Maybe.
Knowledge is power, but it's a matter of quantity over quality. There are more people who have used another's VR compared to those who actually own one in the US. If they never owned one, and chose to stick with their nearest neighbor's VR, they're gonna have to gain some kind of experience so they may be well-versed in it.
Idk if there are more people out there like that, but from my experience as a screen mode player, I always learn with my older brother's VR, which he doesn't use at all so I have more time just working with it than he does. Just one in a million, I guess.
I litteraly learn from my google cardboard rig, it isn’t the best but it sometime works
I even managed to make a homemade 3Dof controller with driver 4vr and an air mouse
