I hope at some point nightdive remasters this game like they did with doom. The mods for carnivores can be on a browser like they did for doom. Whether they take it or not is up to them though. I'd really love to play carnivores on console tho

Most of Doom I+II's issues with mods that I (a non-Doom player) see are related to 1) weird moderation from Bethesda, 2) a lack of curation features, 3) misleading and duplicate mods (so many myhouses), 4) the interface being lackluster and basically needing to be managed from website instead of console
There may be others, but that's what I see folks talk about

Us folks from the other doom servers seem to really like it. It's convenient to finally play with others online, especially on a console. I also think it's way harder to upload a joke mod into carnivores then in doom. I would think it depends on the community too, the carnivores community is not as lare or vast as the doom community, less chance to introduce bozos who copy and spam already existing mods
I am absolutely fine with just the 3 original games but having mods on console especially would elevate the remaster

An internal tool would be useful for consoles.
Steam Workshop is limited to one platform, and I'd not mind giving that up if we could somehow keep our mods some other way.

I actually wouldn't even call it replayability since majority of mods are standalone.
Carnivores basically has just a bunch of free sequels/expansion packs, and they completely change every map, weapon, and animal. The only thing consistent between the mods is the same base hunting mechanics which allows for each mod to be super creative
Compare that to doom where more often mods are mission packs with the same weapons and monsters, and total conversions are rarer

This is very true, but there are some diamonds in the rough, whereas the people in the carnivores modding scene straight up make new games, even that modders engine they added and keep updating is so fascinating

Yep, I the PC that I have used for the last 8 years has a whole assortment of games through Steam and GOG. I also just recently switched to Linux, and it is probably one of the best investments that I have done. Proton runs most games like a charm.

None of us are really going to know when/if that happens. Nightdive tends to prefer either shadow drops or short announcements for their games, so all the backstage stuff will be hidden unless Stephen decides to leak it on Bluesky or Reddit
I'm aware there's quite a backlog of existing projects, but no idea what they are beyond SiN Reloaded

Yep, on ice age they rushed to publish on Christmas and BC of that the names are mostly on English then in some random places it's written wrong or in Ukrainian, some mods fix that but if you play ice age vanilla you'll get Ukraine jumpscare

It's because a concerted effort by their fan community to highlight this game happened about a year ago. They saw how well the Turok games were being kept and how this series is kind of in rights hell, so they made their voices heard here.

The mobile port plus the old trilogy are cult classics, you start by playing the mobile then you become an advanced hunter hunting more exotic prey by playing the pc mods, with the morders engine any Prehistoric lost world you can imagine is possible

An example of about where I'd want to draw the line would be how much grace I gave the dude that made the Chasm: the Rift entry, where I allowed him to state his feelings about the war and its impact on Chasm and a couple of additional series.
I didn't intervene because it didn't cross the line of being inappropriate in terms of being not allowed on the server, even if it was overbearing in the way that Grizelda called out very eloquently.

I'm sure this one is of interest to Nightdive after such a concerted community effort. But even so it could still take some time and they're not in the habit of making premature announcements.
Might take months to years still, depending on which projects get greenlit first, and whether Tatem wants to play ball with them at all.

Ideas I have for the remasters. Call sound wave icons: when a dinosaur responds to a call or makes a mating call, an icon will appear that looks like sound waves that pinpoint where the sound came from, can be turned on or off in options. Reloads: make it to where you can reload on a partially empty magazine, an improvement over the original as you need to completely empty your mags before reloading, an issue when you have one shot in the chamber and a predator is charging towards you. Customizable camo clothing: When going into different environments, you need to have the appropriate camo color to match the environment. Wearing desert camo will decrease your visibility on desert terrain, but will increase your visibility in jungle environments for example. Ammo types: for certain firearms, you can choose what ammo type you can use for them. Blunt rounds are useful for higher damage but suck at long range, high projectile rounds are great for long range hunting, but are weaker and you need to take more time to hit a mortal zone. There are more ideas I have and I will post them as I think of more.

I also think that whatever they do with the remaster, they need to make it to where we can turn on and off remastered setting so people can experience the game as it originally was if they want to.

that's not typically how Nightdive has made their remasters. typically it's been two executables on pc, one (when the publisher allows it) the original warts and all and the other shiny and new

that might not be possible with how Kex works as a framework of an engine. I don't know enough to speak confidently on it. I certainly like that as a feature, I just don't see it in any games Nightdive has done, so I assume it's a limitation

the problem with it being a quadrilogy is cityscape being the biggest outlier as it's not even in the same relevant engine. not to mention there's virtually no documentation, knowledge or attempts when it comes to modding cityscape.
sticking with the original trilogy would be easier since minimal changes are made between the entries that can be placed into a singular engine with each entry having their tweaks be present (or absent) in order to match their releases without needing to just have the engine copied 3 times

Coelophisis could also get bolder the more members their pack has with lone dispersing coelophisis being shy and generally harmless, 5 - 9 being more cautious but still dangerous if provoked or scared, 10 - 15 arvarge levels of aggression, 16 - 30 being extremely agressive without any fear and beyond 30 being extremely rare with individuals twards the larger sizes of their size range

Ofc the new map will just have 1 exclusive map ambient hubtable bc the dino roster of the dlc will be the extra huntables coming to the base game maps and to the extra huntables pool

It's currently in open development but I've participated in some hunting contests and was really fun
It's glitchy and some mods still need a bit of polishing to be ported well but it's cinema, gonna be the new standard in the future for sure
It also allows you to have multiple mods in one game and divides the trophy rooms between mods and allows you to store and place trophys

The maps are bigger and you can see em primal prey style

DLSS 5! Jk nothing crazy really just a remastered trilogy all in one pack with workshop support. Obviously modern resolution support, higher resolution textures, lighting, draw distance and LOD improvements. Bunch of little stuff but nothing too major as I want them to preserve the original look and feel of the games.

I wouldn’t mind the addition of aquatic animals as it would make the game world feel more alive and possibly more species to hunt. There should be an og version or mode without new content additions where the games are as they were in the 90s. I’m torn between wanting more/new content while also wanting to preserve them as they were lol

I think smt like modders engine standalone would be a good middle ground, adding enough for mods to expand upoon and the world feel more alive but leaving the core game untouched

On modders there are 2 new ambient fish, icthyornis to showcase creatures going from land to sky to water, and the dangerous mosasaurus to showcase dangerous water ai
It also adds triceratops from C1 to C2 as an extra huntable to showcase that feature and sexual dymorphism on cerato to showcase that aswell
And packhunting for velos and couples fir para to showcase that aswell

If we adding new content then i would probably expect the mobile c2 exclusive dinosaurs to come to C2, but that would be a bonus not a nessesary, having the me features on a modern title would be alredy enough reason to buy the title

The big issues with current carnivores multiplayer is that you need to dox yourself to host by using ip and that you need to chose between the MEE features and CE since only CE engine has multiplayer but CE lacks most MEE features with aquatic ai being a recent addition, give carnivores a proper oficial functional multiplayer and it will explode
We had multiplayer oficially before but was on cityscape the game that singlehandedly killed the franchise
The issue with cityscape is that it tried to be doom, a proper multiplayer dinosaur hunting game will be fire af

- muttaburrasaurus has a strange mix of plesiomorphic, convergent and unique morphological features for an ornithopod. it retained five well-developed premaxillary teeth despite these typically being absent in derived ornithopods, suggesting it most likely diverged outside iguanodontia entirely. although its taxonomy remains enigmatic for now, there's a very good possibility it represents a previously unrecognised cryptic lineage of basal gondwanan ornithopods. definitely doesn't seem to be related to rhabdodonts in any case
