Part of another split test. Some have it, some don't, but it is more like a way to get people to use the menu to find rooms instead of dropping in the first time to the toxic pool of the Rec Center.

In Orientation you don't. You "earn" it at the end, or some split testing seems at the beginning.

Yes, some just have a single room now, the box and a bunch of other things is just in the starting room.
Some can select to straight up skip orientation on the character screen
