#PREquel (next game) predictions and hopes

I wonder if SE will do the whole subspace again for the endgame.
Remember in Ritual that Gremory can move about freely in subspace according to Zangetsu.
I hope the endgame in SE is better than RotN's.
She makes red moon. game is called SCARLET Engagement. Clearly Gremory is the brains behind the bad.
I feel like there is a high probability of Gremory and Bael either appearing or being referenced in some way
It would be kind of strange if they aren’t honestly
I don't know if this is true or not, but I think from the initial trailer they showed, there weren't any prominent Ars Goetia demons in the castle
It felt more like it was lesser demons and vampires (The sanguinaries)
The only prevalent "demon" was "Demon Lord Elias", who doesn't fit the demon moniker imo. He doesn't look like a "demon lord", more like a "human possessed by a demon". Even compared to Dracula, he gives off more of a "possessed human" aura rather than a powerful demon lord
All this to say, yeah...I think maybe the more prominent demons (like Gremory) are more 'hiding behind the scenes', even more than how Gremory initially was
I hope it won’t be a story about possessed humans again, that’s a lot haha
Adi Shankar ruined everything
Remember in Castlevania Lament of Innocence that Death didn't show up until the end.
So if Gremory does show up it won't be until a critical point in the story.
Excuse me @crimson plinth , can I join to translate to Vietnamese language for this new game before the game will be released?
Not sure how that works to be honest, I would assume they just hire a localisation team or something.
I understand.
The name 'Theodore' is of Greek origin and means "Gift of God" or "Divine gift"
Fitting for a leader affiliated with the Church ("Black Wolves")
So Theodore is going to be like SE's Zangetsu?
Personally, I'm leaning toward him being more "Barlowe" or "Dominique"
- Some of his speech in the SE trailer feels like they can be 'ambiguous', similar to how Barlowe says "Mankind's greatest wish will be realized."
- Assuming the Bloodstained series is going to follow some of history as their background, during 1500s England, there was a significant conflict between England and the Catholic Church (King Henry VIII/The Church of England/Protestants vs. Catholics)
Looks like I'm not the only one who thought, "This guy could potentially be a traitor"
Although at the end of the trailer, someone in a cloak goes over to talk to Elias (and I can't take that demon's name seriously XD)
Lol, I'm kind of hoping he isn't (I think it'd be cool if he turned out to be a level-headed mentor on the whole), but...yeah. He does give vibes that he's a traitor or has ulterior motives.
I'm not sure if the person talking to Elias is him actually, but I can definitely see what you mean
The bunny wants Keith to change his name to Boris.
Every time the discussion of Elias' name comes up, I think of this clip
(Not a historian. Going off of what I understand)
Think there are some vague irl allusions that can have similar themes to RotN ("Wanting to regain power"). In the 1500s England,
- King Henry VIII (Reigned 1509-1547) created his own church so he can move away from the Catholic Church. In doing so, he empowered protestants over catholics.
- Queen Mary I of England (Reigned from 1553-1558) who succeeded Henry VIII was a devout Catholic. She was infamous for burning religious dissenters at the stake, which earned her the label "Bloody Mary"
- Queen Elizabeth I (1558-1603) later succeeded her and was a devout Protestant. Once in power, she worked to moderately suppress Catholicism in England compared to her predecessor's more ruthless measures (See aforementioned "burning religious dissentors at the sake")
Elias looks more threatening than Gebel in my opinion.
Honestly, it'd be bad if he was traitor
Eventually we'll just get to the point where "Oh it's the mentor. When do i kill them?"
Nah, I think it'd be fine. You can pick up foreshadowing and clues.
And even if the mentor is hiding something, it doesn't necessarily mean 'Im obviously evil'
Yeah, but if you use that too often as a narrative device, it gets boring
Or: “When does he die?”
Which is funny because I like the Mentor trope on Narratives
Both "the mentor dies" and "traitorous mentor" are already common tropes
But while you can do traitorous mentors twice in a franchise, i recommend against doing it twice in a row
By the same token anticipating if the mentor is traitorous becomes a stale thing too. I think it's more about the buildup and payoff. Even if you know it's coming, it can be satisfying if it's done well (and plays with audience expectations)
On topic, it could be cool if Theodor feels like a traitorous mentor, but ultimately isn't. Something-something, he suspects something is wrong with the Black Wolves' mission, and does his own digging whilst trusting Leo and Alex to take care of themselves.
I just hope that the same thing that happened with the Band of the Hawk in Berserk doesn't happen to the Black Wolves on Bloodstained
Because they have to explain the non-existence of this group on RoTN
Weird
Did they schedule the same tweet twice?

Huh?
This one is gone
I typoed Leonardo instead of Leonard and had to delete it.
lol I've done the same typo
There’s so gonna be a Jonathan and Charlotte inspired clothing in this game
As a nod to Portrait of Ruin being a direct inspiration for Scarlet Engagement’s team mechanic.
Leo and Alex. Two souls bound by fate, destined to be heroes.

#TheScarletEngagement
These tweets are paltry. I demand gameplay and story lore!
"Bound by fate"
Is that a subtle way of saying they become a couple?
Well... The game's UI is basically a wedding ring.
We can guess that this game would have ||multiple endings||
With at least ||true ending which would lead to the event in RotN||
...Oh shit, it is 😮

Also, it's just me or...
I bet ||there would be a plot twist about these two||

||with the help of alchemy, that would be possible…||
But for now, let’s put this aside.
Is there a chance we can get a Bloodstained sequel in the future?
To continue after the events of the good ending of Dominique’s curse.
Likely in the future but we likely won't get an announcement until after Scarlet Engagement releases
At this rate I'd say maybe in >2031
True guys! Thank you for telling me this information.
Big maybe though
True! I feel we will get more bloodstained games because the series has been successful.
Yeah. Alternatively, if they're feeling it, I could see a small sidestory or something later on
I can see them doing an actual prequel about the demon summoning 10 years prior to RotN.
The first Curse of the Moon was originally intended to be that prequel before becoming a spinoff.
bloodstained seems to focus on demonology at its core, along with some original monster stuff on the side. seeing how alchemy is involved, it lends itself toward chimerical designs, which is how demons get described, so it fits.
While Castlevania is more focused on those monsters from Universal Monster movies.
We're a LONG way from that.
I know! It's such a tease for now. Reveals will come in blocks. Some with events and some as reveals with partners. We still have a ways to go to the 2026 launch and we need to pace ourselves.
Haha, I understand. To be clear, I was being slightly facetious and exaggerated. I get you all have a plan ^^
That said...yeah. I have to admit, kind of wish the tweets / posts had a little more meat to them. That said, I gotcha 🙂
I was about to ask if we will have more news about TSE in 2025 or only next year.
I expect we'll have more to announce before the end of the year. We haven't finalized our plan yet, but my expectation is to have more before the year is done. I don't want to go that long without something meatier.
take all the time you need.
Here's a question for everyone...what are your big questions for Scarlet that you are looking forward to having answered?
What are the limits of what can be asked
Cause obvious ones are story based
You can ask anything. It's the answers you will have to wait for.
This is me looking for some insights on what people are curious about so as I'm making plans later on I can possibly touch on specific points.
What was the inspiration for the story of The Scarlet Engagement and why has it been chosen as a prequel?
STORY: Is there a link from the heroes, villains, or background players of Scarlet Engagement to the heroes, villains, or background players in Ritual of the Night?
GAME: What was the inspiration to go with two protagonists instead of one this time around?
META: What sort of mechanics do you want to see in future Bloodstained titles?
I think the questions thread above was created before the SE reveal trailer. I'm sure there are better questions now that are more relevant to the new game.
I also plan on at some point having an IGA/SHUTARO Q&A for those kind of questions. If I get to do a video with the dev team, those are good questions to have for that.
Does ArtPlay have a full team in house to program the game? What parts (if any) are contracted out?
Who is composing the music?
Nice one.
Hmm...
Story
- How much of an influence will real-world history play into the background of Scarlet Engagement? Will there be references to England's, Europe's, or the real world history in general based on the current setting (1500s England, the latter half being the Elizabethan Era)
- Will alchemy or the crystal curse play a key role as it did in Ritual of the Night?
Game
- What improvements will be present in Scarlet Engagement compared to RotN? What have you learned from RotN’s development that you hope were improved upon for Scarlet Engagement?
- Are there any plans for DLC?
General/Development
- If you could make any kind of game within the Bloodstained universe, what would it be? (Puzzle game, action game, strategy game, etc…)
- If you could make a Bloodstained game in any era, which time period and setting would you choose?
I would like Bloodstained-themed minigames.

I like this song from Mario Party, so I extended it a little.
Chance Time.
I would like Bloodstained mini games in the room you can decorate in Scarlet Engagement, but you can invite other players to your room and play the games from there. Maybe keep track of wins and losses and stuff
That would be fun.
Honestly for me it's always revolving around what we can get/do in the game.
Story stuff while cool isn't a huge concern for me. Gameplay is king.
also, how the MP works...
and shields
I've pretty much given up on shields.
Idk why people don't like them but it is what it is.
i don't even know you anymore
there we go
but it never seems to happen outside of a soul ability or something.
I miss the SOTN approach where it's a physical item lol
a physical item that leaps out of your hand when you block something?
I mean yeah against physical attacks and stuff but projectiles as far as I remember it blocks fine. lol I much prefer to hold the shield then spam the attack button and hope i hit everything.
but above all it's just fun to collect things in games like this. It's part of the big appeal. Coolect abilities, collect weapons, collect cloaks, collect shields, collect familiars.
that's a huge draw.
but a reminder.... This is the same issue i have when i discuss remakes with people.
I'll be like I miss so and so and people might go.. " they weren't good in the original though"
maybe but why not use the opportunity to make it good?
Maybe people didn't like the shields cuz they didn't have as much use as they could but ....they COULD if they developed the idea better.
The shields were good though. I loved the unique magic each one had
yeah you know me that's the stuff i like about the game.
all the random easter egg things you can do.
all those little extras add up to what makes it a masterpiece
I'm a sucker for the charm of seeing different visual effects too.
like the dark shield and it's lighning effects.
the fire one with the fire trail as you ran..
like even if they were completely useless. I love that stuff.
I mean i'm one of those give me all of the above people. lol
If it's been in a IGA game...i'll take it
lol
outside of maybe the core gameplay gimmick since that typically changes game to game.
"giant" thanks to yung maestro for dooring it up with me: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheKaboomGuy
my twitter: https://twitter.com/IronPineapple_
The giant door shield is stupid fun to mess around with, give it a shot. And yes, I actually enjoyed the Ringed City DLC, much better than the last one.
Music: https://soundcloud.com/rollomatik/rollo...
My version was better
I like skill blocking. It's more difficult, but it feels REALLY good to block an attack and counter.
Reason: At first, I don’t like shield. Because of this #🍷丨ritual-of-the-night message
I have to choose cuz who knows in the next game, we would meet this again
As long as it’s the weapon type, not magic, I’m fine.
Agree.
What was everyone's favorite?
I already said mine. The dark shield at the top.
I just want to say that Scarlet Engagement will be the first game in my life that I will not watch any reviews or videos about, not before its release, neither on launch day, nor even when the game turns 5 or 10 years old.
I want to play it, finish it, and make my own conclusions.
I think that's pretty normal isn't it?
Yes, but usually at some point we stop to check out a review of the game or something like that.
Maybe I'm weird then cause I avoid stuff I want to experience myself
Stuff related to*
I want to do something different with this game.
I'm not saying that I base my opinion on that of others (quite the contrary), but I feel that this game is a case where I don't want the opinions of others to affect how I view Bloodstained (RoTN or TSE).
Whether I love or hate TSE will depend 100% on myself.
I'm hyped for the game, but I also don't want to sabotage myself with it. I've already learned my lesson with that piece of trash called Sonic Forces.
That reminds me to the LoL skins that cost 500 and I'm like "hell no!"
Also about shields, it should have like a block limit (stamina related) or damage reduction when using it up to nullify damage if the damage is too low or focused against that element that heals the user instead
I still remember the outrage at the horse armor being sold for $2.50 in Oblivion.
And look at us now
2.50 USD Horse Armor is like, the least offensive cosmetic to buy
And now we got this gacha bs with exalted skins and I call the shit out of these losers who bought them
People are dodging the 500 Ahri or Kai'sa in their games.
It's giving them the middle finger for being suckers
And people complaining about 10 dollar skin packs.... Pfft
But I want to dress up my waifus. :/
I love a good DLC outfit for my characters!
i can think of an idea to add in as an unlockable for beating the game once: Miriam Mode
basically put go through the entire game but play as miriam and zangetsu
(think of castlevania portrait of ruin's richter mode)
though i get the feeling the idea may have been brought up in here before

Miriam solo mode could be fine, actually. Portrait of Ruin had Old Axe Armor which was a solo mode
i feel like having the mode be more similar to Castlevania Portrait of Ruin's Richter mode (so playing as both Miriam and Zangetsu in a similar way as playing as both Richter Belmont and Maria Renard in Portrait of Ruin) would work better
and if making them both have pre-assigned weapons is a problem why not use Curse of the Moon as a reference (Miriam using a Whip and Zangetsu using his Katana)
Maria was unfinished though
We need the system requirements
I was rewatching the TSE trailer for... I lost count.
And I noticed this.
In this particular scene, Alex's sword is out of position.
Yeah, that's gotta get fixed.
Did anyone notice that this costume comes from this monster here:
||I wonder if that guy who looks like a psychopath is the one talking to Elias in that scene.||
thats a hairy belly button
There's definitely something going on that's for sure.
I have a hunch that there is a possibility that one of the people from the Black Wolves clan is one of the Sanguinaries in disguise.
reminds me of shaft
Goated villain.
Should Scarlet Engagement Have Shields?

@lapis canopy while not many people voted. 100% makes me feel really good as a shield fan. Lol
will the two knights be the only playable characters or are more planned?
Nothing confirmed as far as we know I believe
I won't be surprised if there are alternate playable characters.
You guys can still use this if you want a less-crowded place to talk, or maybe for longer or more detailed thoughts. I imagine the main one might move pretty fast, especially as we get closer to the game
