One more question though. When importing avatars into unity, can you just select new scene and add another to upload 2 different avatars but not have to make multiple projects or will that cause issues? Also how do you just change scenes easily, like do you have to go to file then open scene every time or is there a tab somewhere I am missing?

The only thing that matters when uploading an avatar is that it is the only active object in that scene with a "VRC Avatar Descriptor" component. As long as you make sure only 1 avatar is active at a time, you can in theory have as many as you want in the same scene/project. I would however not reccomend doing that as it makes it harder to troubleshoot issues/upgrade projects and find what you need if a project becomes too crowded.

Its whatever the latest version is for gogo, and then as far as my animations, I tend to treat it as if write-defaults are on. But that's because they are on by default.

Those are warnings but in the off chance that they can help, check if you are using the correct version of the shaders (most likely poiyomi)

The parameter is sliding betweeeeen... 0.8 aaaaand looks like 0.4 at some multiple of the framerate. At the same time it is also making the animation motion time slide back and forth.

Went in and wrote a completely new float. Only connected it to a radial that does nothing. Tested the radial. It passed. Then I connected that radial to a new animation that just moves a 3D box backwards and forwards. Checked WDs, still off. Radial has now broken.

So, when I export my mesh FBX from Blender (using CATs), the skinned mesh renderer on the FBX doesn't have the root bone assigned, and when I drag the hip bone in, it rotates the mesh and totally messes up my bones and animations and stuff... Am I doing something wrong? Please help!

quick question about headchop

im making a new avi and I thought it time to transition to the newer headchop system for it, my current legacy setup has 3 headbones that are all constrained to eachother with various scale rotation and position constraints

My avatar has certain features that I can see a toggle for in my radial menu - I can toggle them on, but I'm the only one who can see them in the mirror. Other players cannot. I'm so confused how to fix this in Unity. Any ideas?

  • I have the "headholder" head thats skinned to nothing and contains the eyes and the head, this is what I feed unity in the humanoid setup
  • I have a "head" that is actually skinned to the mesh that holds most of the head mesh
  • I have a "physhead" holder that contains everything thats driven by physbones (ears, nose, hair etc)

The "headholder" head gets positioned down to my stomach when the avatar loads as to have my voice come from the right place, the "head" is rotation, and scale constrained to it, the scal constraint was so it wasent in the way, the "physhead" is constrained to the "headholder the same way as the "head" is minus the scale constraint so the physbones dont freak out about being scaled locally

my idea is, combined the head and physhead into one and just let headchop deal with the stuff the scale in "head" was originally dealing with

my question is does headchop respect individual scalings or is it parent specific? as in if I headchop the head bone itself (since its not the real head as far as vrc is concerned and just being puppeted by constraints) but I want to keep the nose or hair visible in the viewport because I chopped the headbone would that be honored or because the heads the parent will it inherit that instead?

Hi all, is there any good way to ensure that an animation keeps the rotation of the object when it transitions from one animation to another?

For instance, I have something set to slowly spin, and on a parameter change it needs to move somewhere, but I want it to make sure it keeps its rotation at the point of the change. How would I do that?

Try reinstalling blender. It fixed the problem for me. Was a thingy from the CATS plugin that broke it. Dunno what.

you would need to check what shaders does your model use, but lilToon and poiyomi are the most common ones, and if you would install those packages, it would fix the look of your model

in the "item" tab of the "n" popup on the right in Blender, see if any scaling is not 1 and if so apply transforms.
In Unity you can just look at the scaling in the Transform box of the root object. probably this isn't it, but I've seen weirder things.

I got a clipping problem with my coat. It looks like a mirror modifier clipping to be honest. I've checked the modifiers and the weight painting but they seem fine. Also this only happens when the legs are too close to each other.

To make those bright emission textures, people say to use standard lite, then emission. But i was wondering if i could also use like idk lightmapped or something cus standard lite does this weird shine thing and i dont like it.

Hey so I have a question, the socks that come with the Zinfit base, why do they clip when the legs bend and how do I fix that without them looking weird, like would it be a weight paint issue or should I sculpt them and yeah just be careful?

I am putting on a choker for my avi in unity and im using VRC Fury to do it. when I launch gesture manager it unalligns the choker from my neck slightly and tilts it back. how do I keep it in the place I want it before and after launching gesture manager?

Um one more question, but I bought a bodysuit where the middle is ment to be a transparent mesh, but it's a solid black and I don't know why it isn't going transparent.

This is what I've done to try and fix it. I have deleted the normal texture and the Alpha one, I have applied base color 1 to the base color, the Emission map to the emission slot and Alpha Map 2 to the Alpha. I made sure Blend mode is set to Alpha Hashed and made sure that the Color Space is set to Non-Color and it is still a solid black >~>

I’ve been trying to find someone help me with this model I downloaded. The model was designed to be 3D printed but I really wanted it as an avatar so I downloaded it hoping to import it. Unfortunately, this is my first time doing stuff like this. The only problem so far is the rigging and bone stuff. Since it was initially a model for a 3D printer, it doesn’t have any bones or anything. I would need to completely rig the model myself but I’m new so I don’t know what to do. So if anyone could help me, I’d appreciate it 🙏

Making a hue shift toggle and it works fine, but for some reason at certain angles it does not show this hue shift, there are no duplicate materials and I know its not the material itself because it does snap back to the base gold on the ponytail??? Idk how to explain it this is so odd, these photos are from the same instance, nothing has changed yet from a slightly different angle it is back to the base color

you could just remove the AI navigation package from your project, it's not needed for Avatar projects at all

Is there anyone here that can help with a shape key or two? Specifically two blinking shape keys that ended up screwing up somehow. The eyelash mesh bent into the face on one side for one, and the other has no animating mesh. It's just the base with two vertices moving up and down when going from 0 to 1.

I had to re-upload avi completely since there was an error with script even when everything is fine - Marker. Security checks failed on the first.

Follow the first thing I've mentioned. Whenever you make an animation, an animator controller attaches to the avi and you need to remove it after you're done, otherwise it can cause issues.

Or... if you installed gogo loco, you probably forgot to add something.

whenever i delete the fx layer for my shoes, part of the feet disappear and im unsure how to fix this, the same thing happens when i try to delete the fx layer for arm warmers (when i put my hoodie on arm warmers dissappear) and they become like sticks lol
from what i know its because of the animation since part of a body doesnt need to be shows if the shoes are om/arm warmers are on

When removing you could select mesh, then enter Edit mode, go to materials tab and click on material, press select - to select all parts related to that texture. Or... press L on keyboard to select a single mesh and remove it.

If that doesn't solve anything, then select the missing part's corners and press F to fill the gap, which you can subdivide. Or use mirror modifier to copy and paste part from another leg as example, which is more accurate, attach it, and add weight paint.

When I export a model I imported from Unity in blender. The whole model becomes invisible in the unity.

Export as FBX ALL, uncheck leaf bones, check Apply Transforms. If that doesn't help. Look into unity's fbx, and if it says 1 cm, then you will need to scale everything by 100 times in Blender and export as 0.01 scale and the same settings I've mentioned earlier.

Those are the main problems when it comes to transferring settings from original fbx to your own version or replacing the old one with new one.

Also, it could be boundary settings, if they are too small, your avi will be invisible.
