obviously you cant answer this for sure but do you think its something that might permabreak due to a random update? I remember that avatar touching with the hinge joints and those distorting mirrors were cool but something within different updates broke them. I guess what I mean is how essential are the functions they use to the game??

But overall, it’s based on teleport player trigger. As said above, if they break that, they break a lot of things. But since it’s vrchat, anything can break.

It seems they fixed some of their issues but others are fundamentally unfixable.

I've seen someone use UI Buttons to force-quit the game of anyone who joins. It's because UI Buttons can call any method in the game and bypass the component whitelist completely.

How about forcing users to perform moderation actions and possibly getting them auto-banned via the game's automated systems?

Because the servers will assume "anyone who tries this is obviously using a modded client"

It's already quite dangerous as-is because you can spawn prefabs without the world component whitelist if you know how to, rendering the whitelist useless.

It would be even more dangerous if someone found an avatar exploit and do this on avatars

And yet more dangerous if someone managed to either open a web browser to an arbitrary page, or write a file to an arbitrary location. Both of which have been demonstrably performed before.

And it seems that it's fundamentally unfixable too without removing the On Click () events entirely. Because the buttons' On Click () events is where the exploit is.

Rather, they could replace it with a new VRC_Trigger type, OnButtonClick

This would make the buttons usable through VRC_Triggers, but would also fix the exploit completely.

UI buttons don't just call methods on objects in the scene, but also on prefab game objects in your assets

And if that prefab contains an exploitable method on a component that's in the game then you're set

Even just a random internal component, and there's way too many of those to patch individually without breaking them.

ik is laggy the same way for everyone, either you're in fbt or not. they're trying to improve it but as of now it's not perfect as they had to quickly implement it for the quest release.

if you're running it through Steam, it will try to render to your headset's resolution at your headset's refresh rate (usually 90Hz)

if your computer is struggling to keep up, SteamVR might slightly reduce the render quality to ensure you get smooth framerates instead of lagging

#

it's usually not really visible unless you're really having trouble keeping a high framerate, in which case it might look blurrier than usual
