Depends on whether you're getting the already made avatar that includes it or if it's unique to the person who has it because they could have made it. If it's the latter, then you're going to need to recreate the effect by doing what TD mentioned, playing around with the particle systems in Unity to recreate the emote.

Someone mentioned that you can use certain objects with alpha textures to be able to see through the view blocking, theoretically you can add a plane as close to your avatar's face as possible and give it an alpha channel texture and it'd force anything with an alpha channel behind it to become completely invisible for you.

You'd basically be making anti-blocking glasses for your avatar at that point.
