Hello - I'm configuring a "hair color" change button using modular avatar, which switches the material off several parts of a hair.
In MA, how do I configure it so enabling another hair color disables the previous one?
instead of having to deal with this
Currently what I'm using inside each option (Blue hair used in this example)
zero idea about modular but if you use one int variable for these, it can only have one value. Do like purple = 1, pink = 2, etc.
if the mesh isn't joined there, join it, but that looks like it might be UV island edges?
What's that? Only happens up close
oh then yeah - go to the UV map and see if those are the edges of islands, if so possibly you need to extend the color past the edges, like oversplay

I'll try that - usually I use an expressions creator and just make a slider for the whole hair material, but since this hair is separated into multiple parts that support individual materials, I can't use it. I dont know where modular avatar's own animation controller usually is;, if I could find it, I'd add the VRchat toggle which turns off other specific menu options when enabling another one, etc.

still no way for me to tell what goes where from here, you'll have to select those faces and see where they are on the texture and what the textures look like
its what i just sent u all it is is a outline and i used a black texture thats 512x512

Does anyone know what trick Mag's scaling system uses with scale constraints to change the bone positions?
I'm trying to use a partial/trimmed version instead of the full thing, but all it does is change the bone scale or not work at all
You should get rid of the outline mesh and just use Poiyomi's outline option, unless you're determined to have it on quest, I guess
Trying to set up a toggle n stuff for an avi, but the toggle has an absurd amount of mesh particle triangles, making the avi go from good rating to very poor and just not work. How would I go about reducing these particles?

has anyone got a fix for fixing avatar pose, its stuck in the motorcycle pose but when i go into play and use gesture manager its back into tpose but when i go back its back into motorcycle pose

god were having complete oposite issues xD
ive never actually heard of a imposter going tpose, are you talking about the preview of it in the menu or actually looking at it
the preview ingame shows it tposing and other players report it being stuck in tpose. Only on one of my avatars though and I don'tdo anything particulalry different on it compared to the others
maybe generate a new imposter and see if that fixes it?

define "won't stay" are you selecting the value you want then clicking afterwards?

for context, im editing the animations of the gestures, i want to be able to see how im adjusting it as im doing it.
Drag onto avatar prefab in your scene which will make a new animation controller or put it into your existing one if the Animator component has one
click on the prefab and the animation window should now allow you to preview and record
Remove the new animation controller (or the state if it didn make a new one) when you're done

Anyone know the cause of the eye issue? Depending how far I look to a certain direction an eye would go to far into the head. Could it be a rotation problem?
Preview button, upper left of animator window- once you do those things I mentioned it will be clickable

When you make something for VRChat, you need VRChat SDK (and unity2022.3.22f1).

for some reason for different objects theyre all weight painted correctly to the bones but when i add physbones they dont move at all. i can put it into pose mode and everything moves fine when i rotate the bone itself, but whenever theres physbones they just dont show up nor does it work in game or in playmode at all. just stiff. any way to fix this?

I made a thread for it in user support, but when I put my model in VRC, it's backwards. I see out of the back of the head instead of the front. Everything else seems to be working fine, though. Any idea why this might be happening?

It should be on the root of your avatar. You might want to look up some tutorials on how to make avatars
Add it to root, not armature. You have to do things exactly as it expects or it will break.

There should only be 1 root game object for your fbx

It's the same as working on a car. It's not really hard, but you need to know how to do it, so the labor costs a lot. If anyone could do it, nobody would need someone else to do it for them. Either learn to do it yourself or pay their rates\

hey, ive been trying to upload an avatar but the avatar has the biker pose in game, but in unity its just the normal t pose, i didnt upload it during an animation and the animation controller is set to none so im lost as to what's causing it other than maybe a missing walking animation but im doubtful

an animation, however if something else is also animating it, things wont turn out as expected. All humanoid bones have that issue as when you animate them, nothing will happen as they are animated by the humanoid system

Yo, anyone got a clue on how to make a collider on an avatar that plays a sound + particle when touching the world?
Avatar can't detect its collision with the world other than being on ground.
That's odd cause I saw an avi yesterday that did that

basically ik how do to a floor collider that's not hard, but when the guy hit his sword on the wall of a the world it played sounds etc, and I know it isn't a contact on the player as it didn't collide around him only on the wall
Then that's probably using particle to check collision and trigger sub particle system to emit impact particle.
Not sure with the sound though.

ik for floor u jst use a floor collider and a contact reciver that plays a particle when it touches it but you cant exactly apply the same for a wall cause walls don't have a start point like they do in unity that being the grid
We looked at one we have, it does use a particle to detect collision but I have no clue how to use the particles collision as the method of toggling the sub particle

why does it say im using 80 mbs for texture size when I am using 4 textures with like 0.6 mb on them
its using some textures that im not even using idk where to find it
Install thry's avatar performance tools. It can show you all the textures on your avatar and list them in order of size

but in the sdk it says its taking up 80 mbs
but on thry its taking up 9 mb

Any idea why the skirt is not on the avatar of an animation is played?
If I move the avatar around, the skirt stays connected, but if the animations moves the avatar without moving his gameobject position, the skirt stays in place like in the image.

Make sure the dress is on the armature of the avatar and not just the root
wtf every avatar even older ones show up as 83 mb

the animations are MMD compatible with shapekeys and stuff, but the skirt is to specific..
But every skirt chain is connected the the skirtAnkerBone and that one is connected with the spine.
The skirt should just move the position, physics and stuff will be done by VRChats phys bones later.

do you have the animators setup right? I forget if those are in Action or Base, but you usually need both for that to work
My model's hair looks a bit too bright in game, how can I fix that?
in the material, play with the base color setting, or possibly lighting settings
I checked and adjusted them already but it's still unmatched with the ret of the model :c the ears and tail were the same too but after adjusting they are normal, just the hair though 🥹

hey so im having issues with vrchat creator companion and unity
i followed this tutorial to optimise vroid for vrchat
and now in unity it has no materials or texture
that's pretty normal, you have to create materials in Unity anyway.
the thing is, blender did not export the materials with the fbx
and the add on she used specifically has a feature that embeds the textures into the fbx file
and it just kinda...hasnt done that at all what so ever
well it always includes some basic material. But you don't really want the textures embedded anyway

looks like a lack of alpha transparency - unless you're doing a quest avatar, you can use shaders with Cutout rendering

i followed one initially but it had no mention of cutout rendering or shaders at all because it was not optimised
it was just plug and play, but the amount of polygons was terrible, so i optimised
im having a weird problem where my avatar audio is either super quiet or inaudible in specifically popcorn palace for some reason (maybe the silence barrier?), however i can hear the audio myself fine and i have other avatars that work completely fine there so whats going on? heres my audio source settings, my clip is default settings with load in background enabled:

How do you make things like glasses lenses transparent for quest ?
You remove them completely and leave only the frame
transparency options for quest:
real transparency:
vrchat/mobile/particles/additive
vrchat/mobile/particles/multiply
fake or implied transparency:
remove areas that are transparent (so the mesh around it implies transparency
cut out the opaque areas
use inverted normals
the last 3 options are most helpful in the following use cases respectively:
- when you need to imply a sheet/plane of something solid and transparent, like a lens, glasses, a window, etc
- when your avatar uses cutout textures for things like eyebrows, lace, and other details
- when you need to imply a transparent container (a crystal ball, wine glass, fish bowl, etc)

that version of visual is important and you will need the android sdk if you plan of having quest compatible avis

Make a toggle like you would normally do but instead of having the box checked for synced in the parameters you would just have it unchecked

A way of fixing this without reopening the project is to press Ctrl + Shift + B, in the windows, mac, and linux tab click the selected platform dropdown and reselect windows (even if it's already selected)

so im changing a ton of particle systems materials with a toggle and while what im doing works its tedious and a a pain is there a way to do material swaps for a group of particle systems that all use the same material or no?
And dragging and dropping doesn’t seem to do anything

Just click on ur avi and under the inspector ur you’ll see view point
it seems to be the same as just a normal material swap just the way im doind it is slow and a pain and i have to do it twice once for on and once for off

kinda but im changing the mats on 60+ particle systems
kinda wondering why you need 60+ particle systems, but either way, same process, just add them all to the animation.
i tried it and it didnt wor its the first thing i did and its rudius's magic system 6+ particle systems for each spell 6 spells
in blender, made a new shape key (basis) on an asset, made another shape key but no matter what i’m completely unable to sculpt anything in sculpt mode or set the value to 1
using sculpt tool does nothing
For some reason when I upload this opti avi, The colors change to white and red unless I turn off the tattoo toggle? Any idea on how to fix this?
That would be the cause of an animation causing the color to change

there arent any screenshots for this step so im a bit confused
So im working on a quest version of my avatar, and previously none of my assets worked so i just deleted them all on the quest version. However now several of them do (coin toss, cigarette, card bending, etc). Does anyone know how I should approach porting my pc version over to quest? The model I use has a quest version so I am currently working on it from the ground up, but am curious if there is a faster way to do all of this.
also i am not looking to pay someone to do this for me so do not bother sending my dms asking
i only really care about having the coin on quest, so i might just delete the rest of the assets off of the quest one and just copy the parameter file from the pc one and hope that works

How can I make lip piercing sync to lip movement? The asset is from booth and use modular avatar but I haven't figured out a way to make it sync
You could either do some blender work adding them to the same mesh as the mouth, then editing the shape keys. Or you could make animations in Unity for every blendshape and in your FX layer, control those animations based on the viseme parameter. Personally I'd do the blender method, but I'm fairly comfortable with it and know some people hate or are intimidated by it.
