So, Nightdive will pretty much take any IP they can get.

Games with 16 votes have as much of a chance as games that have 401 votes. What it really boils down to is how willing the license holders are to work with Nightdive to get the games worked on and re-released. The votes do help however in showing that there is at the very least community interest. On paper, 16 vs 401 votes does matter because then the license holders can see that there's an entire community coming to the Nightdive server specifically to vote for the game.

So even this many votes doesn't guarantee anything if the license holders of the game decide not to cooperate with Nightdive for whatever reason. But nevertheless it's strongly encouraged to vote for ANY game you'd like to see remastered because the more votes it has, the more likely some higher ups at companies holding publishing rights are to see the project as a viable commercial option.

Most specifically Dino Crisis may not take Nightdive a lot of effort since some devs at GOG managed to get their hands on the classic Resident Evil games, and this does open doors for other Capcom titles being remastered.

Turok Evolution I like the odds of as well because the first three Turok games have been remastered by Nightdive before.

Tbh it kinda is the only thing people want, the real reason for people to want this remaster is because more recent computer systems just don’t support carnivores (I assume a universal problem for most older pc games). Sooner or later not only would carnivores be lost due to compatibility issues, but the entire history of mods will be lost too.

If the remaster does happen and doesn’t support modding in some way, we could be seeing a near to next disappearance of 20 years worth of modding.

And I don’t know the pure extent of modding within other similar games, but carnivores is very easy to mod, because it’s purely aesthetic changes that can be combined into new entire entries, without real programming needed. That’s why workshop support wouldn’t only be necessary but should be theoretically easy, considering the most basic of mods is importing a the asset file and changing a few names in a text file.

in actuality that’s why MEE is also suggested heavily to be somehow integrated because it is THE engine mod, it’s the only one that has new content in terms of ai and features and mostly acts as the framework for other modders to use.

I would even dare say (not speaking for everyone here but I assume is a shared sentiment for some) that if the series gets remastered but has no form of modding capabilities even outside official support, then it would be sorta anti-climactic and arguably disappointing.

Past Jurassic Park games have been brought back so I'd say this wouldn't necessarily ring true. I'm not sure what they'd think of JPOG, but I'd argue it isn't direct competition for JWE considering we're getting another park builder soon and frankly I'd prefer if they stuck to the Jurassic Park: Survival formula for a while going forward.

Jurassic Park lends itself to character action or horror games so well, yet we've got so few.

I'd argue that even if this doesn't get remastered, the fanbase can always take on that mantle. It's worth it, because the possibilities are endless, as it does not have a fully established lore and IP, if I'm not mistaken.

The problem is that, much like AVP2Unknown we kind of live in a legal limbo without an official re-release.

While I love communities coming together over modding a game, the truth is that the entire operation can be shafted by a leadership change where it's decided that not doing something with an IP is preferable to missing out on money from it being handled by the fanbase.

Not every company is nintendo, but they sure can become it with the wrong douchebag in charge.

This is what the water should look like in the Carnivores remaster. Especially the third shot taken from Archipelagos works remarkably well to add extra detail without destroying the retro aesthetic. If people want shaded water and more sophisticated lighting techniques I wouldn't be against the option being added, but I'd like to be able to turn it off at the very least to get that 90's gaming feel back like we've got going on with the likes of QUAKE.

Could even take a page out of the modders' books and add in some extra foliage like Fallen Kings and Archipelago does.
