@viral stratus my shader definitely does not stop texture ripping. That's not possible or even remotely how that works.. if you tested it with ninjaripper and it didn't grab textures, then something else fucked up there.
Also, I really hope you were using that on your own models and not someone elses.

VRC is limited by the tools they got (What means they can only use one core of the CPU)

To my knowledge the only things regarding ik done in the recent patch is eyetracking now works in fullbody, and an exploit using vr ik was patched.

There are base systems within avatars like the tracking or sound that so far i know will always produce a bit of lagg as it is stuff to calculate
Same that technically the nametags cause extra lagg but its not noticeable as its just so tiny

One thing we found (and now use) at the Improv night is turning off nametags can squeeze around 5-10 extra fps out of a pretty populated world.

The nametags run a drawcall for everything your name is one the dropshadow is another, the friends icon is one, the tag itself is done and the voice is one too

I also noticed that full body users sometimes stay in their Full Body Biped IK while moving, rather than temporarily being switched to VR IK (or whatever solver VRC uses specifically for that situation).

@carmine dew Frame lag in VR Chat varies so wildly simply because of the user generated content, and how players are responsible for optimising their stuff.
I uploaded an avatar that initially would lag me out badly, even whilst testing it completely solo in my home room.
A bit of optimising later, and it's over 100 times as efficient as it was before. Looking at it visually, there's no difference. (Actually it looks better than before since I've been working on it.)
Sometimes the source of lag is obvious, when someone with crazy dynamic bones, unusual shaders and excessive always on particles enters the room.
But you can also have the most plain and standard looking model be a walking ball of lag, if it's made wrong.
And you'll have no way at all to tell who's causing it.

Merge meshses, maybe some textures, and you should be fine. I did this for 110 avatars and have yet to lag anyone else, with the exception of one avatar which starts to lag if I draw too much with its marker (despite deleting it again), but changing away and back fixes this

Some people just convert some mmd thing to fbx, throw it in unity and upload without stopping to think (or care) that it's 20 materials and 5 meshes.
And the illusion that polycount is all that matters, since it's the only thing that has a warning/blocking in the sdk.

MMD Models never were made with optimization in mind that is why a lot of them do really bad stuff with their meshes because it doesn't cause lag in the mmd program

My one biggest issue with this update though is the new status system is really confusing and i dont even know if setting it to busy makes it so people cant join on me.

Only avatars uploaded on a new ID and using the new SDK benefit from the anti-theft improvements.
To get a new id, you need to detach them from the pipeline in unity.
It's super simple, but will take a while depending on how many you do.
