should i run defog maltaria?
i'd recommend you use one of
Garchomp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe | 252 Atk/ 4 SpA / 252 Spe (Use this only if you use fire blast)
Jolly Nature / Naive Natura ('')
- Stealth Rock

Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Scale Shot / Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
doesnt fit with your teamcomp
if you want defog drop hydreigon
and run latias instead
alr
ill try roseli berry garchomp
alr
so gar maltaria kommo-o ill keep kyurem and d-pult
and latias ye

hi
Looking for some help with my team it’s a struggle fest https://pokepast.es/5d69f58017dff4b3
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
umm yea so Grass isnt really great so you'd 100% struggle...though this team in particular has more problems than being just grass
Chloroblast isnt really used for H.Electrode, you're better off using the Sub-Seed-Giga Drain-Discharge set if ever, and you're only using this set to secure an autowin vs Water, else, He's not really good. You can try out someone like wo-chien (lives nonboosted Chien-Pao and Body Presses it to death), or pretty much anyone...left for grass ._.
Amoon needs Spore, not Toxic here, assuming this spread is the one lifted from the dex (survives Gren's Ice beam)
Iron Leaves feels sort of not too good, as this guy specifically beats ground, which H.Lili should already probably cover. Can try out SD Zarude though (with Crunch/Drainpunch/Synthesis or Sub or Taunt whichever last move you want), giving you a steelbreaker.
Not too sure with the colbur on Bramb, as you're still KO'ed by strongie dark moves.
Wide Lens on H.Lili with Victory Dance/CC/Ice Spinner/Leaf Blade or Sleep Powder. Its sort of better than what you have now (you're also not killing H.Lili from missing CC vs missing Axe Kick too)
I hope this helped.
It does what’s a good spread for Wo churn
its in the smogon dex. that survives pao's crash
Ok thank you
https://pokepast.es/6f9dbaae63c3416e could someone rate my team for National dex
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
give celebi giga drain>hpbug
and give lilligant sleep powder>leaf blade
if u sleep powder stuff victory dance is free
and u can snowball easily
also u might wanna consider boots+defog whims
for emergency fog
incase hazards fuck up ur wincons
something like
Whimsicott @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Prankster
EVs: 44 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 208 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Encore / Tailwind
- Moonblast
- U-turn
also id go body press>tect on ferro
so u can handle kyurem a bit better
unless ur good on relying on lilligant/whims to sweep
looks good aside tht
gl
Should I change up the stats for body press

okay so first thing im seeing is the teamcomp is sorta weird
you have no removal whatsoever nor do you have hdb on anything
i recommend removing harcanine, its more of a rock mon anyway, and changing it for rotom-h
OR
make zard mega-x and replace arcanine for torkoal
after that the cinderace set is weird, try using this one:
Cinderace @ Normalium-Z
Ability: Libero
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Pyro Ball
- Double Edge
- Sucker Punch / High Jump Kick
tran fits ok here but if you're trying to do a more balanced composition (especially if you pick zardx+torkoal) i'd change it for something like volcanion but if you keep zardy + rotom-h its fine
but change dark pulse --> dragon pulse
you can also change psyshock --> hidden power ice on blace
about everything i think
Any good rotom h sets you reckon could fit in the team?
https://pokepast.es/4928567a88580876 how’s this for National dex
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
ur gonna have to explain ur choices
cuz u go for lele
Which shows me this isnt a no legends type deal
so i wanna know what u picked and why before I rate thos
So it can stick to ur og idea
@empty tulip
@prisma lynx is lele a bad choice?
No its just the team uses alot more niche mons when better things are available
So im wondering is this like ur fave fairy mons
And u just want me to tweak sets or this a team u want to be fully comp
I’m open to replace whoever I just sorta made it from scratch and tried to use the smogom dex for help
hi any advice for my nationaldex mono dragon team? https://pokepast.es/6226fb0200021eb4
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
everything seems fine but i'd personally change kyurem to dd bax here cuz it fits lead chomp variants better
i would also change dnite to be banded moon instead or specs hydrei even, you can experiment with dnite, it isnt inherently bad, but banded moon gives more consistent results + fits better
smaller nitpicks
cc --> drain punch, logevity, eases mus
change chomp to be lead rocks:
Garchomp (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Rough Skin
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe | 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe (only use if fire blast)
Jolly Nature / Naive Nature (only use if fire blast)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Tomb
- Spikes / Fire Blast
that's all
One question, do you think I should run HDB or Loaded Dice Baxcalibur?
and what moves should I run
upto you pretty much
if hdb,
dd, icicle crash, ice shard, earthquake
if dice
dd, icicle spear, ice shard/eq, glaive rush/eq
okay thank you!
I would make crobat defensive and make pex icium z with haze > bunker
Everything else seems fine but scarf moth > scarf nihil is an option too
(its gen 7)
no reason for crobat to be z-moved when it's util; 252 hp/64 def/192 spe is fine since you still outspeed non-scarf gren
haze > bunker on pex
give nidoking flamethrower > fire blast (accuracy + pp helps vs steel, specifically celesteela); stealth rock over ice beam
venusaur is ok i guess? eq for who... tran? only tran? if so, hp fire works vs other steels better
w/ haze on pex you can use icium-z so you don't basically autolose to z-kommo
(z-haze can't be taunted 🙂 )

was torn between ww or volcanion
there's a bigger problem: Where Ground type
sort out where you want the ground type first, and due to the lack of entry hazard removal stuff might get messy later too
gastro or quaggy works, yea
quaggy slightly better due to unaware
but then you'd rather not be choiced ursh for the steel mu tho, imo. Aside from that, no spinny/entry hazard removal is scary
Is quaq the only good spinner or is there other good water hazard removal
it’s quaq or tatsugiri (aka mostly quaq)
My mono flying team for nat dex which I feel good about but want to see if there are possible improvements

Mantine should have enough speed to hit 200 so it can Haze Azumarill most notably. Possibly consider dropping Toxic for Defog?
Celesteela wants Autotomize if you're going with an offensive set; with that you might as well do Z > Power Herb which kind of frees a move slot.
okay a few things:
- give boots to mantine. change toxic to defog. also give it enough speed evs to outspeeds azumarill (either upto 200 or 220 actual speed ((not evs)) whichever ur comfy with)
- 2 steel birbs is redundant, drop corv and make steela physically defensive with leech seed heavy slam protect flamethrower
- put a moltres-g instead of corv with just double dance.
- i dont personally like lando-i on flying, lando-t is generally better due to making better use of utility, so i'd change it to that, if you keep lando-i tho, change sludge bomb to sludge wave
The deal with mantine is that it's basically trying to stall out the opponent so that's why toxic is there
you can do that w/o toxic, if you drop toxic you need a different defogger, and personally corv is just not that good in ndm
esp when steela exists
Thanks

no need for ribombee, esp since this isnt using webs or QD'ing, can use a rapid spinner like forretress instead or something like araquanid.
Buzzwole, with this set, prefers sub over Taunt, letting you bypass Toxic and predicting.
Buzzwole @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 248 HP / 40 Atk / 156 SpD / 64 Spe

I think you need to choose HO or Balanced. Clyclizar is good for HO, but doesn't cover things you need in a balanced comp which most of what your team is. I'd drop Cyclizar for a defensive Staraptor. Zoroark is ok, but maybe do Specs/Scarf. Blunder Policy is not worthwhile at all.
Drop Tri Attack for Shadow Ball on Porygon-Z and make Ghost the conversion type (helps v Fighting).
I'd consider dropping Toxic for Teleport on Blissey for the momentum. It helps you to bring in Zoro, Ursaluna and PZ more easily.
Ursaluna probably needs some speed creep (maybe around 174 ish total Speed). I'd also just go 4 attacks and use Drain Punch > SD. Your attack is already high and you'd rather just start putting out damage. It's also worth keeping in mind what Diggersby would do in the slot vs. Ursaluna. Just keep that in mind in games
Ok

Natdex @quasi rock @pulsar inlet
I'd drop Rock Polish for Focus Blast on Landorus
Make Excardill either Choice Change or Steelium Z.
CB: EQ / Iron Head / Rock Slide / X Scissor or Rapid Spin
Z: EQ / Iron Head / SD / Spin
Consider Whirlwind over Toxic on Hippo and make it Def
Chomp is fine; if you make Exca Z you can make Garchomp Mega with the same moveset you have now
Clodsire is fine as is
Maybe consider Scarf Tusk. Other options here
PhysDef Gastro > Clod and CB Mamo > Tusk

Drop Grimmsnarl for Klefki and you're pretty much on point. I would consider Grass Knot on Koko or possibly dropping Enamorus for Tapu Bulu. But what you have is pretty much on point once you add Klefki over Grimmsnarl
Thanks

So half of your team is HO and the other half is balance, which one would you like to commit to more?
I think i want to commit to HO
https://pokepast.es/05592510fb448775 theres a few angles you can go with this:
- The primary way is mainly Froslass Spikes plus attackers. You usually want to have Spectrier and Gholdengo. Spectrier is frankly on the cusp of being broken to some and hits very hard. Gholdengo prevents Defog so you can maintain hazards.
- Mimikyu generally is a ghost HO staple, its ability providing a free turn of setup opportunity and one of ghost's best physical attackers and helps in the dark mu
- Blacephalon is typically good speed control as a scarfer and cleans quite well late game thanks to beast boost boosting its spatk.
- Zoroark-H is probably the least necessary mon on ghost HO imo, you could try to fit basculegion as another physical attacker but frankly, I think Ghost is capable of just overwhelming special walls anyway so Zoroark is still good, also is nice in the ghost mirror mu
Z move is quite versatile on the type too, Z-Happy Hour Zoroark, Z gholdengo, Z spectrier, its up to personal preference

@balmy stream ^ ndm
will help in a bit gtg for dinner
how was dinner
gm
oh i forgor
ill get on it rfn
@humble cave first of all, sorry.
- a basic dragon team should have mega altaria i recommend you first of all change mchomp to malt
Altaria-Mega @ Altarianite
Ability: Pixilate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Facade / Return
- Earthquake
- Roost
-
also i think wake is hella mid and not necessary i'd much rather drop it for scarf latias/latios
-
i would also drop dnite as a dd-er cuz its pretty mid and then you can do one of either:
IF you want dd moon, get kyurem > dnite
IF you can drop dd moon, make moon banded and get dd bax > dnite -
goodra should be curse bpress if ever lo is def not the way to go, id say change it to this: (this is a monotype ev spread i havent smth propely figured out for ndm atm sorry)
Goodra-Hisui @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Shell Armor
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Def / 176 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Heavy Slam
- Body Press
- Rest
- lastly change kommo-o to this:
Kommo-o @ Kommonium Z
Ability: Soundproof
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Clanging Scales
- Taunt

would consider scarf sneasler + Specs valiant if ever. You dont need 2 scarfers tbh, an Assault vest Iron Hands might be better over Scarf G.Zappy for a fallback, but this is fine too (esp with the Steel Wing)
Trailblaze over Ice Punch on Urshifu tho, lets you fully own Ground teams + the speedboost is nice. Alternatively, Thunder Punch lets you annoy pex + hit the Mantine [which doesnt have a lot of usage nowadays).
Unsure on Great tusk here, cobalion is great if only for quick taunts + it being a steel type, but keep Tusk if you dont have a mon that can outspeed regieleki.
i think keeping tusk is fine but def get hands > gapdos
also for val you probably want psyshock > eball
and destiny bond/future sight if ur feeling funky and can pull it off as they're great tools but have a bit more skill cieling
eball has a niche specifically because Valiant outspeeds SS M.Pert, and he doesnt have a Grass type/Water resist that lasts long enough

It’s been doing pretty well just needs something
i would recommend hisui lilligant over breloom rn because it's a wincon that i think your team is lacking at the moment. It helps in the steel, dragon and flying matchups immensely thanks to ice spinner + close combat and you can utilise z moves with it to hit even harder
Victory Dance, Ice Spinner, CC, Leaf Blade is common across mono and natdexmono from what i've seen, so i'd recommend that
252 atk/4 spd/252spe+
Okie dokie
also scarf meow pls
Should I z move ice or fighting or keep wide lens
i have been running sleep powder > leaf blade, easier opportunities to set up imo
You could substitute Leaf Blade for Sleep Powder, specially if you're running Wide Lens
What are the EVs for on Venusaur and Ferrothorn btw?
stall blocker is a bit of a stretch, meow honestly sucks on it
venusaur is outspeeding adamant azumarill
if you really need entry hazard control, can run defog Whims, or spin bramb (its not too bad)
They have been working out great honestly Ferro can take a cc from some moon setup mons
Defog sounds nice actually
you might want body press over protect or iron head over gyro (if you want protect)
also, if you do use Lili
you might want a way to win steel, like using EP M.Ven, or really having Zarude
SD Zarude eats (non Skarm) steel quite well
the only issue for lilligant on steel is gholdengo
If you're switching to scarf Meowscarada, Thunder Punch helps against flying types which your team currently has very few answers to
flying is dealt with vic dance lili though
Yeah that mon is an issue Venu usually gets gholdy for me or arb
gholdy overwhelms m.ven in the long run, arb cant hit it
I’ll make a scarf meow though
Oooo that’s why I used breloom he had bulldoze my bad I’ll look at throwing earth power on Venu
EP on M.Ven is more of nailing catran, so that steel doesnt have a safe swap in at all
Ok I’ll take off leech seed
however, HP Fire deals negative damage to the steel bird and EP to bulky ghold, so you might want something, even just a lure, to beat ghold/steel bird
because even if you manage to get H.Lili in
Ghold just comes in and kills someone
That’s fair is chestnaught any good?
its not that good
I didn’t think do
there's a few checks to ghold, I prefer SD Zarude the most as it also gets past Skele which is a pain too
Who would you swap
there's also probably SD Rilla which does the same thing, but has gglide (prio) but is slower

https://pokepast.es/f59c040dfcd86a77 I have this team I built for something, but poison and water arent matchups I thought of in mind when making this. You might get mileage with spdef Bramb / mixed ven, but I havent touched grass since this team went unused.
aside from fire/poison/water (maybe), all the other matchups are doable
Ok I appreciate it

hi ill check over some stuff
make meow scarfed, your team lacks a scarfer and meow is the best one dark has also
sucker punch --> knock off
specs gren is fine enough, just do water shuriken --> hydro pump
i would recommend making hydrei sub plot or changing entirely to goltres
if hydrei:
Hydreigon @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot

if goltes:
Moltres-Galar @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Berserk
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Wrath
- Hurricane
- Agility
- Nasty Plot
change krookodile to ting lu instead, it fits balance wayyy more
use
Ting-Lu @ Leftovers
Ability: Vessel of Ruin

uh the sable is cursed, just use this:
Sableye-Mega @ Sablenite

Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Knock Off
- Recover
- Protect / Metal Burst
muk is fine for the most part but
gunk shot --> poison jab
clear smog --> pursuit
drain punch --> rock slide
that's all =D
Alright I will add these changes and try it out when I can thanks! Also, is krookodile a poor pick or can I potentially make it work with another build? Its a personal thing but I dont like having legends on my team.
krook just fell off after tingle came into existence
it had a scarfer niche in ss but tingle is just so stupidly fat and good in utility
I see, that makes plenty of sense

I wouldn't recommend cloyster sash when you're not running removal options like avalugg or cryogonal
White herb would probably give you the most mileage
You also want ice shard on cloyster over liquidation imo, you need the priority and jolly bax or else gholdengo outruns you
if no cloyster what should i replace it with? i’m thinking sd weaville or quiver dance frosmoth but i’m not sure
ok thanks, the coverage sounded appealing but priority is way safer
nvm
i was thinking froslass i’m stupid
Weavile has no niche on ice as long as chien pao exists.
Since its just better in every way
i replaced it with white herb
Alright. I don't have anything else to say. Ice is tough in the sense that you don't have a lot of options in the first place and depending on whether you go abomasnow or not the whole team structure can change
ok thanks, i pretty much have a similar team but with white herb cloyster and ice shard over liquidation.
i kept abomasnow but i’m open to replacing it
In the case you do replace abomasnow, it's probably like frosmoth or a remover (avalugg or cryogonal) in that slot. Ice would like snow preferably but aboma is just a mixed bag of a mon
If we had ninetales it would be much better
agreed. ninetales can actually exert offensive pressure and has a good speed tier, plus fairy is way better than grass
and personally i like cryogonal over avalugg for the speed
i’m holding onto abomasnow mainly because baxcalibur really likes the extra defense
Yh I would say I prefer cryo over avalugg rn just because freeze dry threatens water
Avalugg is pretty much essential on Ice, use it over Froslass (Ice will never really have space for hazards unfortunately)
white herb on cloy is good ye, i typically prefer hydro pump > liquidation but both are good
sacred sword > spinner on pao, psychic fangs over swords dance, crash over shard, and scarf
and you have a choice of cetitan/glaceon over rotom. ones a really good slush rush abuser while the other helps with water
i also sway to 3a offensive abomasnow over spdef since the power from focus blast/earth power can be really nice in the steel matchup
you're also weak to azu if aboma doesnt outpace it

This set may be considered for cyclizar, since hitting something like Specs Valiant for chip goes a long way as its now in range for Scarf wake
I'm sort of on the fence with scarf wake here tbh, since Pult with specs isnt that great a user of sub, scarf pult lets you have a pult and free up a slot for Hisui Goodra (for Combatting Fairies) or Baxcalibur (Which is imo, Dragon's best mon rn)
https://pokepast.es/create for gen 9 monotype. So far it’s doing ok there is just something I need to change and I can’t figure it out. I’ve been swapping toedscruel for a lot of different mons and I really only have him for rapid spin

Amoonguss' best set is physically defensive and not AV your team is lacking a physically defensive pokemon that's actually good at handling the metas threats. Arboliva is not that good of a pokemon imo since it doesn't really help in any matchups for grass. I would replace it with either rotom mow or hisui electrode to threaten flying. You could also give hisui lilligant over breloom a shot since victory dance set up also assists in the flying and dragon matchups
Some of the sets also need some tweaking around to be as optimal as they can be like breloom if you decide to keep it and meowscarada
A few of the sets on your team are currently sub-optimal:
- Breloom's best move is Spore, which it is much more likely to benefit from than Bulk Up. Rock Tomb does the same as Bulldoze but hits Flying-types, which Grass teams appreciate.
- AV Amoongus isn't an optimal set either, but if you really wanted to run it then Foul Play would be a better option than Hyper Beam. I don't recommend the set though - something like Rocky Helmet or HDB is much more valuable, and it allows you to run Synthesis for reliable recovery and either Spore or Toxic to weaken the opposing team.
- Toedscruel would benefit from running Spikes or Spore since its ability ensure that they will always land, even against foes with Magic Bounce.
- Meowscarada is better run as a fast pivot.
In terms of mons, consider using H-Lilligant and H-Electrode over Breloom and Arboliva (like TTK suggested)
Electrode-Hisui @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Chloroblast
- Leech Seed / Thunder Wave
you can give this a shot. I think i've done twave more just because being able to outspeed all the fast mons and paralyse them is big
whats the best monotype type?
fighting balance(?)

New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal, @stable zinc, @balmy stream. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
seems good so far. here are some suggestions i have:
- I would definitely try to use sneasler over gallade. Dire Claw is solid vs fairies and its speed tier is much better for a choice scarf.
- I'm also a fan on 1 electric move on hands, you need space for coverage like rock slide to beat volcarona, which can just set up on fighting and win.
- trick over shadow ball is also an option to cripple pex, which fighting sometimes struggles to beat
do i get rid of volt switch for rock slide?
yeah, if you'd prefer to keep tpunch for beating pex (which i can recommend as an option)
tbf its against psychic, not a type you typically cant beat anyway and gallade doesnt help out that much i feel
alright
One suggestion from me is making tusk offensive soft sand
It turns the poison matchup completely on its head
U can keep same moves if u desire
Or rather, headlong over eq
Another big thing rn is expert belt mixed valiant instead of specs
Does good at tearing apart balance types like water flying steel
underrated set imo

These teams are pretty good! Here are a few changes I would suggest:
-
on the water team, replace dondozo with either gastrodon or quagsire (my preference going to gastrodon) to provide a much needed electric immunity and the possibility to set up rocks
-
your version of sunless fire could work, but you could go for something like Defog Talonflame over Skeledirge to allow you to run a more offensive scarf cinderace set. Also not having arcanine hisui as a wallbreaker or volcanion for the water immunity feels like a waste.
Yes volcanion is much needed
I changed that for heatran because while playing heatran didnt do much
Skeledirge is like one of my best mons in my games tho
Really puts in a lot of work
But gastrodon is a good addition yes
How's my team? https://pokepast.es/f49ea75b449f09d3
@balmy stream your fav type
omg..
ok where do i begin uhh
yea get an espathra
psychic without espathra is not viable
actually there's way more problems than that
i reckon you take a look at pre home psychic sample once
but in general psychic consists of
Playstyle: Lead HO (Azelf/Uxie), TSpikes (Glowking), Screens (Uxie/Scream Tail)
Espathra
Indeedee + Armarouge (multiple configs but best one rn is T. Extender + Sash/WP Endure)
Physical Breaker (Hoopa/Gallade)
Flex Slot (Hatterene for Hazard prevention, Cress for overall bulk and longevity, Braviary for Defog, Mew as a surprise Physical or Special breaker, Iron Leaves for more pressure against Water, Gardevoir for an easier time vs Rain)
what's a breaker?
Something that can deal a lot of damage and “break” through opposing mons
https://pokepast.es/a410f641d205759c
Dragon screens ho
screens pult is suboptimal and a pretty big opportunity cost
youd rather use specs
replace either dragonite or hydreigon for garchomp cause you need those hazards
if you choose to keep dagonite, replace earthquake with fire punch
unbiased opinion

not the hnr
right?
I straight just threw a bunch of Pokémon together so I’m not going to be surprised if it’s bad https://pokepast.es/47baabfe3bd8da1a
heyyy
honestly not the worst start, but i have a lot of suggestions. 🙂 i'll pass you a sample and see if you want to go from there first, since you're missing an electric immunity (not 100% needed, but when you're just getting started it's way safer than going rogue w/ none)

if you want to edit yours, drop basculegion for:
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Psychic Fangs
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab```
urshifu is okay, but you may have better luck with quaquaval (likely need hazard removal on rain)
```Quaquaval @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Moxie
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Surf
- Low Kick
- Roost
- Rapid Spin```
i would consider dropping rotom and volcanion for samurott-h & toxapex, since you can set hazards & pex is nice on most any water team
```Toxapex @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Haze
- Toxic Spikes
- Recover
- Poison Jab
Samurott-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Razor Shell
- Knock Off
- Ceaseless Edge
- Sacred Sword```
and instead of scarf wake, use basculegion-f, since it benefits from rain w/ swift swim and has decent coverage (boots or specs w/ hydro pump over sub)
```Basculegion-F (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Shadow Ball
- Surf
- Ice Beam```
sniped u bestie ❤️ @balmy stream
- If you're wanting to run a basculegion rain team, the female variant is superior since it gets access to a viable ghost STAB in shadow ball. Phys basculegion has to rely on Phantom Force, and you don't want to be wasting 2 turns of rain on one attack
can meme with it but still slow & dies too quickly 😭
Basc-F is just better unfort :(
but I love seeing pex dying to a water move, of all things
252+ Atk Choice Band Adaptability Basculegion Wave Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex in Rain: 156-184 (51.3 - 60.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery <3
Thanks for all of the help how does it look now https://pokepast.es/519f4d1628aadfd5
knock off over hydro pump on pelipper (helpful utility), prob still want pjab over sludge bomb on pex, since specially based opponents can just set up on it and win over time due to less recovery this gen, and might consider gastro over quag (can just duplicate the team and replace it) since you have pex for physdef and if you want the electric immunity, a fatter special side might help.
you can obv test out both and see what you like best/works for you as well
You can also use special def pex
Neko had a nice ev spread
248 HP / 16 Def / SpD dump / 16 Spe
ghost mono balance (?) offense
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal, @stable zinc, @balmy stream. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
drop decidueye & add gholdengo. you can consider scarf on flutter mane for some sort of speed control (despite having two fast mons, you still want something faster). you can prob drop shadow force on pult if you want to keep it (or replace this slot with zoroark-h or even ceruledge, though this would be my last preference)
if you drop shadow force you can use wisp or twave; I’m currently an anti-Pult propagandist but my bestie @balmy stream was typing so maybe he has a better idea
My suggestions are pretty much similar to ken's - I also prefer HiZoro to Pult, tho the Pult set you're running still works fine if you insist on using that mon. Decidueye is definitely outclassed by other mons though, and Gholdengo is really appreciated on Ghost. I can tell you were going for hazard removal w/ Defog, but Rapid Spin Brambleghast is a better hazard remover for ghost (which prefers to run something more offensive on that slot anyway)
whats the best set for gholdengo?
so if i want hazard removal which is the best to replace?
i replaced decidueye with ghold
If you really wanted hazard removal I think Spectrier, Flutt, Zoroark, Ghold, Mimikyu and Bramble would be fine. That said, I don't really recommend going for the hazard removal slot since it's better used on something like Skeledirge, Dragapult, or even Ceruledge
Ghost is usually better off with some bootspam builds over removal since froslass is too predictable/even as a sacrificial lead inconsistent, brambleghast kills momentum, and you’re never using drifblim or oricorio
out of the last 3 you mentioned, which one is better as the last slot?
depends on what you’re building for to be honest- ceruledge or Pult are offensive but can hit/do different things (think dual status or dd pult), ceruledge is good vs steel and can help vs dark, while skeledirge can help vs setup threats
fwiw you can make multiple versions of the team and try each out
^ it's usually a good way to go about it if you're not sure what you want to use
booster energy banned, shed tail cyclizar isnt too good here because no good shed tail abuser
Couldn’t I just give roaring moon a different item
Okay I’ll add Baxcalibur instead
without booster roaring moon is extraordinarily underwhelming in mono
a ground immune like hydreigon or dragonite would be nice over dragalge
and ye bax > moon
give cyclizar max hp, might as well since its attacks arent doing anything
dragon tail > claw on chomp and preferably max hp, not sure what those evs are for
https://pokepast.es/61964768e84a7ff3 Thoughts?
Honestly not a bad start
There js probably room to mess around with boots on baxcalibur goodra hisui over dragalge, and maybe different dragapult sets
Such as wisp darts hex
I would change the hydreigon to earth power over flame for certain tho @balmy stream
The rest is up to you
Looks good
i would run some speed on kingambit, 132 speed can outrun skeledirge. i also dont think hoopa is too worthwhile if its running scarf, either you can run a special set since you're lacking a special breaker or go greninja or galarian moltres
kinda just depends on what sort of style you want to go for / what mons you want to use specifically (if any)
https://pokepast.es/f68a747a60e6adf1 I'm trying to build a team around the Alolan Exeggutor and Sawsbuck and only want to really keep the long boi. Thoughts?
Umm...either arent even ranked...but I'd do protect in conjunction with harvest tho
protect over what?
Teleport
Also, checking the eggy in NU, custap + endure sounds hilarious, though not with leaf storm at least
should probably get rid of sawsbuck thogh
I know
Also you can just edge it to 180 Speed EVs, enough to just outspeed and goob corv
let's say i removed sawsbuck, what mon should replace it?
Hisui Lilli probably, Celebi could also work for beating poison, Zarude if you want to beat steel
Ngl cant we just do specs Eggy and just have a truck ton of pivoting?
good point
Very solid team, though I would probably go with something like AV Iron Treads over Ursaluna to better tank Ice attacks
You kinda want HDB Quag
Lefites are good but Quag always want full hp to check what it needs to
Was considering swapping Whimsacott for Roserade in the sunny team. Also thought about making a trick room team so i could use Torterra whose my all time favorite mon and maybe some other slower mons ive never gotten to use like Lurantis who seems cool
Thank ya wasnt able to get that to work myself lol
I replied with a pokepaste for readability. I'm way too tired to rate anything at the moment unfortunately.
Just asked if it was okay or there was any better
After you rest some time, would you rate and suggest anything for my steel, flying, fire, normal
If you'd like some standard teams to test out, I recommend checking the monotype sample teams
I only put bug
use pokepaste for your teams; it’s much easier to reference
OK so my aim here is to get a standard normal team going.
- First option is mega lopunny. Best mon on the type by a long mile thanks to high speed tier high dmg and scrappy.
- you can go blissey/chansey for the special wall. My preference is chansey nowadays because its bulkier but its vulnerable to hazards unlike boots blissey so up to you on this one.
- porygon2 would round up the defensive core with staraptor. Staraptor has defog to remove hazards
- I would add a ditto next because its good speed control + stops setup sweepers/scares the opponent from setting up.
- your last option can include a special attacker like z move zoroark or z move porygonz or ursaluna to help in the electric mu
If you need movesets and EVs I can assist
Huh
I cant decide
Heliolisk good underrated in meta but good moveset
Porygon 2 too tho
Then either ursaluna or diggersby
Diggersby deals insane dmgs
Thanks to huge power (ability)
Lopunny a must
What about arboliva or grafaiai?
Any advice for the mono grass setups? 1st is more of a standard setup 2nd is a more fun sunny setup
Do I have to open a thread for the rate
hi i'll help
this is overall pretty good but there's some weird spots
- Do you WANT to use melm? if yes, make it banded
Melmetal @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Double Iron Bash
- Ice Punch /
- Thunder Punch
If you are free to changing a mon, i recommend using Scarf Treads as your team lacks any speed control
Iron Treads @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Iron Head / Volt Switch
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner / Knock Off
-
Gyro Ball --> Power Whip on Ferrothorn, change Body Press to Protect Or Thunder Wave
-
For Scizor, I recommend going either AOA or if you wanna be muted, SD Roost 2A
Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 116 HP / 252 Atk / 140 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Trailblaze
- Bullet Punch
- Close Combat
or
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Def / 212 SpD
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- U-turn / Knock Off
- Use the standard SpDef tran set:
Heatran @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers / Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 204 HP / 28 Atk / 224 SpD / 52 Spe
Calm Nature
- Magma Storm
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
YOU CAN DROP STONE EDGE but make sure to remove the 28 Atk evs and put them into HP. If you drop it, replaceit with Toxic
- Okay so we can go a few ways here, IF YOU KEEP MELMETAL, simply make Gholdengo Choice Scarfed, I think that'd be the best
IF YOU REMOVE MELM FOR SCARF TREADS, use a more defensive Z set in:
Gholdengo @ Ghostium Z
Modest Nature
Ability: Good as Gold
EVs: 252 HP / 72 Def / 184 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Nasty Plot
- Thunder Wave
- Hex
- Imo make Steela fully physdef, the moves are a-ok
that's all
Ok thanks
there's a few more ndm teams up a bit higher btw
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal, @stable zinc, @balmy stream. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
- Your gholdengo and mega scizor have no natures.
- I believe this team would be better without the stakataka tbh at this rate water just blows through you so I would replace it with ferrothorn, it provides spikes and are hard to remove thanks to gholdengo.
- The team is also lacking a physdef wall. Physdef celesteela is preferred over spdef, especially when there's a spdef heatran already
- I would change the celesteelas moves to leech seed protect flamethrower heavy slam
I had ferrothorn before
Okay
Ok
Thank you
Moveset ferrothorn?
Gyro ball
leech seed
Power whip
protect
spikes t spikes
stealth rock
Rocks gyro/protect leech seed protect I think here
Ability anticipation so I get less DMG on switch in or iron barbs 1/8 recoil
Hmm there are some sets/pokemon here that are a bit sub-optimal. Here are some things to start from square one.
- Jugulis is mostly outclassed by galarian moltres. Moltres typically goes nasty plot agility hurricane fiery wrath with the flying z crystal
- lando is a fine pick for flying, we'll save the set for now to see what it needs to do.
- Physical thundurus with an av isn't particularly the best set. Thundurus t also outclasses regular thundurus thanks to its electric immunity. We'll also save the set on this.
- celesteela is still going to run the same moves it runs on steel.
- we can keep the mega aero.
- togekiss also suffers stiff competition with enamorus.
You can try out defensive pivot landorus with stealth rock uturn knock/toxic eq. Specs thundurus T and scarf enamorus with contrary superpower and healing wish
The lack of removal is apparent especially on a type weak to rocks, so you could go defog corv over celesteela to alleviate this issue
Okay thank you a lot
I still have 2 teams...if I don't bother too much...
Landorus still therian or normal
Sorry why superpower if it's a spa?
enamorus can go physical/mixed since its attack is still high enough and contrary superpower means you get a atk def boost from superpower
therian fits better on flying
.
It has a lot of issues
I feel it
Fire is bad
Moonblasr super p and healing wish, last? Psychic or mist fire? Or earth p
Kommo o outspeed and OHKO my team
its kommoo, not much you can really do. even scarf gholdengo is dealt with
Sad
Bouta start a team
With kommo o
Any suggestions?
what type?
I wrote it
But I'm lagging
Idk if fight or dragon
Dragon fav type fav mon they mostly have to set up but it's not a problem
Fight good as well for Mons moves priority moves
So idk really. First I want to see what I can change io the fire team, then I'll start a dragon team
hi
let's make you a standard ndm normal shall we
so let's begin by having mlop, you need mlop
use Close Combat, Fake Out, U-Turn, Frustration/Triple Axel
then lets get defensive Staraptor to patch hazard issues, use Brave Bird, Roost, Defog, U-Turn with max hp, 16 speed, the rest in def and +def -spa nature
then lets use blissey as your special wall, give it heavy duty boots, Stealth Rock, Teleport, Softboiled, Seismic Toss
Next up let's pick one of Porygon-Z or Zoroark-H
If Pory-Z use Z-Conversion with Normalium Z
Shadow Ball, Conversion, Thunderbolt, Ice beam
SHADOW BALL MUST BE IN THE FIRST SLOT
If zoro-h, let's do Ghostium OR Normalium-Z or scarf/specs
if ghostium, Nasty Plot, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Dark Pulse/Knock Off/Hyper Voice
if normalium, Happy Hour, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Hyper Voice
if scarf uturn shadow ball focus blast trick/knock off
if specs shadow ball focus blast hyper voice/grass knot flamethrower
Now we can be a bit more fatter by using Porygon2
give it eviolite, max physdef, recover, discharge, ice beam, hp fire/toxic/teleport
however, using Ursaluna as a wallbreaker is perfectly fine, if this Flame Orb with Guts, facade, headlong rush, fire punch, drain punch/ice punch
using Diggersby with SD is also fine as it is a bit faster, but Rockium-Z (if you dont use zpz or z-zoro) with Sd Stone Edge Earthquake Quick Attack
lastly we can just go either Choice Scarf Ditto or something like Choice Scarf Diggersby if you picked luna/sd digg/non scarf zoro
I think that's everything for a MLop composition
Okay thank you
Interesting start, but some of the mons and sets aren’t great.
Forretress —> Heatran: You don’t need Volt Switch or Rapid Spin support since Iron Treads exists. Heatran lets you complete steel’s immunity core and have a fighting chance against Fire.
I don’t have many more ‘mon changes, but making Klefki it’s utility set instead of DemonKey might be more useful. Also, having Rapid Spin on Iron Treads helps as well.
I was using fortress for dark and water type teams and heatran just dosnt have the same amount of ability to swap into and be a good tank especially against water type teams
As per klefki I just put on a random set could you send the utility set?
I ran rapid spin on fortress due to iron treads being scarfed and if I run rapid spin I would have to change that
Steel balance/bo literally cannot function without a heatran, before Home came out, Steel was not a consistent type since you had no fire switchin, at least run a hisui goodra if you don't want to run heatran for whatever reason
Alr
What should I swap out for heatran?
Forretress or klefki, I would lean towards forretress
Klefki can at least be a wincon
Then what should I use against dark teams?
Go physdef corv, spdef corv, run low kick on gambit potentially, dark is not the worst thing in the world for steel
You also have a klefki
True
I would drop iron defence on corv and go defog
Also what's the utility set on klefki?
Typically dual screens spikes foul play
Should I use it?
Idt screens really benefit you too much might as well go the magnet rise set.
For phys def cor I should remove brave bird over iron defense right?
Cause it makes me inable to hit ghost however it still works against any other type
Why they even still keeping banned Pokémon
Or cap
What am I doing with caps
Just do a CAPs showdown
- You should add mega sableye as the last mon to make the ghost defensive core. Switching Corsola to physdef and sableye to mixed defences
- swap out chandelure for scarf blacephalon, better mon in every way
- dazzling gleam is redundant coverage on gengar when you're running focus blast, better for you to go nasty plot in the last slot.
- iron head > sclaw on aegislash, shadow claw is too weak and iron head is your best STAB, you already have sneak for priority and also being ghost type.
swap out indeed or staraptor for Ursaluna, which provides the wallbreaking pressure. If you drop Scarf Raptor, Scarf up Indeedee + H.Wish for a second run w/ bear
I'm biased with Choice Band Maushold over Tidy up since Maus never gets the chance to setup, and has access trick to cripple pokemon, but if you dont like this, consider Cyclizar, as guy provides removal and Shed Tail which is valuable for Hisuian Zoro and luna
lefties or flame orb with Eq Facade Drain Punch Fire Punch / Ice Punch / Bulk Up
can do 144 speed to outspeed with corv, rest in HP, Atk
Cyclizar is an odd guy, he can actually do Choice Specs with Shed/Overheat/Draco/U-turn or Hyper Voice or Rapid Spin or Boots with Knock or U-turn/Shed/Spin/Draco
Which would you pefer
try either
Solid team, I'd just go Wild Charge > CC on Arcanine cause I feel like it's a more useful coverage
Aight, any other suggestions?
Not really, it's a well rounded team that resembles a current sunless fire sample we have
Okay thanks
What do you guys think is the best monotype in gen9?
Generally speaking there is never a single "best" due to the nature of Monotype and how weaknesses work (most of the time). That being said, I think the top types are (in no order) Flying, Dark, Water, Fairy, Steel, Fighting? I'm sure I'm missing some but those ones are all pretty solid choices
Tysm! Im now playing steel and I kinda like it but I feel like there arent a lot of team options
Every team I try to make ends up looking almost the same, but ofcourse its monotype so there arent a lot of good choices.
Some types have a lot more options than others. Right now Steel is fairly one dimensional but effective nonetheless. You need your Ground, Fire and Fighting immunties which already takes up 3 slots. Kingambit is too good not to use then you're left with 2 slots
Yes thats the core of my team all the time😅
can someone rate my team https://pokepast.es/4d2f5bfb459ed9a1
Some things to take note of, kingdra is not available in gen 9 monotype, damp rock is banned across all monotype formats. If you would like to use a rain team, the core of pelipper + barraskewda is what is ran in gen9monotype
Volcanion also is not a mon that's really needed on rain water teams, greninja is the main special attacker so toxapex is always a strong defensive option for water teams thanks to regen + toxic + neutral to grass
k using your feedback is this a good team now?
https://pokepast.es/f5a734d7066cf285
terrain extender does not extend weather
its better off running boots
also u want knock off instead of liquidation
you want a ground type too so you dont get 6-0d by electric monos
whst ground type do i get
Quagsire or gastrodon
who do i take out for it
depends on what matchups you want to have a better shot against, steel and dark are easier with urshifu so you would drop rotom-wash and go scarf urshifu. rotom-wash is useful against flying but yes, i advise keeping urshifu and replacing rotom-wash
because specs greninja vs flying with ice beam is also strong
ok
https://pokepast.es/2ce60abbeedfa84c which one is suited best for my monotype pokemon team
If you want a spdef tank gastro is your option but most don't really care about that on rain water so they go quagsire since it has unaware + toxic
And pex is still generally bulky on the special side without investment
You're right about this being standard, there isn't much for me to say here, could go cc > trailblaze on scizor since ferro beats all quagsire sets
All right I have both cc and trailblazer, so should I swap trailblazer with something like dual wing beat or stick with what I’ve got?
https://pokepast.es/0d1cee631cdac458
My first try at a VGC team also kinda counts as a Ground team, so it’ll go here!
Well this isn’t monotype so you’re likely better off trying the VGC channel
fair
i posted there first
Roost or Knock Off
I'd also do Psychic > Stored Power on Jirachi so it isn't dead weight if it has to switch out, especially in the Fighting matchups.
Other than that this team is great 👍
https://pokepast.es/aec4754c06569088 This team is an offensive poison team, using glimmora to set hazards to break sashes, beat other glimmoras, and keep hazards off as best as possible so your sashed attackers can do their thing (you can replace my sneasler set with a choice band/scarf and four attacks if you want to)
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal, @stable zinc, @balmy stream. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
?
Offensive poison is very meh and you'd rather use balance at the most
Giving a breath of fresh air to poison players who hate stalling their opponents with a triple regenerator core tbh
You don't need to use full-on stall
But if you want an offense team, Poison isn't the type to optimally build
it wouldnt be a HO angle but you can easily go sneasler + iron moth + alomuk as the offensive core then have your defensive mons
https://pokepast.es/3e050834393a12f0
this is a fighting type team with an unburden sneasler lead and is goiong to be used for a somewhat harsh competition tourney and would like it to be rated
i understand that my team is mostly physical thus i'd need to sweep extremely fast against things like a hyper defensive gargancl or avalugg and how i have no defensive mons basically whatsoever but the competition is kinda basically just if you cant beat the other guy faster than they can you, you gonna die
New Mono RMT @fathom maple, @midnight tiger, @prisma lynx, @pulsar inlet, @pulsar harbor, @quasi rock, @turbid garnet, @rugged shore, @limber basin, @balmy stream, @lyric sandal, @stable zinc, @balmy stream. I won't notify you again for at least 6 hours.
edited msg to fix the pokepaste link, sent an incorrect link
putting my team strategy in spoilers in case someone wants to first fight me blind
||my counter to poison in the beginning is kinda bad tbh cause if i know i cant knock them down fast then i just depend on a gambler's hit and hope dire claw sleeps or paralyzes||
||quaquaval is my 2nd mon usually and would use aqua step first safely thanks to sash (hopefully no hazards nor weather) and if i dont trigger sash then i try for endure if i know itll hit me low so i can sweep with reversal||
||im reluctant on making quaquaval my rapid spinner because hes the one i dont want to get hit with hazards so im thkning of making my iron hands rapid spin if it can. it cant :(. so now i ironically am weak to hazards except on the mon they set it up on and yet none of my mons can counter the hazards effectively. i can switch aqua step for rapid spin but i'd lose the powerful stab move and would only work if i switch into him after reading for a hazard setup (e.g glimmora start against sneasler)||
- Punching Glove on Urshifu with Swords Dance over U-turn
- Sneasler is better as a scarfer and would rather have Switcheroo/Toxic Spikes and U-turn over Acrobatics and Fake Out
- You're lacking hazard control and a good physdef option so Great Tusk would be great over Quaquaval with earthquake, knock off/taunt, rapid spin, and Stealth Rock
- Zamazenta is too good not to use and would be over Pawmot, a Iron Defense, Substitute, Crunch, and Body Press set works well here
If you'd still like to use Unburden Sneasler (Use Air Balloon and Swords Dance over Fake Out), Urshifu can be your scarfer with Thunder Punch over Aqua Jet and you can use U-turn again
Just a comment but Fighting will always be physically oriented outside of Iron Valiant unfortunately but mixed Lucario can work too
The main reason i do fake out gem is because of sash sticky webbers, i fake out to counter sash and hopefully one shot the mon
also i may do the swords dance urshifu but i initially used sash cause of how squishy urshifu is some times
zamazenta used to be in my team and then pawmot was a good pair with a lot of my mons like quaquaval, then endure then back to speed reversals
leppa pawmot is always annoying for enemies
Urshifu is quite bulky physically which it capitalizes on frequently
yeah ill probably do the scarf
i had aquajet to at least have a likely trade and information gain
Jet is good with swords dance
so sash swords jet?
iron valiant is my psychic type against poison types and general typing coverage
and yeah like you said basically my only option for spatk
Punching Glove
Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Substitute
- Iron Defense
so personally i want to say put the hp into defense but i can see how with the base stats of zamazenta, hp is better due to general tank coverage
HP makes the Substitute stronger
ah i thought it'd be something similar to mimiku where i survive a hit 100% so i safe swords dance then priority sweep
aight makes more sense
smogon's build was this but with rest instead of subs
Mimikyu is very fragile but Punching Glove works really well with Surging Strikes
wait but doesnt glove not work on aqua jet
wouldnt it be more beneficial to use a more generalized damage source like muscle band or life orb
also i thought the pawmot after revives could set terrain because usually when i start pawmoting the opponent stops doing things correctly or efficiently
though ill likely replace with great tusk for coverage
The point of Punching Glove is to remove as much chip as possible while also giving Surging Strikes a bit of a boost
Unseen Fist bypasses Spiky Shield
Oh ye lmao
But Zapdos' Static, Volcarona's Flame Body, and Rocky Helmet chip from like Garchomp, Toxapex, Amoonguss, etc.
Yeah especially garchomp rockhelm is annoy8ng with multi hit moves
RockySkin hurts
Dragon Monotype Team for - Drag gym team (prior to gen 9, no tera)
Find myself getting to 1300-1400 elo but being fucked over by sun/rain teams with the common themed Swampert. Looking for tips with dealing with this and tips with battling with dragon monotype in general if anyone has experience
yeah i think u good
just wait a bit
Will do, hopefully someone who dragon monotypes will see that soon enough
Missing a scarfer, there's a lot of problems with this team on both sets and mons. What were you building around?
(A momen)
wait how did you even ladder with this team? M.Char is illegal for mono drag
???
ran it in gen 9 nat dex w/o using tera as the team is allowed inn game
should have explained that
apologies
I just wanted to have real good type coverage overall with no major weaknesses between my mons
oddly enough, the type least prepped w/ this is actually dark ;w;
but who did you want to build around, anyway?
Dark and also bug are terrible mono types even though bug is one of my favorites I don't expect to see to many of those
(in game there's no M.Char tho)
Anyway Dragapult is legal in Gen 9 ND, use him as he's the fastest strongest mon available for Drag, Scarf Latios is almost outclassed by Scarf Roaring Moon if ever, Kommo-o is better served with Z
For Swampert woes Sub-Roost Kyurem can help there, with Kyurem being a Ice-neutrality too.
Rapid Spin Cyclizar or Defog Latis (Without the scarf) can be a thing, so that you can use M.Zard in peace. Dragonite also prefers boots since getting multscale broken is bad.
Hisui Goodra needs HSlam to fully check fairies, notably letting you murder both Lele and M.Dia on one slot, letting you get more bulk/coverage if ever. Flamethrower is great on her btw
wait so like, you dont have a pokemon you particularly like there?
because in that case you can just try the samples
but if, like, you want to build around Zam or someone not in the samples we can try
I do its alakazam hes in my top 3 but I'm not the best at building around a single pokemon
If Building around Alazakam, well, we first consider the traits guy has. Our options being
- Retaining base Zam, allowing us to use a physical wallbreaker like M.Gallade to beat up stuff like Alolan Muk and Celesteela which wall Zam.
- Use Mega Alakazam, which provides it with a very nice speedtier, and has trace which lets it flip the script on Water/Ground teams due to getting Swift Swim/Sand Rush
On both:
Due to guy's frailty, we sort of want Psychic terrain on him as 1.) It protects us from stinky sucker punch and 2.) It lets us use a very strong Expanding Force if ever (its BP gets doubled under terrain). Tapu Lele is preferred over Indeed as while Indeed has H.Wish + Ghost Immune, Lele's immediate wallbreaking/cleaning capability + Fairy typing is much better, esp against stinky, stinky Dragons and Darks. Lele will usually be your choice scarf user, but if you're using M.Zam, you can use a Z move instead to pulverize M.Zam checks after a Calm Mind.
Aside from Lele, we'd also want something that brings Alakazam in well (as because its frail so cant really get in without getting bopped hard). Stuff like U-turn Celebi (its also great against water, ground, and provides Rocks if you wanted to + beats Hisui Samurott which is fringe but very annoying), Jirachi (Its a steel type which is a good type, has Stealth Rock, etc), Slowbro with Teleport (Walls most physical attackers, and gets u in safely no matter what because of Teleport's mechanic), Galarian Slowking (Has Chilly reception + Tspikes to wear down opponents + absorbs tspikes which is more relevant if using M.Zam) and Victini (A physical attacker yay! Also beats stinky steels which Zam doesnt like) would be a good option. Ideally pick two from what I said
Assuming path 1 is taken:
Focus Sash would be better as with Magic Guard, Alakazam becomes a failsafe that can always live to revenge kill something. In that case, Expanding Force/Focus Blast/Dazzling Gleam or Counter or HP Ice or Shadow Ball (Pick 2) would be great.
Assuming path 2 is taken:
your moveset will likely be Expanding Force/Focus Blast/Energy ball (to kill swampert) or Shadow ball or Nasty Plot or Sball or Dazzling. FBlast + Sball lets you annoy Steel well enough, while FBlast + Dazzling annoys non-Muk Poison.
If you dont have a scarfer by this time, Scarf Latias or Jirachi would be nice as both have HWish, Jirachi can Trick and isnt really pursuit bait, while Latias can defog and revenge kill something like scarf blace.
I hope this helps
We got M.gallade because Alakazam has a better abilty before mega evolving so it uses life orb better
He takes no damage from life orb with magic guard and G.Slowking has the bulk to switch in to
You can if you want to
It's better if you upload your team to https://pokepast.es/ as it will tag raters. That being said, I wouldn't replace Great Tusk here
I wouldnt replace tusk, he is quite essential to fighting, that said there is room for experimenting wth its sets. A personal favourite is the same set but max speed and attack, soft sand, and headlong rush over earthquakee to blow past poison teams wth ease. Rest of your team is knd of standard but double scarf isnt necessary, id change the valiant to specs. I'd also recommend dropping either urshifu or breloom for iron hands w/assault vest so you can have a temporary sponge for "weaker" moonblasts, such as from scarf enamorus
Dark balance needs sableye (the Fighting immunity) or else the team is just 6-0d by zamazenta
oh thats true
Not a bad start by any means, muk is better as a spdef wall with protect black sludge tho in this meta and like ttk said using sab is kinda necessary
Id drop samu for it
changes:
- samu -> sableye for reasons ttk said above
- av muk -> spdef leftovers w tect for longevity vs fairy / scarf enam etc
What attribute said is pretty much what to do
Hey, are you new around here my friend? Havent seen your name before (:
thanks guys
The meowscarada and greninja slot are super like, free to mess around, lots of viable guys
Kingambit, hydreigon, hoopa unbound
oh there's no kingambit, if it comes down to it you'd probably want to use it over meowscarada
And such
speed control is kind of w/e
Also consider choice band chien pao to really blast through flying, if ur comfortable playing arounds rocks
You want hdb on Sableye over lefties
There really isnt much, flame is usually better than ep on hydrei as you smoke corb, kingambit uses speed to outpace corb as your gameplan vs flying is to kill corb.
Encore is nicer on sab over taunt imo as you lock setuppers, and tinglu can do with whirlwind or ruination, but the set you have isnt bad
Psychicfangs over sd is notable on paopao, but you'd have to drop sd then...
ye fairy is hard to beat without heavy slam tho on tin
but I might get rid of body press
Ur not beating fairy without muk regardless
Also not to clash other helpers but i think leaving the hydreigon set as is
Is fine
+2 flame and dark pulse both 2hko spdef corv, differencenis bare. Meanwhile ep hits goodra n tran way harder, is good vs poison, and strong vs water
There's a lot of pokemon here that mono ice does not run. Aurorus is not good. Tera is also banned in all monotype formats so building with it in mind is not the best approach
If you would like to build with belly drum cetitan, keep it and ninetales then use pokemon like baxcalibur, arctozolt to threaten water teams
The teras were from another tier that i copied and pasted from, i'm keeping it monotype
Right now i am currently trying to find a way to deal with sneasler and lopunny without having to sack froslass
Wait, if I remove aurorus, what counter do I have for volcarona?
piloswine is the volcarona check
They're mid in Gen 9 mono, and outright bad in NDM
Assuming this is NatDexMono you have good guys like Baxcalibur and Kyurem (Dragons and help with Water and Poison matchups too), Weavile for a fast guy, Galarian Darmanitan...
Are crabominable, vanilluxe and glaceon viable?
Glace only in Gen9 mono
Rest arent
Can check the vrs if you want tho
Last question: any tips for using froslass in a way that i don't have to sacrifice it to the first mon i see?
Not really, Froslass' movepool is sort of made for a suicide lead: Set Spikes, Taunt the Defog user/opposing entry hazard setter, and then spam Will-O-Wisp/Thunder Wave before you try to take down an opponent with you via Destiny Bond.
I'm not a huge fan of Froslass in NDM though as I typically rely on Cloyster/Piloswine for entry hazards if ever.
(Mostly Piloswine as Choice Scarf Cloyster is quite slow and only slightly helps with Fire)
Wait, does having stealth rock piloswine make froslass redundant?
Darkmono type team :))))))))))))))))000000
No, but on ndm Cloy is more reliable than lass
If you're going screenies there's a huge lack of setuppers here at least, make pao sd and get something like kingambit over ttar
A quicker fix would be going balanced with sab over grimm, then possibly hydrei over goltres as he's more reliable outside screens than kingambit over ttar
Alright so i should put swords dance on my chienpao
yea, though if you're screenless band is fine (but if screens SD would be nicer)
whats a sd>
SwordsDance
?
Swords Dance / Icicle Crash / Sacred Sword / Ice Shard on Pao
you can use Crunch, but your other team mates should be able to deal with Toxapex and Ghold which wall this Chien Meow
Ok i did that my now i dont have much tanky pokemon
like i dont have tinglu cuz im using king ambit now
no ttar, you mean ;w;
Encore is better nowadays because you lock stinky setuppers instead of forcing them to attack the poor gremlin
But it wont go first
it will, because prankster gives status moves the same priority as priority moves (eg Ice Shard)
Oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh
it wont work at all vs dark types tho
moltres might be worse than hydrei btw
intresttinngggggg
moltres sort of prefers to be on screens because it needs the bulk screenies give to pull it off
what do i lead it with
Ice Shard on Pao btw, Band wont let you swap moves
u sure screens arent better?
its up to preference, but screenless is usually the stable-er one
screens HO is definitely fun though
Any idea how I can improve the team to make it less weak to mono ground ?
Air Balloon on Gholdengo with max Spe
Make Corviknight max HP/SpD and maybe try Air Balloon Gholdengo
thing is I like having a garg counter with covert cloak
Rock is pretty bad and it's an easy matchup overall
it's already on tinkaton...
About to get to that
kk
Remove Tink for Hisuian Goodra
3A like Draco, Tbolt, and Ice Beam + Protect although those moves can fluctuate depending if u like eq or flame more
252 HP / Enough Spe for Azumarill / rest into SpA/SpD
you as well ^_^
ye
Bulk up taunt corv can solo majority of ground teams
As far as the tinkaton slot goes, both hoodra like Giyu suggested or also orthworm work
yeah but i like the team i have now
https://pokepast.es/e6f26c0064630ac5 monotype dark
Rate it papppppppppiiiiiiiiis i switched most
Pao always wants priority on sd sets, Icicle crash crunch are always locked in, sacred sword/psychic Fangs are the options
Then you have ice shard as priority
Dark doesnt really function without sableye right now, grimmsnarl brings questionable amount of help to the table.
If you are going for a screens playstyle id say drop the scarfer and tinglu and maybe commit to 5 setup mons, only way its worth it.
If you do go the sableye route, drop grimmsnarl for it. From thre its a matter of fixing up sets. The ting-Lu is fine but dropping slam or whirl for spikes is an option. Meow should have Flower Trick, Play Rough, Knock Off, Uturn. Chien, as TTK just said, should have a priority move.
The moltres is like fine I guess but there is a dozen other good options in that slot. Hydreigon, Greninja, Alolan Muk, Hoopa-Unbound all do more work for dark
Go fully physdef on sableye, you already have ting lu as the special wall
Lokix also isn't needed here one of darks special attacks will do: greninja, hydreigon, hoopa-u
this didnt exactly adress most of the problems, there is indeed a sableye now. Set is fine just do max physdef
In this case, Gholdengo is better than Jirachi yes
The team looks pretty standard otherwise
Oh Woops I didn’t see the first one.
Have a good offensive set?
How’s this?
I've been looking to replace rotom frost with something else. What are some good replacements?
I've already replaced aurorus with pilowsine btw*
is there a good muk alohan set for dark
Muk-Alola @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Poison Jab / Poison Fang
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch / Rock Slide
- Protect
I've been thinking about switching hidden power fire in ninetales for encore, but then i won't have a check for scizor
Encore can counter scizor, if you use encore when the scizor uses swords dance and switch out to darmanitan galarian, you can use flare blitz and K.O. it.
As a steel type player, I’ve had that happen too many times.
Can I pls get a monotype type tier list?
???
Cat opinion
S: Would never go wrong using
Dark (You can build for pretty much any matchup, but in return you get no hazard control)
Fairy (Flutter Mane + Setup + Screens + Healing Wish???? = Great type)
Flying (When the Chien-Pao and Kingambit are checked, oh wait that Pao is banded.... anyway, too many good mons to deal with nearly every matchup)
A: Not much can go wrong, but they're not really as dominant
Steel (Gets murked by Water and Flying)
Fighting (Gets murked by Fairy and Dark)
B: They actually have bad matchups, but are still great types
Water (No matchup is 100% easily winnable, but they're doable)
Ground (Bad matchup in Water and Dark)
Ghost (really, really bad Dark matchup, painful Hisuian Samurott Matchup, very easy Fighting, Flying matchups)
Bug (Bad matchup with Water, Steel, not impossible matchup with Flying and Fighting, great vs Fairy and Dark)
C: Dont bring these types if you suspect the ladder is high on the feared type
Dragon (almost always loses to Dark, struggles with Fairy, Fighting, and Ghost, great Ground, Water, Flying, Steel matchup)
Fire (almost always loses to Dragon, Ground, struggles with Water and Fairy, great Bug, Steel, Fighting, Dark matchups)
Poison (Has a tendency to lose to Dark, Flying, Ground, Dragon, but great into Water, Fighting, Bug)
Electric (Its a very ??? type. It can be great for Ground, Steel, Ghost, sort of difficult Fairy and Dark matchups, but Fighting matchup is sort of ._.)
D: (D:)
Psychic (You committed matchup fishing and hope Espathra wins. As if the top types being Ghost and Dark arent a warning enough)
Normal (You like Ursaluna and Hisui Zoroark. Its honestly not that bad, but its just so weird)
Ice (You hope that Steel, Fighting, Fairy doesn't come, but you have a good matchup with Water, Poison, and Ground, so...)
Grass (You used catnip to lure away the Chien-Pao and you hope that no one with a Fire move will punch through you)
????
Rock (???)
Grass' viability when Chien-Pao's banned 📈 (real)
ngl yes
I think Grass can be good, but stupid cat just ...obliterates
I mean even with Pao gone there's Bax, and Hatt is painful to check honestly
but at least you're not losing every 3rd match
grass is p good into fairy/water/ground but it just fears dark/flying so much
petition to bring back ferrothorn
Flying isnt that bad, esp if that flying has no moltres
Fairy can be bad because what is a Hatt and FM check
idk, im seeing a lot more physdef corv recently which hisui lilli can struggle against
Aside from tinka
I mean you can continue setting up on corv
It cant hurt lili
Corv always needs bpress and head anyway, the concern is something like scarf enam which forces you out
been using brute for ghost mu
Bonnet-chan
Brute Bonnet @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Close Combat
- Spore
Doesnt black glasses have good numbers
Iirc we toyed around in room and it actually kills fm
i remember calcing glasses and it had a chance to ohko fm but wasnt guaranteed
Chance ;-;
if only booster was legal
Corv is still 2hkod and you could get lucky with sleep to get 2 vds
also you have to use stinky seed bomb
I think you dont need grass stab
i suppose crunch is good for dirge ye
Dirge is hard for grass
if only zarude had sucker
for me this team is extremly good winning alot of matching i come up agaist
and i think ting lu special defense doesnt come usefull much
Go specially defensive ting lu with leftovers so you can run hazards. You go specially defensive ting lu because sableye is physically defensive and has utility to beat physical mons with wisp, ting lu still takes physical hits very well plus if you invest in spdef it can actually handle non specs fairy types like flutter Mane and enamorus
I dont enjoy running hazards
Yeah, hazards is almost entirely tinglus purpose on the type, as far as special like walls go generally amoongus is the go to.
Well thats kind of how dark plays
Its an offence type with a very poor defensive backbone
Amoonguss?
I love just beating people up with punching with ting Lu
If u get hazard stacked on u just lose so u need to counter stack first
saw someone in the chat that said u shouldnt run hazards in darj
Oh
Idk who that was but they are dead wrong
And do not know what they r talking about
Hazard stack is like what dark is
U cripple things with hazards, knock offs, will o wisps and chien pao and then go for game with kingambits sucker
Basically
To simplify it
Obviously its different in each matchup but yeah
Oh also life orb greninja is bad cuz of the protean nerf this gen id say, id only rly do specs and...scarf exists but idt its good so up to u. U have meow anyways.
Scarlet send the ting lu I'm on mobile
xD
Max hp and spdef, leftovers, earthquake, stealth rocks, and then last 2 moves u decide between
Spikes, ruination, heavy slam, uh
Whirlwind
I like ruin and spikes personally.
Alright thanks!
Heavy slam is so u can like, hit hatterene in the fairy matchup and then set spikes but ngl that alone doesnt beat fairy anyways and if their is screens up the heavy slam does 0 anyways
So im not a fan of it
And whirlwind is fine.
Whirlwind is fine for laddering purposes
i wont have rock coveragw tho
Ting lu doesn't really need rock coverage
https://pokepast.es/2e0eb7fbda87eec2 Dark type Greninja BO
looks pretty standard to me, you can obviously tweak things to your liking (encore > taunt on sableye, whirlwind or ruination over heavy slam, psychic fangs over sacred sword on chien pao)
https://pokepast.es/6710fadb639d804e tweaked my ice team, pls rate
Also ignore the teras
Your piloswine needs spdef to handle volcarona properly not speed it's not outrunning anything relevant with speed. Frosmoth is still a bad pokemon if you want an offensive pokemon go arctozolt
What about the other mons? They gud? They bad?
Frosmoth and Froslass aren't great. There are better options in Kyurem, Baxcalibur, Weavile, Darmanitan-G, or Arctozolt to name a few
Is glaceon viable?
Not really
Are the movesets for ninetales, cetitan and avalugg good enough?
Yeah though I would say I prefer max hp max speed on ninetales than spatk to improve bulk
Cetitaj is also fine
The natures fine as well?
yup natures are fine, you could go jolly cetitan to outspeed more things like base 110s but ice shard dispatches any that come to mind
your team could end up going: ninetales cetitan piloswine bax avalugg arctozolt
or kyurem > bax for a special attacker
Should i put icy rock over light clay on ninetales?
Icy Rock is banned
Is arctovish viable?
no its not
Btw, i've been wondering what to replace froslass with, since while everyone tells me it's bad, idk who else can use thunder wave on my ice team, it's really useful
You should run spectrier over gengar atm
Either sub cm or sub nasty plot
Or gholdengo over gengar so spikes stay up against defoggers like against steel (they will use defog corv)
@balmy stream I suggested these 6 as a possible option to go because ice doesn't need a suicide lead + you have rocks on piloswine
But without thunder wave, how do i deal with fast sweepers like greninja, meowscarada, cinderace, kommo-o, etc etc?
My only option rn seems to be sacking ninetales every time it happens for a safe switch to a fast mon in snow
Greninja you normally bear with bax
Meow gets sharded / outsped by scarf weav
Kommo-o you have alotales
me rn
