ive been trying to experiment with lerp, but cant seem to figure it out. Does anybody have a video or pictures to help me undestand?

Lerp is Linear Interpolation. With a value of 0.5, it gets halfway in between the inputs.

so basically a straight line between 2 points, or a range between values?

Yeah

Slerp is that but spherical, so it's a curvy line.
