In the Netherlands you got
'Basischool' (Grade 1 to 8)
Then you go into a 'middelbaar' school whats split between your skill level. In total there are 6 and they go from focused on working with your hands to big nerd stuff.
Then you got MBO, if you did one of the lower 3 middebaar ones you do that. Its again split in MBO2-4 with 4 being the hardest and with that the longest.
Doing one of the top 3 middelbaar ones allows you to HBO or a MBO4 degree. Pretty much uni stuff ish but a tad bit less, instead of pure theorical stuff you get to make your idea's too.
Then we got actual university, not all jobs/fields got a uni stuff here and going there means you did the highest middelbaar one, finished your first your on HBO with good grades or fully finished HBO.

So yea, easy to understand system
