@languid beacon I'd agree with you on the benefits of a console war if we were actually seeing tangible improvements in the tech. When it came to Nintendo vs Sega and Sony vs Microsoft, we got better hardware with each iteration. With the Quest we get worse hardware, worse tracking, less visual fidelity in the games, lower framerate, etc, at the same price point as the previous generation. What needed to happen was a massive price drop in Gen 1 hardware; Rift and Vive should have both dropped in price for low end market accesibility while Vive pro, Index and Rift S ||if you can even call Rift S an upgrade|| hit the market at Gen 1 price points. Right now Oculus is just going for the lowest common denominator and if it catches on we'll just see developers develop towards that and see no growth in the high end market. It's a race to the bottom and is bad.

Networking IK is still being worked On. There's only so much they can test in small units. To perfect it, they might have needed to apply it to the whole game to finalize it. Once network IK is finished, it should be better than the old system

Networking IK was in development before the quest. They mentioned it back early 2018. Other than the model lag and jerkiness, the game runs better. Let them work on it in the real environment. Testing it in beta in private servers might not give them the real world environment they need to tune it for 10k+ users at a time.

It means sensorless tracking, so you dont need to put things around your room instead its camera based.
What it does is it makes a 3d map in your room and places the controllers and you in it

#

Its easier to get roomscale as your playspace isnt limited by what the sensors can reach, roomscale means you can crouch, walk in any direction etc

#

Only flaws is you cannot put your hands behind your back andd move them for a long period of time, as theres no cameras back there and theyll lock up

The rift needs usb tethered sensors so its hard getting the same freedom

It's preference. I would not go back to the CV1 Rift myself after owning on one and comparing with my other headsets. Reviews say the S is an overall upgrade despite what some who haven't used it say. There's trade off's and things weigh out, but reviews have openly said given the choice they'd rather is the S over the CV1

Better lenses though which in practice allow for much larger IPD range than is officially stated. And the lower HZ screen has lower persistence which balances it out and every reviewer has said they've looked to see the lower HZ and cannot see it. Those arguments had more weight before it was tested, but the more people test it, the more say those aren't an issue as people originally thought

I am pretty much demi, so i thrive on close personal relationships, regardless of if it's an actual romantic one or not. I have like 3 close friends, 2 of which i trust with mostly everything, 1 i trust with my entire login information.

If they got a new partner, say a new bf or gf, I'd really be truly hurt if they didn't tell me (cause I'd feel they didn't trust me to be privy when we tell each other everything), and a little sad they were with someone else.

Otherwise, so long as my friends are happy, I don't really care. I'll get over whatever feelings of envy or jealousy I have.
