I did the drum thing I was told about . I didnโt have any issues controlling the correct fingers it worked flawlessly I just didnโt like how the movement feels a little robotic (no spread as open your hand)
I wonder if changing that routine would help keep it more accurate.

all i know is i got to level 1 after spending half a week while i was sick all my time in vrchat

User is also the rank where you have access to everything related to content creation. You can upload avatars as early as New User, but public worlds require User rank
So it's like the bare minimum for content creators.... I mean, content "creators" to be able to do everything
So maybe at one point VRC Devs realize all the other ranks don't add anything meaningful and remove them.

New to VRChat here, I was on last week and everything was fine but, when I went on yesterday most of other users avatars where grey bot-looking ones. I tried to use the safety options to alow for animations,shaders, etc; to on but nothing happened. I need help๐

Hey everyone. I have a technical question. I recently purchased a gaming PC. I donโt have a PCVR HMD yet, but I got Steam VR running on my Quest. It works perfect, except after playing for awhile a IPD box popped up telling me the distance between my eyes and I canโt for the life of me figure out how to get rid of it. I restarted Steam, VRChat, my Quest, and my PC. However it keeps popping back up every time I launch the Steam VR version of VRChat.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I don't know if anyone out there is having the same issues as me but I get way lower FPS on the Steam version of VRChat Client compared to the Oculus VRChat client. This is a problem for me because with Oculus hybrid fullbody, you need to use the steam version. I just found out that if I set my manual supersamling rate to 0.1, I get perfect 90 FPS just like the Oculus client. This is supposed to make your view very blury, but for some reason, it has no visual effect, except causing the game to run at a smooth 90. Try it, not sure if it's just me.

I have the problem where every time I hop to a new world or tweak my sound settings my Bluetooth headset looses all audio. The only way to fix it so far is to turn off my headset and turn it back on every time

I found that more work is put into the female avatars as well, I have both male and female (and others ofc ๐ avatars but among the ones I found the female ones are better quality.

@slim monolith I like that idea, that people wouldn't care what gender you're behind the hmd =). Not really sure about the genderless thing though, respectfully; when in irl I don't check inside other peoples clothes (without permission ofc) but I have a general idea about their gender. I view this the same way, don't go looking inside other avatars clothes but generally I think I know what their genders are (not the real people now, just the avatars :p) if not told otherwise ๐

I changed my safety settings in an instance with 50 people and it took ~5 seconds to update the whole room
my primary gripes being that there's not as much consideration being put into hidden objects and anims

Long avatar loading times take away from the experience, it's a huge change when it used to take 4 minutes to load all avatars if there were even remotely complex avatars and 10 people in room. Now it took only one minute.

The rift S lenses have a huge sweet spot. Larger than most other VR Headsets now

Rift S sweet spot is much larger than Vive and rift, and the sweetspot is supposedly larger than Index, although when inside the index sweet spot, range of clarity to the edge of the screen on the index is a bit better

Yes, the Rift S can also adjust how far the lenses are from your face to fit glasses better

Alright i changed my avatar in desktop mode. 5 seconds loading and it was done with a poor avatar.
Normally it did take around 15 a 20 seconds
so tis update is good with the loading avatars improvement
My avatars sometimes donโt load for me and I have to spam change avatar and now my menu flickers and I canโt click anything

there is currently a bug (fix is ongoing) where the menu is shitting itself
i can acces the avatar menu i can switch to other avatars but not top a certain one of mine

also, my vrchat log file is being spammed with 2019.08.22 21:37:36 Log - [NetworkManager] OnPlayerPropertiesUpdate multiple times a second, the log file has grown above 1gb already whereas previously it only consumed a few hundred MBs after a couple hours

Play more. Nothing specific, you're always gaining trust the more you play, but things like making avatars and worlds can help get you there quicker. There are ones who have gone up to trusted just on playtime alone as well @vocal shard

I think stuff on Booth is made with the assumption that the buyer doesn't want to edit the models so optimisation through merging goes out the window for them

Wouldn't it make more sense for it to all be one mesh though if the assumption is they don't want to edit?
Most booth models are in many parts so you can buy "dlc" outfits and there are usually multiple textures for ez color changes tho

No, it's easy to do in Unity. Much easier than Blender- I know from experience.
I feel like the movement tools are easier to use personally
the interface of blender is amazing, especially 2.8. once you learn it, you can do anything easily and quickly

But that's a matter of taste
There are more key commands for Blender than Unity, and with that alone if you dont know them, you are SOL on the interface.

There need to be vrc tutorials specifically in 2.8 now since people usually just do exactly as the tutorial says
this is what you do in blender, if you want to do something and dont know how. the first option is to hit space, a search menu pops up and try typing different ways you can think of, of what you want to do. this often works
second, you just google it. you will almost always find someone who has asked the same thing

I taught myself how to use the entirety of Unity in a month, including but not limited to bones, shaders, particle systems.... I am still learning just how to make the cube disappear in Blender, and I have been using that program for 7 years.
I didnt use a single google lookup or youtube video to learn unity. All you have to do is click around and READ the labels in the menus.
You dont actually need Blender at all.
I have never used it, and I have 100+ avatar uploads and a public room.
If you ever gotten help from someone, I'm sure they used Google to learn something, that's secondhand Google searching

blender is generally better for editing the model itself directly since thats what its supposef to do anyway
besides, even 2.79 wasn't that bad; if i didnt take breaks on a daily / weekly basis, id say that it wouldve taken a month for me to get to the point that im at now, which is heavily optimizing kitbashes for vrc, just short of learning how to do retopology
i cant imagine doing all of that work in unity alone, especially as soon as you want to change even a single part of an avatar
or swapping outfits and needing to edit the weight paints
get this though, some people actually use pmx editor for kitbashing still
Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to get something like that from JUST unity. If you're just grabbing shit from websites and recoloring and rescaling it and adding 50 different mesh items on to it sure, but that's not the same level of customization
the only thing i can think of is that one guy who changed the textures on a model so that wat only the necklace would be visible, then attaching it to their own model
that nightmare is the only way i can think of making a kitbash work in unity

protip for anyone reading rn: you dont shade with grayscale / blacks, you shade with colors. most shaders nowadays let you change the ramp. (an image that determines how that particular material is shaded, something that unlit avatars tend to lack) default ramps usually jump straight to black, instead replace that black with a color that most closely matches the color of the material
itll look softer and a lot more natural. you get bonus points if you lower the value and saturation of the ramp color
I'm with you on lit shaders. People are paying 800+ USD for a GPU with raytracing in hardware for gosh-sakes!

With a new generation of consoles coming out; they will be far more multicore threaded than the current slew of games (same jump happened moving from ps3/xbox 360 onto ps4/xbo).
Thusly - if you get a ryzen with a moderately high amount of threads you're using a socket that supports up to a 16core CPU which you can exchange when time requires you to do so.

Tape is bad for lighthouse mounting since they gently vibrate due to the motors and will steadily come loose.
I've mounted mine with double sided tape and they hold really well

Ehh, it's best not to risk it, but lighthouses are designed to survive a 2 meter drop onto a hard surface while running.
@livid delta tape I wouldnโt recommend ever. But if you are using something like command strips, then itโs most likely fine. Iโd probably add a tack on there for good measure
Speaking of tape. It seems the Vive was only constructed such that the part that goes on your face is held on by a loop of plastic on the right hand side.
That loop broke apparently, and it had been sliding out more and more.
The other day it just fell out and the screen was dangling from my face. Why would they only attach it on one side? It doesn't appear removable.
I ended up sticking 2-sided tape on the plastic and re-inserting it back into the HMD part.
I bought it in December so I doubt there's any warranty. ๐คท

Huh. Yeah but I'd say that having the performance system disable lights, dynamic bones, cloth physics ect instead of hiding your whole avatar is a lot better than always having your whole avatar hidden because of a single light that you cannot remove yourself
I get that some people may not want to be seen as a grey robot, but maybe they need to re-evaluate their avatars. There's absolutely no reason you can't make it efficient.

Otherwise I would've just removed the light myself but since I don't create my own avatars, I have to deal with what I can get and a lot of avatars seem fine for the most part except for either material slots (which I then won't use) or dynamic bones which might get a tad bit too much
That also means that me setting the performance setting to something like "medium" doesn't instantly hide 95% of all avatars present on the server
