I have a problem with RA2 CNCnet.. I was working fine for months but one day it stopped allowing me to download ingame maps or update.. forcing update doesn't work when I try it.. also the servers stopped showing up.. tried reinstalling both the game and the client many times with no luck.. I use origin for my RA2 so I know it's not the game. Eventually someone sent me the servers cash file so I can play again but it's frustrating that I can't update or get new maps.

Yes maps can be downloaded

I even copied someone's custom maps folder and it worked

I just can't download them ingame

And also even when the map is there and playable it will show as black and not highligted in yellow

the client is being blocked from web requests, which indicates firewall/anti virus blocking things.

you could try setting up a new user on windows, and installing only the game and the cncnet client as a test, see if that then works?

Are there steps that I can follow? I have checked fire wall and the program has permissions but still the same.. also a new user has tge same issue.. BTW I tried it from another computer and it's the same too. It could be something with the IP? I'm not an expert though.

current live version is 8.27. if you're on 8.29 run the installer again to downgrade

Trying to understand your problem, what makes you think you should be on 8.29?
If it's because there's a release version for 8.29 in Github, that doesn't mean that it's live yet. We haven't actually pushed that update. So, you should be on 8.27. There should be no one on 8.29 yet.
