#Subject: Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge Mod Launching Issue – Game Crashes After Launcher Opens

I’m reaching out regarding a persistent problem I’m having with Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge and mod installations.

No matter which mod I install, the game crashes a few seconds after the launcher opens.
If I act quickly and select Skirmish → Launch Game within the first few seconds, the game sometimes starts — but this only works with certain mods. Others crash instantly regardless.

I’ve tried every possible fix I could find:

I’ve copied and configured Syringe, Ares, and their logs properly

I’ve followed full instructions for mod installation and verified file integrity

I’ve run the game as administrator, used compatibility modes, and even reinstalled everything cleanly

Still, the crash persists.

I’m using the Steam version of the game on Windows 11 Pro.

Is there any permanent solution for this issue?
I’d really appreciate your help — this is extremely important to me.

Kind regards,

so remove the mods, check if you can run the base game just fine, then we'll work from there

^^ this but usually each mod will want a clean base install so it's best practice to have game directories setup like so:

Imagine this is C:\Games\ and each one below is a new subfolder

Base Game Install
CnCNet Install
Mod1 Install
Mod2 Install
Ares based install
etc etc
Installing multiple mods/versions across the same base will cause a lot of issues

what mods are you trying to install? some mods require cncnet, some mods don't require cncnet. like Hottwire mentioned, make sure you duplicate the game folder with/without cncnet as needed

i tried here evrything only Intelligence Tech works fine

I always first install the original version of the game from Steam, then I download and install the mod. If I see that it crashes, I delete everything, reinstall the original game from Steam, and then the mod again. I’ve always done it that way.

So yeah you'll want a Base game - not modified in anyway - just a straight up install from steam or ea
Then make new folders and copy your base game above into them (these need to be separate clean copies)
RiseoftheEast - as a base game copy then install the ROTE over that folder
Mental Omega - as a base game copy then install Mental Omega over that folder
CnCNet - as a base game copy then install cncnet over that folder
Should be the same process for other mods

#

this will save you having to download from steam each time and remove/uninstall/clean each time before reinstalling

#

no mixing and matching will give you the best opportunity to avoid issues/crashes etc

is it crashing with an error or just closing ?
if you look in the client folder there should be a folder named ClientCrashLogs - if you have a crashlog upload it here, if not in the client folder will be client.log you can share that here

I just installed new drivers for my graphics card, and now the update inside the Rise of the East launcher is working. So far, it hasn’t crashed.

probably need to change your renderer in settings

I downloaded the standard version of Yuri’s Revenge from CnCNet and installed it — it’s working normally without any issues

molten spoke

try a different renderer though, see if you get any better results .

Yuri’s Revenge runs perfectly fine; only this mod freezes the screen when I click “Launch Game.”
