and then i discovered a lot of personal belongings left in the bathroom

Big Clive has a good video on how they work, they use dye that latches on to the covid19 virions if they're present, and the second strip drops the dye out of solution if covid19 is present, which shows up as a visible line

they can have false positives/negatives obv, but they're a good way to tell if you need a more definitive test

Even if you are negative now, you had positives before so you don't just go to work now but still isolate for at least a week

I think here in germany it's always 2 weeks, which can only be shortened if testen negative (with a propper test) with 3 days in a row, but it also has a minimum ammount of days you need to stay quarantined still
