No deranged rant this time, just something I was thinking about: So when you save a room, everything goes low poly, until it’s selected by the maker pen. I always used to think this was something done to improve performance on lower spec hardware, as rec room on pc won’t give you the low poly models. But if that is the case, why doesn’t our dorms ever load in low poly models on the lower end hardware? It has the same ink limit, on top of the extra features like the mirror, and whatnot. Just something I was thinking about

It's called Level of Detail (LoD). Certain models have lower levels of detail to provide the performance needed for lower end systems. For Quest 2 and other mobile devices, it is so they can load it and not "blow up" from trying to load all those polygons and high details textures.
But why can Dorm rooms load with the higher LoD models without issue?
Because they are technically the only space that is capable of being offline and they are limited to 4 people and a very small space compared to any other room. You are not going to load into your dorm and have 3 to 39 other people already in the room waiting on you.
