Many builders have stopped because of this “sorta new” ui.

The new ui was supposed to be much simpler right?

Wrong.

This is so confusing and the settings are are clumped up and is not organized enough.

For the love of god bring back the new ui!

I personally love all the additions and the easy of flow using the new ui.. but I must say that I think it's a little silly to throw it at you in one go especially for new builders so a simplified menu would be great for both new and old builders that are a bit more casual and don't need all that information

They went for Clean/Organised over Simplicity imo. The game is made for over twelves, which are usually competent enough to handle a screen. Some people left building behind because yes it made building a pain and we had to learn the menu twice. That was annoying tbf, my Reflexes made me click where the buttons used to be.

Bring back old ui in general

#

Less lag, more swag

Whoever pressed ❌ probably doesn’t use the makerpen tbh

#

Old UI needs to come back

#

Now I have to use the search bar to find anything

#

Old UI was faster and easier to work with

When dark mode comes out and we can detach the menu with all the other ones without it disappearing when we drop our maker pen I think then and only then I’ll argue this one is better

#

The white and orange gives me a headache and if they let us permanently detach it then it will take up a lot less space and that’s my main problem with it, I think the layout is better than the old in some cases though

We should bring back the typewriter and get off of this new fangled digital keyboard thing too. You know, cause I can't adjust to change and must demand everyone go back to using old clunky methods of how I want it....

I went from using the maker pen from 2017-2019 and coming back to the current pen in 2022 and it is so much better. There are so many more options per page, settings are mostly achieved on one page without having to rely on a few buttons per page. You can tear off pages anywhere you want them.

Do I like it all being flat and removing the majority of the VR feel, not al all. The coloring is a bit bright as well. But, it is much more streamlined and doesn't look like I am trying to learn my basic shapes in grade school again.

the new makerpen ui is only confusing to somebody who is experienced with the old ui. once you get used to it, its far more flexible and efficient than the old ui

the new menu is way harder to orient around yourself, I just want to have the ability to grab a handle and move it around like the old one

#

(and the buttons are really tiny for some reason)

Honestly their fault to stop adapting the game

#

I personally found it very easy to adapt and prefer the new ui

subtle slate
#

as someone that has never used the old UI before I think the new one is better. imo all the stuff in the old one looked the same, I have no idea how people were able to navigate it lol

My only problem is how the prop menu looks

subtle slate
#

ngl I do hate scrolling through the prop menu especially since the scrollbars just don't work

The old menu worked so well and I was familiar with it, and now I have to use a search bar to find anything

#

They should’ve at least left an old ui option, sort of like how they have certain legacy things

#

Legacy flying for example

While I agree that the old UI is simpler, I'm definitely saying it should not be brought back. It's now VERY outdated for the amount of content there is in the game. What should be focused on is indeed the props menu as yes, it IS difficult to find what looking for.

The problem with reimplementing the old ui however it that it was not designed to be updated. There were no room for extra buttons, no scrolling list, everything was limited. I'm mean the fact that the Palette menu exists is clear evidence of this issue since the ACTUAL old ui for the makerpen only had 20 buttons.

The new ui not only removed the palette menu but added heaps more features that are taken for granted like menu scrolling, detachable windows, A COLOUR PICKER, cv2 integration,

that's not the point lmao

# obsidian hull While I agree that the old UI is simpler, I'm definitely saying it should not be...

Adding on, there's also more in depth tools that have been added since the new UI, so if the old UI was added back it would be VERY bloated with pages and pages of buttons that all look the same. It would not only become increasingly difficult to navigate but very time consuming just to find one chip, or one prop. Plus when it comes the circuits, Each CV2 chip has its own dedicated menu that will need to be added, and because of how the old ui worked would bloat update sizes.
Also. The old UI was not designed for cross compatibility. It was only design with Virtual Reality in mind. And I don't know how many remember but the old buttons didn't always respond, or got accidentally pressed. That is also something the new UI aims to fix.

I think both UI's had pros and cons

The old makerpen UI is shit compared to the new UI; However, there are some aspects of it that were amazing and idk why we dont have them

  • Shapes, Materials, and Colors all being in one menu, do this for the Create tool
  • Settings being a different menu, its really cross having Tools and Settings merged

I do belive there should be a "Tool settings" thing, so if you select Recolor you get a Color and Material picker

But its gross that Circuits and Debugging and General Settings are on the same menu, I think Circuits and Logging should be one menu, aswell as Settings should be one menu

my only issue with the new UI is the pallet. it's inconvenient to use.

native tundra
#

@stiff plover idk for sure but I think they’re putting the swatches menu on the shapes menu

#

Reason I say is bcs when I pulled my palette menu out of my maker pen it was a new menu

#

And it didn’t have the swatches

#

But when I clicked on something it went back

#

Either my menu was buggin or it was a glitch and showed the new ui or smthn

#

I’m trying to get a screenshot of it
