No, commissions are fine. From an economical standpoint it's not a good idea to sell it to only 1 person but it's nice to be valued in the community

You see, a commission is economically different from an invention. With commissions you generally might put in more effort for greater pay on the spot. With in invention it might be less effort put in and the money would flow in less but over time there’s the chance that your invention gains popularity and starts paying out more and more.

One is much more stable while the other is a bit of a long term gamble.

I mean it all depends on how specific the request is. A rank/mod system would be highly needed and would sell a ton as an invention, while a custom weapon designed specifically for the person would not do so well in wholesale.
