It’s been discussed it’ll be too much money and they’ll need to update a bunch of programs or somthing
Nah it will or else they'll be losing a huge portion of players since basically every ps5 user wil be getting a psvr2
So money money
Doubtful. A percentage of PS5 users will and have purchased the PSVR2, but then of those that percentage is even lower of those that will play Rec Room. They reported out of 60 million users, 9 million of those were in VR. A huge portion of that was most likely Quest users as $300 is a lot easier to handle than the $499 for a PS5 AND $549 for a PSVR 2. Sure, they want to get as many players in the game as they can, but PSVR2 is not a huge market at the moment. Eventually, it might get there, especially as more games come out.
It's not about it being too much money, it is about the Unity engine needing to be upgraded to support PSVR2. Currently Rec Room is on Unity 2020. In order to support PSVR2 basic, they have to be on 2021. To support eye tracking, they have to be on 2022. The last time they made an upgrade to the engine, there were a lot of unforeseen issues. If they were to jump straight from 2020 to 2022, it would probably mean the end of many old creator rooms. Circuits would be broken, lights might not work as intended and who knows what else. However, Rec Room has to move up eventually as even Unity is stopping the support for 2020 versions. With the upcoming release of RRStudio I would think that they have even more incentive to update the engine. Once they do, then it shouldn't be to much of a problem to add PSVR2 support. But, expect a big update for Rec Room before they do.
