It's not denying them. It's protecting them. Take it from someone who has PTSD, it would absolutely destroy my mental health. There's no good reason for me to join the military, even I know that. I don't want to be in the military, because it often gives you PTSD or if you already have it, it's sure to make it worse.

In truth, it's a win/win situation. We don't need mentally ill people "protecting" the country. I've had family and friends and lovers in the military, all of which came out with severe mental illnesses, one even attempted suicide whilst enlisted. It's an awful, tough, rigid experience

If you have PTSD, it is considered a disability in the workforce and your boss should understand this.

Typically speaking, businesses give a lot of leeway for those who are disabled and/or severely mentally ill. If what you said is true, I'd urge you to tell your higher ups about this, or seek another job if they are uncooperative and don't understand the severity.

I'm currently unemployed, however my dad's company is extremely loose in terms of what hours they need to work, and days they are able to have off. Albeit, he makes 100k a year and has a great position and is extremely lucky to have this work environment. However, it's possible.
