It goes against every religion

Unless we know who were praying to

Do you also take issue with seeing protagonists pray in movies/tv?

I think it's kinda cool that this game is so immersive that you start confusing VR with real life 🙂
But let me nonetheless reassure you: when you're "praying" in this game, you're not really praying 😉
Indeed, you're not actually joining your hands, and you're not actually doing a prayer.
So I can assure you that your God, whoever they are, doesn't care ^^

Alternatively, you are making a crane with your hands. The kind professors do when lecturing. You are merely using magic to open the door.

Sorry dude, you're wrong. If you read your Meta Quest 2 EULA carefully, all prayers conducted on the Quest 2 device, whether performative or genuine, are channeled directly to the dark god Baphomet and constitute a binding contract upon your spiritual essence, ancestors to the third preceding generation, and all animals and spirit animals under your authority. Cats and Chinchillas are exempt, as they accept no external authority.

Always read your end user agreements, people.

Jokes aside, it's understandable that a very religious person may take issue with "praying" to some random sun god (I think it's a sun god?) in a video game, but it's only as real as the enemies you are killing.
You're not killing real people/monsters, you're not shooting real bullets, you're not suffering a real death, and you're not really praying.

To be clear, if you have issues with these things morally, ethically, or religiously you should definetly let your conscience guide you.

Hey man, you’re not supposed to say that part out loud. Better Gabe gets our souls than Baphomet.

#

But for real though, I think it’s just someone who wants to get that power kick by making someone change. He’s not actually sincerely praying in his own mind/voice to the light god(I hope). It’s the same as watching a character pray in a movie.

I'm not going to getting into philosophy here, cause it's not the place, and it's uh....boring, but I think it's fair they be able to ask for this. Just as fair as it is for the devs to say "maybe not." People have the beliefs they do, for so many simple and complicated reasons. We can respect them without changing who we are or what we do to please them.

If the game used voice recognition and expected you to say a prayer, he would have a valid complaint. He could also literally say a brief prayer to Allah so that he’s most definitely not worshiping a false god.

That would be more than cool lol.

#

And my point was that they already have respected other points of view/beliefs in the way it’s handled now. Asking more of them would be unreasonable in the other direction. Disrespecting many thousands of hours of their time when they baked in many ways around this potential complaint.

If you think that when you pray in the game you are really praying you shouldn't shoot anyone because you are really shooting and killing them
