@umbral reef The menu for debug options is the menu key that's often near the right alt/ctrl/shift buttons on some keyboards. If your keyboard doesn't have one you can remap a key to be it and it'll work.

When Thorston came into VRChat back in the day, we all were him IRL as an avatar with the headset in VRChat. We all started chanting like a cult "one of us". It was towards the end of the 48 hours. Then when he finally hit the 48 hour mark he was in a small room with us in VRChat and the walls opened up to reveal times square with pictures of his times in VR everywhere. Was fun times.

Btw if you are looking to make something not affected by lighting consider using the Unlit template from unity project tab -> new shader. My guess is the shader you are working with has a Fallback Diffuse line at the bottom the and you are causing an error , so unity helpfully switched to the fallback shader for you.

Protip: start with low poly, going high poly or sculpting can make things really overwhelming

Side note, external gpus are slightly slower than directly mounted on pcie so not sure how will that affect vr

Unless you need a laptop for specific reasons, I'd recommend getting a full desktop instead if you can. Much more bang for your buck, and will last far longer.

It's just that unless it's a WMR headset, I always find it strange just how many people seem to want to use VR with laptops.
It's like half of this discord are airline pilots, or part of a traveling circus, or something.

Unless it's WMR you're forced to take down sensors/lighthouses, and reset your playspace every time. As much as I love VR, I'm not sure I'd bother for a weekend at dads kind of thing.

I do understand why some people would need a gaming laptop.
At the same time people should really judge if its worth dragging around a bulky laptop that almost always needs to be plugged in to run.

If I was made of money, and needed to travel around, I think I'd probably go with my current home setup, desktop+Vive+FBT, and then have a suitable gaming laptop paired with the Odyssey+ for traveling.

I'm curious how upcoming headsets like the Rift-S and Vive-Cosmos will fair against WMR. Given that they're using the same tracking methods.
They need to compete against either the super low prices of some, or otherwise be good enough to beat Samsung.
