The reason why under 13s have to be junior / can't talk etc relates to the industry standard laid out under the COPPA act (Child Online Privacy Protection)... It's there for a reason, to protect under 13s. It's a very interesting read, and you can see why RecRoom does what it does.

we will likely implement more fun and safe alternatives to junior mode in the future so they can sort of communicate with other players, but we're likely never going to make it so they can hear or talk with other players

I think a lot of conversations can happen over emote and gestures. Maybe having a more robust gesture/emote package could be beneficial for junior accounts. We all use emojis a lot that’s a relatively safe and universal way to communicate.

It's a tricky situation, but I think in the end the biggest factor is the saftey of junior accounts right? It'll take some time to figure out a intuitive way to have junior accounts be able to communicate.

Well, kids don't need to be exposeed to content that is unsafe for them, and giving them the ability to hear them juist makes them copy all the stuff they hear in game and use it in the real world. I ruined my own character IRL, and they shouldn't follow the path I went in

You can’t under the COPPA law. That’s why games ask your age. Rec room could get fined hundreds of thousands of dollars if they did that.
