Once they're fully charged you can set a target and turn them on to shoot a purple laser beam that destroys creeper AND enemy units on contact, whether they could normally be nullified or not.

Dark echoes would probably be more useful if darklings were stationary.

using multiple dark echoes can allow you to have a continuous beam (need at least 3 on the same echo to guarantee a continuous beam)
as it uses more energy than it can be refilled, even with a surplus of energy generation

as long as it's fed by a darkling that's on, you can't just have the beam go back and forth between 2 echoes for an infinite beam

Oh I thought you meant you could have 3 dark echoes pointing at each other in a circle and then just "ignite" them with a quick pulse from a darkling and they'd go forever.
