FIrst up, shipping wont start until 3 months in, which means they are still working on it and its not in a perfect shippable state, so its basically a gamble at this point. Second up, the 8K will probably not be smooth in most cases in VR, just like 4K wasnt possible with high graphic settings and 60 fps on the 1080ti. Imo the 8K is just a bait to get people in thinking they will get smooth hi res gameplay. I would wait until reviews are out, after the final end product actually ships, not some tech demo they are giving out to some reviewers and youtubers

Monty, if you want to use it for gaming, you are going to look at one of the possibly worst solutions at the moment, no PC will be able to sustain it at all, under any circumstances, in most gaming scenarios, you will have to turn down rgaphics settings a lot and you wont have any of your improvements then, except for high fov on a low res that will look shit and stretched on your HMD.

The titan v is a production line card, you use it for video rendering as a coprocessor and for physics simulations and hard calculations. Usually universities build big pcs with a lot of those in SLI to do heavy calculations. You can also do a good amount of password cracking with those. @mighty galleon

Memorize it then. Hz is hertz, defined as s^-1, or "Times per second". 1050 is crap, 1060 is bad, 1070 is probably good, 1080 is high end. Adding "TI" puts it closer to the next tier of card. 2070 and 2080 (plus TI) are the new line of cards, 9XX is the older one, and 7XX or something like that is the older line

i originally bought my titan V for rendering apps and stuff and ive always used it for VR and AAA games, it all runs fine. my HTC Vive runs super good on 500% and a added 20% ontop with this card. but thats different as its super sampling and not straight 4k screens. i am not perfect at this so thats why im here to ask.
