I see no reason for them to lie about whether it's upstream or not. People will blame anything though.. half the people here are literally blaming furries for the server outage 😭

most of the con goers are likely complaining in the furality discord tbh, and regardless of if it was their fault as a group, it wouldn't be any individual's fault, so they wouldn't feel like they did anything wrong.

The same applies to the outages that happened on new year's eve 2023. People complained about the outages, even though the cause was literally too many people overloading the servers. They didn't feel like it was their fault even though technically it was the cause.

Also the convention has the same issues as any other vrchat server; there's no conspiracy to only let furries play vrchat lol

The issues are related to an upstream provider. An upstream provider is a company we pay to provide services & run them. We use several of these, and it's common practice for complicated, multi-service applications like VRChat.

If an upstream provider has issues, we have issues too. Sometimes it's just "our slice" of the service, sometimes it's their whole service. Either way, these services can often be a core part of VRChat's infrastructure, and can take us offline.
