What I would do is make it so it could only render once every 20 seconds or so and you can't have multiple of them on an avatar. But, they probably have tons of things before they would go and work on that.

Well they said that the issue is CPU not GPU, so it won't matter how fast or how slow it updates. It matters how many times it gets DrawCalled, and what other DrawCalls it triggers. That's why I said that they should limit it by distance that way it won't call any drawcalls when you're not within viewing distance of it. Ontop of that they could limit avatars to only using 1 mirror, like you said.
