he's saying why didn't they just fix the 5k bad scores rather than rolling back
don't you reckon it's a pretty logistical problem to solve though
from the lack of server logic to the innocent users having their scores increased
unless the score is like 2 billion, it wouldn't be super obvious it was hacked

because fixing 5 thousand scores is hard
why not just make one code that can do it for you
Rec Room claims to have "millions" or players, yet they sacrifice their efforts in legitimately playing the game over possibly 5,000 people having cheated at it.
I mean, imagine you were the guy they told to go through 5,000 different accounts of cheating and revert them all
one by one
taking weeks
I have, used to manage a lot of data at my last job. It is a database, easy to sort. search, compare and modify. It is data.
Compare the database from the 4th to the 27th, any numbers higher than what could be a reasonable number, just say 1000 for example, delete or revert. Sure, it takes 1 person some time to go through what, 20 RRO games and their various leaderboards, but that over the effort of "millions" or players just goes to show what they put value in.
but then theres also people who only added a few hundred / thousand
which would fly under the radar
and get away with it
where as here, nobody did
and that kid that just spent 2 weeks playing 30 games of showdown a day so that he could get into the top 100 again, trashed, because of someone else that did something wrong and someone that doesn't want to put in the effort.
Bottom line, hackers won, thousands to millions of other players lost.
maybe it's engineering stupidity or something
maybe they don't store the date when the score was achieved in the database
maybe they can't easily iterate over the entire database and its easier to roll it back
or maybe they just don't want a single cheated score in there so they roll it back
but 4th can't be true because the cheats will always be there
