@delicate shuttle "mod" it's more like hacking into the closed source binary and implementing cheats or other unsupported and often malicious functionality into a multiplayer game that can and will cause all kinds of problems.
You wouldn't just go an start "modding" what ever other online game's binaries either would you?
It's not like minecraft where you install a new mod with a modding framework that's ment to be for that.

the thing is, even with non malicious functions, like "anti crashers" or interactability with other coliders.
People install these without even knowing what they do and how they function and at points come back with reports of bugs or something not working which's true cause is a incompatibility of something or a purposely disabled functionality to "prevent crashing"

ATM you have a really really good example with the people that have game startup issues. So many complains and issues... but then many boil down to having installed a modified client... it causes the official vrchat support and here a lot of extra work that only exists cus someone tempered with the closed source system against all rules.

They should implement some of the features clients use; colliders, turning portals off, social fix, join notifiers and a larger avatar favourite liste. I think less people would use clients if this was the case. There will still always be the people who log on using clients with the intent of ram crashing and Ddossing though but at least the people who aren’t trying to do all of that won’t have a need for clients.

That's more directed to those that forcefully implement things via a client.
There is for example reason why the favorites are limited, there is reason why colliders aren't interactable.
And some of the features are just existing bugs at a lower implementation priority that will be adressed at some point.

All I’m saying is if clients are such an issue then using proper business model, fix the problem, meet demands and move on. Make a beta testing for the things that they feel won’t work. Either that or expect the game to go the way it was a few months back. It was impossible to join a lobby without having some guy fly in and crash everyone. It was so awful.

No ones justifying it but there is obviously something that’s not hitting right with vrchat users. The people who are dedicated to the game and invest actual time into it, I’m not talking about the malicious ones who come to troll, but the every day users. Maybe developers should look into making minor changes in their interface and ways to make the game more enjoyable. Everything needs a revamp at some point.

One of the big issues is always conflicts that 2 sides want.
An example is the 16 favorite avatars limit.
Users would love to have that unlimited if possible, on the other end a lot of creators allready stopped caring about making avatars when it got bumped to 16 because they want you to visit their worlds and such.

It’s like punishing a child and offering no solution or reasoning afterwards. The child isn’t going to learn anything. They will just become sneaky and do it behind your back.

There are like 3 reasons to use a client

To be an cunt, steal avatars, crash people or anti crash or the likes.
Then we have an overlapping group using it to 'protect themselfs' against the first type.
The people who want extra things. From personal experience this group is actually fairly small

Banning the first is fair game, the second is a bit iffy and the last is purely opinions on if they should be banned (they often are not unless they are part of the first or second group).

From personal experience the 3rd group is larger than the 2nd. The first is large but the work around to those people is to just stay in friends + or go into public’s with heavy Max safety settings. I’ve only ever been crashed by a client once. Most times client users will have crashing avatars that cause me to crash. Not the clients themselves. Or by portal dropping which adding a “disable portal” feature would fix.

My argument is more so about a solution to the problem. Because right now there isn’t a solution and things are just getting worse.

I can tell you that the current fix isn’t going to stop them. Client developers have been making new interfaces for months with expectations of the update. I’ve seen people already flying about so some paid clients are on the ball with this. I feel like once clients are active again it’s just going to get worse.

Clients don’t work on the new update but they will, could be weeks could be days and when they do more people will be jumping through hoops to get on clients because the game is full of bugs and they’ll try to fix them on their own instead of waiting for the developers.

I think it's more a matter of perspective and numbers. Like, i think a majority of straight people are kind and don't judge, but since there's so many, the ones who do act mean or judge stand out more. Where as different communities like lgbt are smaller, but generally have similar experiences and relate to eachother in ways.

like i updated my graphics card i tried to change my video settings down to see if stuff helps see if my drivers all good for oculus rift everything fine running other games but when im on vrc i lag like crazy i crash alot took me near 5 mins to even load the game up and when i tried to show people avatar even a quest avatar i start to freak out and lag never did this before the update
