yes and no. vrchat doesn't officially support wmr and wmr only has 'native' support by emulating vive controllers
but got it working now, by modding the steam vr and remapping touchpads for gestures and joysticks for rotation/walking machine

Why do Custom Maid models have such high polygon count? (Not actually asking, just ranting a small bit.)

I mean, I managed to get the one I use for my PFP to work but I had to heavily cut down on details and remove extra hidden polygons. That thing sat at around 50,000.

Yeah, pre-decimation the hair all-together is a total of roughly 10,000 polygons.
The front part of the hair is about 2000, back part 5,500 and twintails are 3,300.

That's completely useless info for anyone editing a MMD model, though.
Wish there was an easy way to bake detail of polys to normal maps.

Unity games themselves aren't known for their super great security, and yes, there are ways to rip user models from the game (Which obviously I'm not going to get into here as to how to do it). Good news however is I'm working on a way you can set up your models yourself to make it a a major pain in the ass to actually get your model working, if someone decides to rip the files.
At this point I just need to confirm with a friend who knows to rip models that my technique actually works out, then I plan on making a video tutorial to set it up.
Short version is you make a new blend shape, you randomize the vertices into an unrecognizable mess. You set that shape as basis. Duplicate the previously existing blendshapes from mix so you need to have the previous basis shape active, plus the other blendshapes to do visemes, eyeblinking properly. Inside unity you set the previous basis shape to always be active so it looks proper, but technically the default state of the model is still that gargled mess of vertex points.
As to why this works, is because getting blendshapes is either really difficult or downright impossible I have been told.
So I'm looking into using blendshapes as some sorts of "anti-piracy"

Made a TLDR guide for the anti-piracy measurement. Should be pretty self explanatory, set OriginalBasisShape to 100 on the skinned mesh renderer component and use NewMouth shapes for visemes/eyeblinking
It doesn't show in blender, but for unity you need to create those new shapes from mix. Otherwise when visemes activate the mesh transition between the "exploded" state and normal looking, which obviously looks bad and is undesirable. @polar rose

Just doublecheck before uploading that you can activate OriginalBasisShape and NewMouth shapes at the same time in unity without the mesh exploding
When ripping avatar files from cache via the common ripping programs, blendshapes are tough, if not downright impossible to rip
So you can use that to your advantage
Obviously it's not 100% secure but it works flawless against the common tools

Make sure you don't have an old avatar ID attached in the pipeline manager also confirm in the "manage uploaded content" inside unity that it's uploaded @jade folio
