Assalamualaikum, my question is regarding the different sects there are.

As my understanding is… the sects are there to try to divide the muslims. For example, Wahhabism was created by the British Empire to cause fitnah between the muslims. Their leader being Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab who worked for the British empire. Divide and conquer has always been the goal from the west.

So my question is… as long as you follow the quran and the sunnah you don’t really need to be part of a sect as that’s more than enough right?

The prophet PBUH never said he is Sunni or Shia from what I have read… he said he is a “Muslim” which means submission to god… If he did I welcome any references regarding it.

I recommend watching this: https://youtu.be/ZKZ4xjGypLQ?feature=shared

There’s a lot to the question you are asking that would be difficult to answer on Discord (we could go on and on about Wahhabism). But I’d recommend watching scholars like Sh. Yasir Qadhi to gain a better understanding. And Allah knows best.

Some people might indeed say that this tern is divisive, but is it really?

As-salamu alaykum,

I need to clarify something. Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab lived during a time when there were many "Khawarij," some of whom introduced innovations into the Qur'an and the deen. So, he wrote a book to clarify certain matters. He was a Muslim, after all, and may Allah have mercy on him and on all scholars.

In general, I feel it is a waste of time for a person to say, "I am from this specific sect.
" We are Muslims who follow the orders of Allah (through the Qur'an) and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him). By following the Sunnah, we follow "Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah" (the people of the Sunnah). That's it. We cannot place any specific human ( such imam or scholar ) on the same level as the Prophet (peace be upon him), they did their best may allah reward them for it and forgive their mistakes if they did
as long as our aqeedah is right , which is following book of allah and the sunnah of rasul ( saw ) then lellahi al hamd

Walaikumsalam

I agree with you when it comes to say that we are part of a specific sect it feels like not needed and as long as we follow the quran and the sunnah then is all good.

Regarding Muhammad ibn Abd Al-Wahhab… he helped the british empire and we know how much damage the British empire has caused to the muslims.

It is because of that empire we do not have a Caliph today as the last one was also forcefully removed by it.

So can we really call him a muslim? One that betrays his own brothers and sisters? Allah has warned against division between us.
