#RecRoom Needs Work.

The personalization is for hot page not for new page, and the play tab is all the and it's just the new tab that's flooded with the same games. The hot page has stayed the same for such a long time so the play tab is the same
it's also for the recommended section too, as well as where carousels are
My answer stays the same. The play tab is the same. The recommended is the same as well
The only thing different is the featured rooms
based on what i've been able to see, my guess as to how it personalizes it is based on tags
and because of cash grabbers putting too many tags on their room, the system thinks it's the kind of game you enjoy playing cause of the tags on it
Yes I know
one thing i will say is they haven't really handled rros properly recently, they wanna show us what we can do with rrs and a new tool they wanna show off, we already know what they can do, plus the room isn't gonna be as good as any of the hardcoded rros
and we cannot make our own rros like how they want us to do with quests, even if we could make our own rro quest it still wouldn't be an rro, it'd be another community game, and let's not forget that you'd need at least someone to be willing to make an rro style quest, if they really care about it getting visits then they could advertise it
in-game and outside the game
make an ad for it, an in-game announcement
I’m 100% convinced that rr does not do beta testing. Like you said, yes every game has bugs. But some are so noticeable, it makes you wonder if they put any thought into the update at all.
For example, full body’s were worked on for almost 2 years. And it was the buggiest thing I ever saw in rr which is saying a lot.
Belt like items would go on you head, they accidentally brought back a super rare item. If you put on a specific item, your body would scale and twist into weird conditions, you could stretch your arms really far, and that’s bearably a fraction of the bugs. They had for ever to test even the slightest of things.
Like it’s mind boggling to think about a game that lets this much bugs past.
Anyways that was a long rant.

from Petey Parker on Limits V2
“The rooms that have LimitsV2 enabled have low performance and we can't put more time into fixing that issue, which is why we are investing more time into Rooms 2.0 and its unlimited ink feature. We didn't want more rooms to be created with LimitsV2 and continue having the same performance issues so pushing folks to Rooms 2.0 and understanding what we can do to make it the better default is where we wanted to put our efforts in.”
It was an experiment and expecting any maintenance on it was prob in poor taste. It was pretty clear you could expect it to not last long.
If recroom cared about "Performance" memory leakage would have been fixed a long time ago.
The crash rate would not be so high
And vr players wouldn't crash to there dorms
RR definitely does care about memory leakage / usage. It's been said multiple times that their priority internally is improving memory-related issues, and it's evident. The changes have been made clear in my own rooms--with more overhead memory, I've definitely seen reduced crash rates. I think discrediting them as "not caring about performance" or other related issues definitely isn't correct.
This blogpost gives some nice graphs, too: https://rec.net/creator/p/ram-room-engagement
I'm not saying RR isn't without issues, but they're clearly making an effort. LimitsV2 was an extremely limited rollout anyways, it only made its way into a majority of the public's hands because of a copyable room 🤷♂️
I understand completely that recroom does make an effort to change performance. It's very hard for performance to be better with all the bugs within recroom. If recroom had a beta testing type of thing then maybe they could test updates so that way we can get a better outcome on updates. There aware that when an update goes out that one thing gets fixed and another thing breaks because of that fix. But they dont do anything about it to fix it? That's why they need testers.
Look at vr chat for example. They have an open beta that players can opt into the get newer things and to test them as well. So instead of sending out an update you think it's correct. You can play test it on your local engine and maybe then we could have a better game overall
