An update on Rec Center moderators: We had over 400 applicants this time around, so it took a little longer than anticipated to figure things out. We also had more good applicants than we have space for, so we're holding on to a number of people for the next round. Emails were just sent out to people who are being invited at this time. If you didn't receive one, that doesn't mean you're rejected! HOWEVER - we will not be answering questions about if you were accepted or not as we just don't have time. If you did not receive an email, you were not accepted for this round, but may be in the future.

Wanted to be more clear that Steam or iOS will be the best bet for Oculus players wanting the membership:
Rec Room Plus membership and benefits are cross-platform except:
Oculus platforms do not yet support membership sign ups (but you can sign up on another platform, and get all the membership benefits on Oculus! Steam or iOS will be your best bet since PS4 sign ups can only claim their token boxes on PS4 as we mention below)
If you sign up for RR+ on PlayStation, you must claim your tokens on PlayStation due to Sony policies. Items and player inventory are now cross platform across all devices however tokens purchased on PS4 (including RR+ membership tokens) are still locked to your PS4 until they are spent on an item, consumable, etc.
If you sign up for RR+ on any other platform, you can't claim your tokens on PlayStation due to Sony policies

Just an FYI for our creator contest participants! We have fixed a few bugs and are planning to ship a patch sometime early next week. As a result, we've decided to push forward the start date of the play-test phase for the creators contest to at least 24 hours after the patch, when that is released. (The roomies will be pushed forward a week as well!)
If your had your room published today, the engagement will be recorded and used. Starting tomorrow, its effectively the build phase again until the patch is released! We plan to re-push relevant notifications to your subscribers when the playtest begins again. Additional details will be updated on the contest webpage soon, thanks everyone!

Thank you to everyone who sent in info on the Rec Room Plus pricing in different regions! After looking into it we found all of those numbers are actually within what those platforms charge for sales tax and how they do currency conversions so it looks like everything is working as intended, although it is a bummer that some regions / platforms charge more than others. We're happy to announce that we're adding two new members to the community team today!
Trunks will be joining the Creative team and will be helping out with creative classes and programs. Trunks has been playing since 2016 and gave us the first implementation of the dart engine (R.I.P. dart engine).
Jay will be joining the Support team, helping with support & online community! Jay has been a very active builder and involved in the community since joining in 2017. (Also, we just want to be clear: Jay will not be involved with running, judging or have access to anything about the Wonderland contest, as we did not feel it fair to disqualify his entry for the rest of his team.)

@grim adder and @rustic moth have both been playing Rec Room for a long time, and have both stood out due to their involvement with the community.
Noctauto has made some amazing art within Rec Room, and has been helping with some of the youtuber rooms and other promotional work. He also volunteered as a Rec Center moderator.
Star Centurion has volunteered with several of our community pvp leagues, and has been helping out as a Rec Center moderator and Discord community mod, as well as being helpful to many people on the Steam forums and reddit.

We are using a 8 room setup to keep organization as simple as possible. We will be sending a club invite to all participants to the "Lasertag 3v3 tourney" club. Please accept this invite to be able to join the clubhouse, where the main lobby is located. From there, you're able to go to your designated subroom.
The time that your games are listed in is the time that you need to be in your designated subroom! For example, if one of your matches starts at 12:00PM and your team is not fully ready, you are only going to be given 5 minutes before we have to forfeit you. Please go to the subroom you are assigned at least 10 minutes before your match begins. We will have a lobby and warm-up/strategy booth for you to use while you wait!
Please keep in mind that the tournament is single elimination except for the championship matches. If you lose, you're out.

Hey everyone, quick update on the missing room edit features situation.
First of all, we're sorry for causing this uproar. We didn't realize this was as heavily used as it is. The current in-game workaround for this is to unpublish and republish your room. This will not affect your hot score, unless you leave it unpublished for an extended period of time. It may, however, take up to about half an hour for your room to show back on the hot tab.
Currently, you can update your room name and description on rec.net. We're working on adding the ability to change the room image and tags on there as well. This should be live before the end of the week.
The real fix will come when we update the room settings to the new UI. No guarantees on when this will be, but it's unlikely to be this year.
Once again, we are very sorry for this inconvenience.

Important announcement for those using Circuits V2 for the #HiddenWorlds contest!
tldr: 🚨🚨🚨 Don't use more than 1,000 Circuits V2 chips in your contest room! 🚨🚨🚨
When Circuits V2 first leaves beta, you will be initially limited to 1,000 chips in a room. Yes, this limit is pretty low! It is likely temporary as we get more data about the behavior of the system in the wild. We hope to be able to increase the limit (to 1,500 and possibly beyond) within the first few weeks, and ultimately this limit will "go away" (or be high enough that you won't have to care). But we're on the cutting edge of a new system, we need to be very careful that we don't blow things up! So, we're setting very conservative limits across the whole system.
So please know that Circuits V2 will have a cap of 1,000 chips on launch day. Please plan your contest rooms accordingly. Apologies for any pain this causes - ideally we would have mentioned this limit at contest launch, but honestly we didn't know what it would be yet. We're letting you know as soon as we know.
If your contest room is already over 1,000 chips you won't be disqualified (since you have no way to count right now anyway). At ship we'll have a visible count, and you won't be able to place new chips if you're over the limit.

Hi all! Some of you may have noticed that some lights went out in the recent update! 🔦 In short, we're working on a fix for this and will have a patch for you as soon as we can! Here's what you should know about this bug if you're a creator:
-
We added a new boolean toggle for 'Emit' in the configuration menu on lights! The bug is that this was read as False by default in rooms.
-
No room data was corrupted by the initial bug, we just read it slightly wrong in the code.
-
Saving during this period will not corrupt rooms, unless the rooms are saved manually with Emit still set to False. So either do NOT save your rooms, or to turn everything to Emit = True and save! Either will result in no changes to room data once the patch is out.

We're still having intermittent server trouble that is causing everything from really long delays trying to login, switch rooms, etc to outright failures to connect to the servers. The data center that hosts the majority of the Rec Room servers is having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. For about the last 5 hours they've been struggling with a widespread issue that is impacting the Rec Room servers along with everything else in that data center. There's not much we're able to do right now other than wait and watch and hope they are able to resolve the problems soon. 💻 🔥

We’ve received word from our data center provider that they’ve fixed the problems. Everything has looked good on our end for the last 45 minutes. We’ll keep monitoring to make sure everything stays healthy, but it looks like we’re back in business. 🎉

Hey folks, we're aware players on Android are not able to update and play Rec Room. We're working on getting the latest update for you all as soon as we can.
Edit: As a temporary fix, we've re-enabled the old build so Android users should be able to play again. We're still working on getting you the new update so you can join your friends who play on other platforms.

On the topic of UGC rooms:
We've been seeing an uptick regarding rooms that seem to be following the same concept or idea that are easy to clone and/or make in order to dominate the #new tab and make lots of subscribers and tokens. While we have historically been very "hands-off" regarding the type of rooms that are popular, we've noticed that this is becoming a worrying trend due to the egregious practices some of these rooms have in order to gain subscribers/tokens at a rapid rate. Therefore, we may start closing these rooms and/or issuing warnings to the creators of these rooms.
We are working on player facing guidelines to better elaborate on the statement above, and we're hoping to have these out to you all soon.
On the topic of broken instances/loading times:
We're aware of general room instability and long/infinite loading times. This is our top priority to fix right now, and we're looking into it.

We've found an issue with the new Wolf Ride vehicle we added in the last update that is prone to crash some users.
Therefore, we have currently disabled the ability to save new rooms/subrooms with the Wolf Ride in them. We are working to fix it and restore the ability to save rooms with this cool new vehicle. If you have a room that has the Wolf Ride vehicle in it, you need to delete it in order to save the room. We will keep you all updated on a fix.

Hey all! We wanted to give you an early heads up about a build exploit that will be patched soon. The inverted tubes will soon stop working due to necessary technical changes. I know we typically like to have a new tool ready to replace exploits that we patch, but that won’t be possible immediately this time (something similar is on our roadmap once it’s technically feasible!). These will continue to work for a short while but will likely be broken before the end of the contest, so please remove these from your rooms if necessary. Extensions will not be given due to this bug. Sorry all! I know it was a new favourite technique.

Just wanted to make another announcement regarding this ~
I’ve seen a huge spike of phishing links on Discord lately and want to remind everyone: **Do not click on links or download files from people you don't know! **
The two biggest scams right now are “Free Nitro” and the “Hey, I just made a game” types.
These files and links are usually Discord token loggers which will hijack your account and continue to spread this nasty virus.
In the worst case, I have seen some of these even hijack more than Discord like stored banking info, etc.

A note about event discord roles:
The plan right now is having the League of Heroes roles and the /r/place role stick around. Think of them as role mementos that show off what events you have been a part of while you were in our Discord. If you get muted, these roles are automatically removed by the bot, but are returned automatically when your mute ends. If you leave the server, these roles will be removed and we will not add them back to your account. No exceptions. Thanks for reading.

Hey all... heads up that we have identified an issue with our most recent PS4 update. You may have noticed that "weird objects" are appearing in rooms sometimes (e.g., you go to spawn one thing, and instead you get something else). This is the cause! We are currently rolling out a patch for our PS4 build that will resolve the issue. If you're a creator, it is possible to save the "weird objects" into your room. They shouldn't do any harm - you can just delete them. They may appear at "room origin" (i.e., near the corner of the base Maker Room).
If you are creating alone, and not on a PS4, you will not be affected by this issue. Otherwise, if there is anyone on a PS4 in your room when you save, you may get the "weird items".
Sorry for the issue, we're working on it! Will update with ETA for patch, currently I expect it to roll out in a few hours but that can change/vary.

In addition, both of them are also known for being Co-owners of one of the biggest LBGTQ+ room in RR. Helping make the game more welcoming for others.
@humble forge is known for creating rooms with the maker pen since it was first introduced, giving back to the community through various experiences.
All three of them have been a big help for our Volunteer Mod community either in-game or on discord.

For all users:
For those of you advanced builders who have enabled this option, please make sure that "Show Gadgets" when not holding the Maker Pen is toggled OFF in your Maker Pen! You can do this by going to any room where you have Maker Pen permission (like your Dorm Room). Open the Maker Pen, and open "General Settings" in the tools tab. Make sure that the option is toggled off. The reason being you have a small chance of loading into the room with circuits being visible, which may impact your viewing experience of the show. (Important Announcement for Steam users!)
Hey folks,
We will be releasing a limited time build for Steam users tomorrow (Thursday, May 26th) at 8AM, PDT that will stay online for 4 hours. This is a test of our new room loading that will help us decrease load times and corrupted instances for all platforms. This test build will replace the current build, it's not a separate branch.
During this 4 hour block from 8AM to 12PM PDT, you will not be able to join your friends on other platforms if you play on Steam. You will only be able to matchmake with other Steam users. This is the first time we're doing something like this, and we're definitely open to hearing feedback about this approach to testing with a larger group of players.

(Important Announcement for Steam users!)
We will be releasing another limited time build for Steam users tomorrow (Wednesday, June 1st) at 8AM, PDT that will stay online for 4 hours. This is a follow up test for our new room loading that will help us decrease load times and corrupted instances for all platforms. This test build will replace the current build, it's not a separate branch.
During this 4 hour block from 8AM to 12PM PDT, you will not be able to join your friends on other platforms if you play on Steam. You will only be able to matchmake with other Steam users.

We've hit another issue with one of our partners regarding saved leaderboard data. As a result, we've had to reset all leaderboard stats (for both RRO and UGC rooms) back to approximately 9am PDT today, or roughly <t:1654272000:R>. Thank you for your understanding.
Furthermore, we understand some leaderboards have a couple of bugged entries as a result of today's issues even after the rollback. If you own a room that is affected, we can fix your leaderboard if you submit a ticket with us. https://recroom.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Heads up for Steam users, we'll be having another room loading test build that will last 4 hours. Currently scheduled for early morning PDT, June 7th. (Hopefully the last one!)
You can expect this test build to go live roughly at the same time as previous tests (sometime between 10am to 2pm PDT this time), and it will last 4 hours. During this time, Steam users will not be able to join users on other platforms. We will include additional info with the Steam update notes.

We want to let you all know that we've given room creators some new tools to help keep track of activity taking place in your rooms. Room logs are now available for creators to view on rec.net! You can access this information from the settings gear icon on each main room page:
The logs we currently display are:
When a room is cloned
When a room's accessibility is changed (e.g. public -> private)
When someone's room role is changed (e.g. co-owner -> moderator)
When a room invitation is sent
When a room invitation is removed
When a subroom is moved from one room to another.
When a subroom is deleted
When a subroom is saved
When a subroom is restored
When a subroom's data is cleared
When room name is changed
When room description is changed
At this time only the room creator can view these options.

Hi all! Recently, we made a Creator Code of Conduct. There's some information on there we'd like to remind you of regarding events!
There are certain kinds of events that are prohibited. They are:
-Dating events. We prohibit these to protect minors who play this game from abuse.
-Events promoting giveaways, raffles, lotteries, or contests involving any real currency, virtual currency, Rec Tokens, or permission offerings (mod/host/Co-Owner). What we see the most are "Last to fall for (insert prize here)" events. Not just those events, any contest events promising a token/permission prize are prohibited. You can make these events if no tokens or permission prizes are involved.
-Free Gift events. We see events that have the button right at spawn, up a giant wall, through a parkour course, and more. None of these are allowed!
If you see these events in game, we do ask that you report them! If you continually make these kind of events, you may be banned in game, and from making events in the future.
