I finally figured out a way to repro it consistently yesterday

exciting update: I'm pretty sure we have a solution for the extra navigation friction WW introduces. I just tested out some fresh changes that keep your place if you do something like click Play, navigate around a bit, then go into a different menu, then back to Play

as long as we get it into a state we're happy with, it would theoretically ship the week of 5/5

I’m gonna be honest about this update.
First of all, I dislike the lightning menu. Second, widget watch, despite being responsive, feels clunky especially on console where there is a white cursor for some reason that spawns in the middle of the screen. And why is WW so tiny?? It feels like a nightmare for accessibility. And while it’s been made clear by the community, it really needs to feel more consistent. There are three UI styles present in the game, all of them drastically different, and very disorienting.

I like where it’s headed, though, and hope to see improvement. I believe in quothy!

We'll be rolling out some changes in a few weeks that are going to try to address the open/close behavior you mentioned was frustrating and the cursor resetting to the middle of the screen (that one drives me crazy too). We started the first WW split test on March 5th, so it's been less than 2 months so far 🤷‍♀️

We have two main reasons we're delaying the VR version:

1. We only have so many people on the team and need to make sure we can ship the non-VR version first.
2. We want to make sure we take the time to make it a good VR experience rather than rushing it.

One suggestion i would love to see. Please add Diffrent watch clicking and opening sounds from older menu to mid new to widget watch sounds that would be sick to see, cause some people prefer older sounds of watch and other newer

To make a temp fix with the CV2 for it to work with WW you gotta put a delay for 0.2 seconds after the “on prompt completion” wire the after delay into cancel on the delay and the cancel into the execution integer switch and it’ll work as intended

I found this to be a go to for a working fix for my prompts for the time being

Two weeks ago, we started two split tests:

1. Quick Access panel: Rooms vs Room Categories
   We wanted to understand if showing you all rooms or room categories better helps you all find more fun things to do. Room Categories ended up being more helpful, which was a bit surprising because we were limited on what categories we could show.
2. UX friction improvements: Remembering UI state
   This change was a simple test to see if remembering what you were doing on the UI when you closed and re-opened was more beneficial than always opening up to WW. Remembering UI state was the winner here, though not as strongly as we expected (more UX improvements to come next week!).

This week, we're starting one (more) split test:

1. More Room categories: We're adding more categories to see if that helps you all have some fun. There are three groups total: two have the extra categories and one of those brings back the Consumables widget from the initial split test.

I don't know the tool directly, but I expect the kind of things it does are exactly the same as the kinds of things hacking tools do. And so, EAC blocks it. It might actually work this month while we're working on new Referee features, but it'll amost 100% go away again soon.

okay - split test update. I have a new one for you today. We're back to trying out some improvements to the UX around using WW. Last split test was centered around whether or not it was better to remember what UI you were on the last time you closed it.

The split test has three different groups:

• Control: Exactly what you have now, no changes
• Group 1: What you have now, but also the buttons on the Portal panel remember where you were the last time you were in them and (on Screens) the cursor doesn't reset position when you go back & forth between WW and other UI
• Group 2: Portal buttons remember where you were last and (on Screens) the cursor doesn't reset position when you go back & forth between WW and other UI. However, we do not save what UI you were on when you close & reopen

This will be going live shortly for players on the latest version of Rec Room. Please let us know what you think if you notice any differences! We're especially interested in how PC & Console players feel about the cursor behavior change

When it comes to moderating I am always have to keep opening my watch and closing it if need to recall back some chat logs that a user said. Plus keeping the kick menu open most of the time when I know someone is about the break the code of conduct so I just get the kick menu ready with a reason so I can kick them faster then they can continue.

To also add to the first part as well the user might do some nsfw things towards me or someone else so i need to be in the moment to catch it and log it without having to re-find the user and click multiple times to get back to what i was reporting.

Yes most of the time when i go to a event the recent page will have already lost them as it never sorts by last seen and only 20 players will be shown. So i always end up having to record my pov so i can remember the user and look them up

i feel like my experience with WW was... very polarizing, to say the least.

I only got to try it out on the first test, so no luck with seeing any of the improvements, but I was having a hard time figuring out which menus were which the whole time I had it.

Not only that, but i think the 'Half-Screen' coverage is weird. enough to a point where i think having it cover the majority of the screen, with transparency to see through it, would make it more comfortable to use.

I also think the aspect ratio would be problematic for VR players, when it releases for them, because all the buttons are tighter together, making it potentially easier to 'fat-finger' the buttons.

I think the optimizations to lag is good, and the concept of more visibility is good as well. I just think the execution, especially for control on mobile screens, is a bit too compact, and the attempt to introduce visiblity was done poorly.

Still had issues with it on mobile, and would love to see a possible 'Expanded layout' option that spreads the menu out farther. I think Eagle's layout is a good example of what id like to see for both VR and as a toggle for screens.
