right, so, my entry into the gaming industry.

it went something like this.

circa 2010, I was on disability. no job, lots of free time. An unheard of game that is still unheard of to this day, was in an alpha state. i picked it up because it seemed neat. that eventually lead to signing up for a community forum for it, as one does

but i noticed something about this forum

namely, their moderation sucked.

badly.

so i told the site owner as much, in a long DM, that his moderators were bad, should feel bad, and i could do better than all of them.

which as you might guess, was a shitpost.

to my great surprise, he didnt ban me immediately.

I'm still a teenager mentally

he called my bluff instead, and made me a moderator. said i could make good on that promise or gtfo his forum.

so i did.

single-handedly outperformed 20 other people myself.

so that eventually lead to the company that owned the forum for-realsies hiring me, so i wouldnt go away.

stayed there for six years as their lead editor, and sort-of moderation team lead.

that segued into Mixer/Beam, which was founded by a couple guys from that community that I knew from connections, and they asked if I'd come over and help with their Trust & Safety team. So I did that for about 4 years, starting right about the time Microsoft bought them.

then mixer shut down. one thing lead to another, a mutual industry friend pointed me at VRC, i thought this seems like a great place to be, i want to make it better too

and here i am.

still shitposting 10 years later.
