You'll still need a Facebook account in order to run the Headset. However you will be able to use it like a full PCVR Headset after that.

@tall silo Sounds like you should buy a used Quest 1. They’re pretty cheap nowadays; be warned though that you might receive one with microphone issues and or scratches on the lenses...You get what you pay for.

As for the Quest 01; I think you can still buy it from oculus’s website, but I’m not sure about that.

Helloo people. Im having some trouble logging into vr chat on the quest. Ive tried logging in with oculus which is linked to my facebook and ive also made a separate vr chat account. Both acting completly uniquely.

My oculous will log in the first time but after i get into home it starts to log in again and stops with 10 percent left. It then freezes

Vr chat account seems to log in fine. But when i get into the world it kicks me straight out and back to login screen thus putting me in a stupid loop.
Ive uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now and ive got two separate accounts. Im baffled. Any help appreciated ;)

Yeah and some avatars look super scuffed as it's difficult to actually test avatars if you don't have a Quest. I had to fix a good portion of my avatars when I got a Quest for testing.

You might be having bandwidth issues. It's fairly common with any VR headset. You can try using steam VR.

I do run steam vr through my quest 2, that's how I played VRChat before. But for some reason it doesn't register my voice, even when I change microphone settings in game. That's why I use a gaming headset along with the vr headset to be heard.

Okay, let's try this. Remove all usb devices except the necessary items like keyboard and mouse. Unplug your headset while the PC is still on and plug it back in and give it a go.

Has anyone had the issue where your avatar appears to be floating off the ground? every time I select an avatar it appears as if my avatar is slightly floating off the ground Ive reset my guardian set up but it seems to not be helping is there some sort of settings to lower my avatar to be on the ground? quest 2 with vrchat is decently pretty good when you use virtual desktop

it’s nice to bypass quest restrictions, but just be wary of what kind of internet you have

I dont think facebook will out right ban you for no reason. As long as its your account with your real name then you should have nothing to worry about. The longer youve had your account the less likely they will ban you. I was reading online prior to picking up my quest 2 and everyone who got ban was using a fake facebook account or it was just created and they just had to provide confirmation with facebook support to prove that it is you and your account.

Quick q (please @ me). Does anyone have an issue where the Quest 2's microphone won't be picked up by the system, except for the volume input being stuck at the halfway point with no actual audio?

Quest 2 is definitely worth it as a headset as long as you can get over the whole Facebook thing. But with it having a super clear resolution and also 90hz refresh rate it is definitely a bang for its buck

you can use the charger cable for your quest 2 if you are wanting to try on pc but it tends to be a big problem since it keeps unplugging and plugging in while it is actually plugged in, I'd recommend getting the link cable if you'd like but you can get other ones for cheaper but I'd prefer getting the quest link cable

Erm, Quest by it itself it runs a whole library of VR games from its app store. Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge is my fave atm.
If you meant VRChat then, yes, its not the best experience. You will see a lot of robots acting as stand-ins for PC Users.
You only need the Link to use the PC processor to play PC VR games. This way, you see the PC versions of avatars in VRChat

If your computer can't handle VR, you'd have to update your computer. The Quest 2 can only do so much on VRC without a Link cable

On the Quest 2, the charging cable is the charging cable. The Link cable makes the Quest 2 basically a PCVR headset

Quest 1 did; the charge cable worked fine as a link cable. For quest 2 they made the charge cable super short. It works, but it’s too short to be practical. Probably intentionally.

Three ways you can fix it from what I know, unplug and replug the headphones in (if you are using any), spam mute and unmute your mic, and go to and from the home menu on oculus (works sometimes)

Yeah, you should be able to run VRChat without using your Quest 2. It's called "Desktop mode" just because, but you can play VRChat like, say GTA 5 (Again, unless you're running VRC from the Oculus store)

some avatars are pc only

but most are optimized for quest

ones that are pc only are changed to a robot with an image of the avatar on their chest

and some avatars that could lag the game are automatically set to be robots but you can still turn them on manually if you want
