back then in 2014, while Oculus was still a kickstarter broject, it was mindblowing even wearing a DK2 Headset.
Even if it was full of pixels and the only available games was roller-coaster .zip games...
It was crazy to feel all that. Today, even if I have a highly modern and expensive setup. VR just feels more like a PC Monitor.
I still get tired from long standing and wearing a VR Headset + Bull Body Trackers. but I would really like to have that lost-in-reality feeling that I had while playing almost 10 years ago.

I don't know if its because I was 14 years old back then and now I am 23...
Or was it the technical progress with VR from 2014 - 2023?

All the things that you was able to do was just looking around with your VR Headset with the Oculus DK1 and leaning forward or backward, if you have the brand new: "Oculus Development Kit 2"

Lately I have getting a lot of random disconnects from VrChat every 10 Minutes or so and every 3rd time or so it sends me to a mostly blank world with a big sign reading "We're sorry! Something went wront!". Happens in private worlds with me alone in it as well. Clearing Cache and Reinstalling the Game didnt fix it.
Any ideas what else I could try to fix the issue (and/or a better place to ask these kind of questions)?

Every single avatar I've edited is on there. Couldn't care less. From what I've seen over the years, hardly anyone uses it realistically, and the people who do often get mocked by friends who recognize the model. So they all stay in closed groups n shit. Most people are willing to pay for things or find people willing to do free edits or friends n shit. And tbh, anyone who chooses to willfully engage with, and give information to, thieves, deserve whatever bs they get in return. Who knows what they're willing to do (token loggers. Key loggers. This is true, but that Launch Parameter is only valid for Desktop-mode. The FPS cap for VR is always determined by your SteamVR settings.

Thing is I made sure there is nothing that would set a fps cap in my steam VR settings so idk what's causing it I wish vrchat would just re add the fps limiter to the settings it was in there for one update then the next one they changed the settings menu ui and it's no longer there

Alright, I need some help if anyone can provide it.
For the past couple of months, when I get on vrchat my mic just does not want to work properly.
I usually have to make noise for a few seconds before it picks me up like normal. I know it's not an issue with how low the threshold is for voice activation because I've turned that down all the way and it'll still do it. I know its not an issue with my mic, because I've tried it with several different mics. I'm also have an issue of where my download speed is ridiculously slow, even though I'm tied into ethernet and it works fine for everything else getting ~550mbps. I've tried uninstalling, going and deleting the files, verifying integrity, updating my video drivers. With the download speed, I haave always had issues with it, but never this bad. Usually my avatar will load in for others significantly faster than itll load in for me.

I did try going through support, but no response 🤷‍♂️

Oculus uses this technology called Asynchronous Spacewarp, which is basically just another way of saying that they're interpolating every frame to make what you're seeing more smooth. One of the requirements for this is a consistent frame rate, so if your frame rate can't hit the expect cap consistently (usually the refresh rate of your headset), it'll lower the frame rate and then use the interpolation to try and reach that refresh rate. This is usually done with the Oculus software, and not in the game itself which is why it appears that you're getting a lower FPS in game. This may happen even in situations that don't seem they would be as laggy, but every frame drop will be VERY noticeable in VR, even if it's marginal, and Oculus basically uses the interpolation to improve your experience. You can get something called OculusDebugTool and turn it off, but it's highly unrecommended because you will notice drops if you do. If you want to learn more you can look it up, but this is just my basic understanding of it

yo idk if this is the right place to be, but ive had a problem since eac came out and have done almost every pc fix. I crash just randomely at times, and nomatter what i do to open vrc in vr, it crashes. usually in the first 2 minutes of me loading into a world, sometimes not even that. and on desktop, purely just random. pretty sure its avatars because ill run just fine with everybodies avatar turned off but my own, but sometimes avatars that are safe one day, wont be the next. ive cleared a lotta avatars with my friends to be sure i can play with them and have no crashes, but then randomely some days those exact same avatars i cleared will crash me. idek if it is the avis, if its somethin on them, if its a driver or somethin, but ive done a lot, and i mean an ungodly amount of fixes, but nothins really worked, for both, my vr crashing almost instantly, and my desktop vrc crashing randomly.

even decided one day i was just gonna factory reset my pc, moved most everything unrelated that i needed to a hard drive, and then spent the rest of the day re installing it and gettin all my stuff back, but i still had that exact same issue, no difference what so ever.

Most vision problems happen from warped/crooked lenses in the eye.
You could fix some stuff with that in software, but id be stupidly hard to do so and for sure not with a simple IPD slider

It's the infamous SteamVR 11 FPS bug when the game doesn't get allocated with proper system resource, due to SteamVR fails to give back the resource for. Opening and closing SteamVR overlay a few times will fix it.

not winning awards for battery life but it performs well, trackpad is great, keyboard is decent, RGB has some cool presets (including audio reactive!) and the screen is fantastic

32 is enough, also a big factor for larger instances is VRAM capacity. But understandably that's not so easy to upgrade as increasing your VRAM capacity involves upgrading the GPU.

It can be in larger instances with a lot of people, yes. If you're willing to dial back how many people you can see it may be ok though.

But it also depends on if the event instances you're going to enforce performant avatars to be used or not.

You’re likely VRAM bound and graphics card compute bound. So I would upgrade your graphics card to 3090/3090 Ti/4090 if you really want more frames. It would make a lot bigger of a difference than 32 to 64GB of RAM

But, that’s not realistic for a lot of people. I’m just sharing information

Yeah, quite obvious, because the game consumed like 43 GB of virtual memory in my case

I had Resource Monitor window opened while playing, and watched the game consumed up to 43 GB of paging file

My paging file was generated up to 62GB before the game decided to crash

I was in LS Media public instance, with people constantly leaving/joining, at one point the capacity was up to 30 people. Still, for some reasons, the game never really cleared its own memory usage

I had made a support ticket about this before. I got their official response, which was to set the system to automatically manage its own paging files for all drives.
I've set that, but ever since then, it's been proven to me that it doesn't solve the issue

ISLC, as mentioned by Eternal Ohm here, on Reddit a few times on VRChat subreddit, only helped mitigating the issue, doesn't solve it completely

Seriously, other than upgrading to 32 or 64GB RAM in order to see fully 80 people in the same lobby, I don't see any other viable options...
