The Pug has mechanisms against traveling too far out of bounds, and oversized avatars.
If you try switching to one of the default avatars and all is fine then it's likely an issue with your avatar triggering these systems.

You presumably need to play the game in a normal manner with your VRChat account, walking around, meeting people and also making some friends. Idling won't help.
According to many responses in this discord, a rough estimate would be ** 20-40 hours**, but big exceptions are possible.
Make sure you are not using a steam account because those can not be verified and continue playing the game until you get a notification or e-mail.

If you import an avatar and then delete the model, this works and you can shove game objects into the armature instead, but I can’t seem to find a way to do it from scratch, a 100% unity-made avatar

I see. It's just a seemingly random bug, sometimes you can fix it by reinstalling or clearing cache, but I think it's on VRChats side most of the time

There's a particular avatar uploader that builds crasher looking avatars and always uses the same blueish cityscape background for the avatar preview. I've been trying to figure out if they actually are a straight up provider of crash avatars, or whether people add the crash guns after being given them.
When ever I see people using these avatars, it just reminds me of a old ex-friend. Guy didn't know how to make avatars at the time. Someone put those crash guns on it for him, yet still kept the model creators splash image.
