The only slight protest I've seen from others is canceling their subscriptions, but that's all that comes to mind.

The game is literally fine

#

And with the new in-depth avatar customization they just announced today, there's things to be excited for

Im willing to hear your side of this.

Ugh I was about to go to bed too. I just think that people saying the game is horrible now are blowing everything out of proportion, and way too many older players hate seeing the game change or evolve in any way.

I hate the new watch gui

I see what you are getting at. And yes some changes like fullbody were overhated. They were a fine change that we got used to. However Rec Room was better in the past, It seems more as if they are making changes that benefit the company more than the game.

Im sure these changes if were made a long time ago would have been fine. However RR has slowly lost its theme and social value. But thats mainly due the toxic commmunity. RR has done almost nothing to help fix the things that everyone has complained about. Which is why people just kinda gave up and are now hating

I still have to switch so many tabs and such to get to things it just feels random

Doesn't feel better to me

The reason they're doing things that benifit the company nowardays, is because before they just weren't raking in much money, plain and simple. Since it was a much smaller project in it's earlier years, with few team members, they could do whatever they wanted. But now that there's millions of players, and the game is much much larger, they have so much more to manage, like paying their employees and running the servers. They're a company, of course they need to make money.

#

It's definitely a lot nicer on the eyes

#

Less clutter too

ashen kraken

Not to me

I get it we have different views on it why cant they just add a toggle like the bean bodys

I understand needing to make money. But there becomes a time when you neglect one part of the game for too long. Which has caused this negative enviroment to spawn. Money-Hungry Rooms and Ignited games. RR has yet to notice how bad it is and take these down. They have neglected that for so long that they are starting to lose people. And i fear they wont have much left once they manage to balance stuff.

And not everyone leaves due to the game's state. Some people just leave because they simply lost their touch with the game, and wanna move on

twilit furnace
#

Which being social is the MAIN part of RR's advertising.

fathom olive
#

I blame people in that case. The heck is RR supposed to do about it. People complain when voice mod works, and when it doesn't work, there's no winning. People just need to be nice. When the game has so many people, there's bound to be some horrible people. That's unavoidable in a social game.

I must be getting lucky, because I can still meet loads of nice people

In all different types of rooms

Maybe lol. But look, you're not gonna change my mind about the game. Can we just agree to disagree so I can finally go to bed?

twilit furnace

I didnt think it was an argument more of an Debate. But yea sure lol

Alright cool lol. Good night

To be fair, this is a 9 year old game now give or take. Live service games are becoming the norm with most companies and Rec Room realistically made it father than most of those games. For almost 5 of those years, Rec Room has been relatively the same game to those who only play in the social side of the game. As much as I love Rec Room, having dabbled in every side of the community from building, to contest wins, to socializing, to playing RROs, to teaching makerpen classes, etc. I can honestly say, if the game were eventually announce they were shutting down at a specific effective date, I personally wouldn't be too sad because it definitely did have a good run, and even more so gave me really good memories!
Sometimes even the greatest of social game titans fall eventually. I miss PlayStation Home so much 😭

Ok

frigid salmon
# grim marsh were u a psvr player?

Used to play PSVR when first starting the game. Switched to quest 2 the day of its release.

But by PlayStation Home, that was a old PS3 game in which was a social game just like Rec Room. It shut down due to it not being as successful towards its western audience.

grim marsh

I can find no VR players in any games. i used to play

Like backroomsallseeing

Backrooms escape

quests

#

Also i friended only vr players from 2022

frigid salmon
# grim marsh Do you think Rec Room VR is actually dead?

Through alot of financial decisions Rec Room has been going through, I do believe they are definitely focusing a lot less on the standard of VR and catering alot more towards screen based stuff more.

One large example of this was during when the changed the way Monthly Map Challenges worked by making it so that mobile devices was its own category of visits/playtime vs every other console. Definitely probably not profitable to focus solely on VR anymore since it's such a niche console that most people refuse to own.

# grim marsh Is this why gorilla tag is doing better than recroom

Well gorilla Tag is a forced VR experience. I wouldn't really know if it's doing better or worse since I dont personally play the game, but Rec Room as of right now I believe is just going through a lot of hard financial times due to over staffing, and lower player counts. Alot of game companies unfortunately have suffered through these issues since end of a pandemic that essentially boosted their numbers.

grim marsh
#

Right now the peak was 72 K.

#

A few days ago.

frigid salmon
#

That's pretty good for what that game is! I only ever played the game maybe 3 times. 3rd time I played it I almost broke my window in my room so I stopped because of it lol

grim marsh
#

damn

grim marsh
#

And because of stick drift

#

recroom died from that

#

That was a quest two issue.

frigid salmon
#

Yeah, and because stick drift is very common on Quest Devices, it definitely does become another reason why people stop playing VR altogether

grim marsh
#

that was meta fault

#

Meta did that on purpose.

#

And ended up killing games like Rec Room.

#

And I think gorilla tag figured that out.

#

Maybe a long time ago.

#

Meta did that to make more money.

frigid salmon
#

Well, stick drift I suppose is just one of many flaws that exist for every game. But I will say Meta did very much cheap out on their controllers for quest 2. Unfortunately, that was really the only decent VR system that was affordable to most consumers during its time. One of my biggest gripes about the current gen consoles is the fact that there isn't the ability to purchase cheaper third party controllers like you used to be able to with older consoles

grim marsh
#

And I ended up getting three headsets entirely.

#

Instead of could've just brought controllers.

#

Cuz I didn't know what the issue was.

frigid salmon
#

Very silly on metas part
