didnt see the vid, but its pretty well known to not work as reliably.
If your specifically looking for something cubular, use overlap box. Otherwise overlap sphere.
I also heard collision volume or sumn in beta which is mostly for weapons might be better, but its bean/capsule shaped

Just give tags to the drink things & use get all with tag for a get closest, & if distance of player & closest drink thingy us less than the desired detection radius, then do something. I would set a bool variable to the less than (or equal to) at 30 or 60hz & so long as the drinks are well spaced it, it should be fine
Just replace the trigger volume for a new one
