Tbh it probably will be able to support Linux and macOS , main reason why we don’t have Linux or macOS support is due to Rec Room having to lift a finger to add support for those platforms with EAC, with referee that support can be baked in much more easily/not require platform specific features

Currently the compatablity problem with Linux isn't EAC. We are also using an anti-tamper solution called Themida that would need some issues to be addressed for Proton compatibility. We currently don't have any plans to fix this at the moment, but hopefully later on we'll be able to. For the record, Themida is supposed to work under Proton, but the latest version has some issues.

Proton support is still something we want. It's just not something we want to do right now. I would rather come back to this when we're in a better position to do so. We have other important work to prioritize.

And proper Proton support would mean some Linux specific code too so that we're not just opening a new hole for hackers.

And sure, we could go down the hole of making tons of small fixes to make it so some specific cheat is mitigated, but more wholistic changes to stop these hacks at a base level is much better in the long-term.
