who still use the old been it’s time to move on I know a lot of stuff is changing in rec room I know for a fact a lot of avatars are changing but you know life move on and we have a deal with it I’m not trying to be saying you should switch to UBA but listen I know so many people who use costumes, making cool outfits, or making on outfits for their entertainment we don’t need all this fighting over which one is better we’re all in the same community and we should appreciate what is rec room doing for us I understand so many of my friends who don’t like the new upgrading bean avatar I completely understand I know it’s hard to get used of new change we have to deal with FBA and look how it leads us to know some people still like full body and some people still don’t but we still give it a chance and I know for a fact that UBA can maybe get the same cans at the FBA I don’t want people fighting over the stupid argument about rec room is dying and all this can we all agree rec room try their best and what they can do please I’m just asking 🧡

I'm guessing from the feedback to this update that it's not a small minority of people who prefer the old bean, and rec room probably know this. So I'm still just confused at why they didn't port the old design with the same movements on to a new code so it's stable

Well I'm guessing it's to add features easier and waste less resources, instead of wasting resources on different body models with different cloth models, make a body that you can modify the proportions of with the clothes adjusting automatically

But would've been cool if it did feel accurate to the models

To me that sounds like it would be more work because wouldn't you then have to adapt all of the new clothing to work with different sized bodies rather than having set sizes with classic beans
