#Mouse cursor issues megathread

Seems intermittent.
It's actually the reason i joined this discord 😅
To see if there's a fix.
The cursor can activate from a lot of things, one being certain hardware/software interactions with Windows. If anything triggers the mouse position to update, the game will interpret that as using the mouse, and the cursor will activate. If your right stick is no longer controlling the camera and instead the cursor, it's at least related to the gamepad API and this could possibly be fixed on my end.
As it stands, I'm having trouble replicating this issue. I would need exact reproducible steps to investigate. I have tried mapping
+
to jump, but the cursor does not activate even while jumping, attempting to cast reticle spells or doing both at the same time.
I adjusted more settings and completed a reinstall of the ConsolePort via Curse Forge and have not seen the issue again.
Will update if i see it again.
I similarly get this issue. tried backing up and deleting wtf folder to test but get still get the same issue.
I presume there's something hardware/software on this PC that must be sending or emulating a mouse input (the cursor doesn't actually move, just flickers on and off)
doesn't occur on my steam deck install
Happening to me too on my Rog Ally. Have one of my LB set to LT and it was working great until the last few days.
Not 100% sure if i should create a sepreate report as the effect is similar.
- default bindings/settings (initial setup and occurs even with a fresh wtf folder)
- tested on xbox series x controller, ps4 and same issue
- exited/disabled as many other apps that i could think might cause some interferance (steam, xbox app, logitech mouse app, steel series keyboard app etc)
- Plugged out/turned off mouse and keyboard
The cursor will appear and disappear as in the example clip, makes any target selections or spells that target a space to be inconsistent as they will flicker between the cursor and reticle/cross hair. It's not like it's completely enabling free cursor as the right analog stick still fully controls the camera not the mouse/cursor position, the cursor is just flickering on/off and so taking targeting priority away from the crosshair.
I think it’s safe to say at this point that this is a game bug.
Random question, but do you use WSL, VMWare or any HyperV features?
no, feature is turned off (hyper-v etc)
i have a vdi client (citrix workspace) installed though tested also with it disabled/exited
just tested on dx11 legacy and still get the same behaviour with the cursor
Just tested, closing everything from system tray and went through task manager ending anything else I could see other than base system processes. Turned off Bluetooth and connected controller via USB c cable and still get the same
Should add as well, all external hardware unplugged except for monitor
just tested with all addons disabled and still occurs
just cleared out wtf folder and started wow. entered the "/Console GamePadEnable 1" command and starts occuring. so appears to be purely a game issue. my bad i should have tested that first
Logitech g502 x
Logitech G Hub, i'll try uninstalling just to confirm (already tested with it disabled) but tbf i actively use the profiles within it which may be a pain unless i can get a different 3rd party app to do similar
just g hub app from what i can see
still the same result. uninstalled ghub and any logitech drivers
rebooted
i'm going to give up for a bit. it was mostly so my partner can play on either pc or steamdeck with controller option. they are happy to stick with solely steamdeck and i'll use m+kb on the pc
cheers for all the assistance. if i find anything at a later stage that sorts it i'll update
I can take a look tommorow, let me know what to try
just tried this and issue persists
Ok, so the above commands didn't change any behavior, I have managed to get some "progress" however...
- Deleted my config.wf file to start fresh
- Enabledgamepad support via /Console GamePadEnable 1
(the below is the same with or without consoleport on, its just easier to tweak some settings with it on in this instance)
As in the attached clip, the behaviour now is somewhat inconsistent, in the first few seconds you can see the existing behaviour whereby the cursor flickers on and off. Then I press the left analog stick to use free look and slightly move the cursor about, upon moving the camera briefly jolts (as though it is moving to a centered position with right click held down) however it is no longer flickering and the gamepad/cursor behaves as i would expect it to.
The above behaviour is not consistent, sometimes it will jolt the camera and work, other times the flickering issue will return. I also find that pressing in the left analog stick to go in and out of free look/cursor mode is itself inconsistent in activating/de-activating
I use microsoft snipping tool for these. When i alt tab and click back in it appears to "default" back to the flickering cursor
even if prior to alt tabbing it was in the "working mode", upon returning to the window either by clicking into or alt tabbing back the result is the same
the initial login behavior is the same in that it will flicker on and off until i go into cursor mode via left analog, move it slightly then move the character to return to camera control/gamepad etc

I'm making this the main thread for all these mouse issues. I've written up reports for the 3 major ones I know of right now. Found here:

Man did a full classic wow reinstall and addon reset and still have the issue. Basically every 3 seconds it swaps to the mouse location instead of the gamepad cursor
This just started happening last night and it's absolutely killing me
Read the thread and see if some of the suggestions work for you. Afaik nobody yet knows exactly why this happens, but it's a problem with the game itself.
Yup I tried the above along with full reset and rebuild of the options, no other addons, disconnected mouse. No luck. For now I'm just centering the cursor whenever it moves and keeping on
I'll give it a go later today! Thanks mate hope it works
OK yup already had Game Mode enabled and closing out backgrtound processes now
Hello there,
I am having the same issue here with the cursor. One thing I tried and worked temporarily was unchecking the mouse option to scroll through windows i hover above (from mouse settings).. it made the addon work fine briefly, sadly the issue started happening again after a short period of time.
Got it setup on my steamdeck and no issues. Still same issue on desktop though
I did more testing, i used a CVar addon to check cursor settings.
Some settings doesn’t save when i change them, the ones related to cursor center reset position.
I also get the cursor completely invisible if enable the “hardware cursor” option.. it works perfectly with the mod, but then I can’t use the interface with my mouse if I want to.
Perhaps i could add this as a macro each time i wanted to use the mouse? 🤔🤓
When I rebind L3 (left joystick press) to be my Alt modifier, it continues to act as a left mouse button press when it should be disabled. I am able to click on things with it still like targeting things and it also brings out the mouse cursor like other people are having problems with. But for me the button just doesn't get disabled at all and it acts as both an Alt modifier and a left mouse button press.
here is a picture of how i have it setup for my ps4 controller
Yes, I think because you still have it bound to left mouse button as a binding. Modifiers can be tapped to produce an extra binding. Check Bindings > Primary and remove it there.
for whatever reason it doesn't allow you to unbind or change the Left Mouse Button binding under Bindings>Primary. however i was able to assign the L3 button to something else in the same menu and it fixed my problem, thank you munk!
oh i see why it wouldn't work, it can't be changed when you have the key already assigned in the main emulation assignment window, so you have to unbind it from there first before being able to unbind it from the Bindings>Primary menu. then you can assign however you want in either menu.
I did further testing and found a workaround for keeping the mouse cursor invisible while using controller, there is an option in the addon settings which determines the time between detecting the usage of kb+m or controller, it defaults at 2 seconds i think. When i set it to 0 it solves the problem initially, but can have some other issues when you have to use the controller and mouse together for some reason, like navigating the interface.
It might not be ideal in some cases, but mostly it gets the job done, at least for now.
I am so sad 😦 i used to run the game on Steamdeck back in april just fine, leveled two 60’s, then the update broke my perfect setup. Sub ran out, so i figured i will wait for fix. yesterday i re-subed and its still not working. Everytime i left click (on trackpad) with mouse cursor (to look around while running), the camera jumps 90 degrees. So far tried some console commands but does not help. Happens even when disabling the consoleport addon. Did anyone found some fix? I think its unplayable at current state 😦
@west hound have you tried running on DirectX11?
I did. Had no effect sadly.
Hello.
Are there any updates regarding this mouse cursor issue?
What i am experiencing so far is the mouse cursor keeps appearing and disappearing, messing with all targeting, tooltips and inflicting with the interface cursor selection.
It also makes it almost impossible to use the addon with Opie, sadly.
Idk what the update would be. This is a Blizzard problem. I can't do anything about it.
Do you try this? I solve the problem follow these…
I found an alternative solution. I use multiple monitors because I play on PC. When I'm in WoW, I click somewhere and then move the mouse to another screen. However, I can still play WoW with the controller, and that automatically centers the mouse, even if it's on the other screen. Give it a try, it works fine for me.
This is actually the only option that has worked for me ha. Tried everything above but nothing worked. Such a weird issue. Even completely dumping the entire game files and reinstalling/resetting up the addons didn't work but this did ha
Hello, logged in this morning and am having this issue with my mouse. It is not long attached to my crosshair and doesn’t go away which messes with my targeting. Anyone know how to fix it?
Sorry, i’m a bit confused. It looks like everything in that thread is related to using Steam. I’m playing on an xbox controller and not using or have steam downloaded. Do i need to download it to fix the issue?
Is there any updates yet on the Mouse Cursor issue? im still having this issue months later? 🙂
The bugs have been reported to Blizzard, and that's all we can do.
It is indeed linked to steam, I had this issue today, turned off steam and the issue fixed itself.
I cant fix the bugs but I have found a setup that works great for me. I simply anchor my cursor to the center and disable any control with the controller. use it as my cross hair. Disabled left and right click all together just have an interact hotkey simply aim like in a fps and hit the button. works great for mouse over macros as well although you do have to aim can handicap you sometimes But i also use my mouse for menus and such so if you don't like that this method probably wont work either.
I have the problem that the mouse cursor is not displayed to me even though I have set it to always show. However, if I use the trigger button I can move the mouse normally
is this the same issue or some wrong config, cursor moving with the character movement (both left, right sticks), though it was working fine before pre-patch,
update: copying old files from the backup i created a week before fixed it.
I'm also having an issue where my joysticks move the mouse cursor around and frankly it's breaking the game for me since I can't cast aoe spells
Looks like you may have just been running Steam
so the auto updater installs wrong version? or config cause i just auto updated on pre-patch, nothing more
updated again via curseforge above problem came back, anyone figured out how to fix this?
No, just running Steam, the application. It interferes with WoW because WoW is not a fullscreen application.
I'm not running steam on my Mac and having the same issue mouse is not synced since prepatch
I have the same issue with the mouse. I don't know how to fix it. I do not have steam on. Only wow. using no ui or bar addons.
Edit: Problem solved. Wow had two windows. Closed one and now the problem is gone for me
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet by others but sometimes ingame and always on the character select screen ill try to use my mouse and itll struggle to move around as if bound to a general area or something is moving it the opposite direction at the same time. makes it really annoying trying to turn the game off or move to the other monitor
I get the same issue when I pick up an item with a mouse click. My cursor then gets stuck to a small area and will always try and revert back to where it started until I drop the item. Then it moves freely! The only fix I've found is to spam pickup, put down and eventually you'll be left holding the item and moving freely. Playing Classic SoD
I had the cursor issue where my mouse was staying where I left it when last used, and would flicker in and out rapidly as I moved when it was supposed to disappear and would flash my target reticles back and forth. I messed with CVars, toggled settings, etc.. then I restarted my computer.
Completely fixed it.
I wanted to follow up, I found the issue. I had an extension called Internet Download Manager on Google Chrome. The extension part of it is a bit invasive, asking if you want to download anything and everything on any given page. Everytime this would pop up in the background on my browser, it would activate my mouse.
Just wanted this here in case it could help someone. If you run a browser in the background check your extensions. Apparently they can cause some interference as well.
Thank you Thaltr! I also had a sticky mouse cursor and disabled a few add-ons in Edge that I don't use anymore. One of them was the culprit.
Nevermind, back on today and the issue is back even with Edge closed.
finally got around to recording my mouse issue. it always happens when using some items or maybe trying to place a training dummy but also sometimes in random menus including the character select screen but always turns into the mouse struggling to move around
in that specific clip im just trying to drag my mouse to the left as demonstration but it obviously starts to glitch out
This is a relatively new thing, and is caused by deadzone not applying to your cursor stick input. Assuming your right stick controls the cursor, just nudge it so it snaps back to center and it should stop.
fair enough i normally just nudge my character ingame which stops it however if it occurs in the main menu or character creation i end up having to disconnect controller as itll persist till ingame
Couldn't find the issue searching, entirely possible I'm searching poorly. But here is my issue. Have a wireless mouse Bt to the PC, quite often when moving an item out of my bags or dragging a spell from book to bar, the mouse drags, slows way down, but if I nudge left stick to move my character slightly, it reverts to normal speed.
Don't have a cable to test if it happens connected through USB, but it happens every session.
Guessing it's a conflict somewhere between the game recognizing the controller and the mouse interaction? But not sure if so, what setting could fix it.
Hello! Someone having issues with cursor disappearing on retail since latest patch?
I do, my cursor started disappearing after I updated my steam deck, anyone have any success fixing this?
#steam-deck message
Too much to read but one reason for mouse and CP aim swapping like that is the milliseconds needed amount that change between X and direct inputs and for some reason your keyboard/mouse sends direct input (mouse moves lil bit 3rd party program spams key etc). even when you are not using them. In ConsolePort drop the default "2000" millisecond into "50" and it should fix the problem for most. In WoW the controller analog and keyboard/mouse use "swap" and can't be "ON" same time and that millisecond amount determines how long you need to wait until the earlie used input method "shuts down". Old engine and non existent support for controllers and how the controllers and kb+m have made to work together with different inputs is the reason for stupidly simple problem that requires stupidly large amount of work (sarcastically) from a companies to fix. Not 100% Blizz fault but they could look into the problem and fix their game. I mean even Skyrim modders have made Skyrim work with 2 input methods sametime almost perfectly.
aight so i’ve been reading this post for a while now but didn’t find the issue i’m facing regarding the mouse cursor. context: i’m playing on steamdeck on wow classic. when i’m interacting with my A button (may it be gathering a plant or mining a node) there’s a chance my right stick starts acting like the mouse cursor. that makes me unable to turn around, but the cursor itself is still hidden. to fix it i have to spam the “start” button a few times. has anyone had the same issue?
I am having an issue with console-port while streaming through Geforce Now. It works fine and as intended when I launch the game locally. When I use left mouse click while streaming on GF NOW, the cursor appears, then -appears- to stay in place even when moving the right analog stick. The right analog stick will actually move the cursor, but you cannot see it moving, making it very difficult to use.
this is happening as well on my steamdeck, is this being addressed?
Ugh this is happening again. Sick of this. Had this issue before and I rolled back my steam deck version and that worked. Now I have no idea.
The option to use hardware mouse with the new update fixed my issue, thank you
Same issue I reported previously in geforce now fixed?
Unsure of it with GeForce . From my understanding the curser issue I was having was due to an update to the Steamdeck's OS. The new "use hardware mouse" option fixes this issue on my end using the Steam Deck.
Unbinding left and right click makes it so you can't rebind them.
Came here to report the same - I unbound left and right click but now I can't rebind them either.
Sometimes when i click on the sticks. The camera will slam into the ground and look straight up. Has anyone else experienced that?
Any recent solutions to this issue?
Left and right analogue stick clicks don't register as left or right mouse clicks however if I bind left and right click to to any other button it works fine
I’ve been having similar issues. I went to Classic Anniversary and was able to play just fine with both analogue sticks. It’s only playing the Mist of Panaria pre patch is where I can’t use the analogue sticks
Is it this problem?
#classic message
Lifesaver, that's sorted it. Weird thing is it didn't seem to be due to an expansion upgrade like you mentioned in that original post. I've only started using the add-on since TWW.
Much appreciated for all the hard work 🙏🙏
It definitely is related to major patches in some way, whether that is a pre-expansion patch or major content patch.
👆
Ah ok, I thought you meant all new expansion, not just major content updates for the expansion
What I believe is the actual cause is data upgrades. There are other signs of this, random bindings getting wiped etc, that usually occur around major content patches.
Much appreciated for the help, I'll keep that in mind for 11.2 and beyond
Bug report regarding the mouse buttons getting wiped: https://github.com/Stanzilla/WoWUIBugs/issues/752
PSA: How to fix the missing mouse bindings (you can't place AoE spells for example):
WARNING: this will result in partial or full loss of your keyboard bindings. Make sure to back them up some other way if this is relevant to you.
- Log in to the character so that you have a backup of your bindings, then exit the game completely.
- Go to
World of Warcraft\_<version>_\WTF\Account\<account>or if using character specific bindings go toWorld of Warcraft\_<version>_\WTF\Account\<account>\<realm>\<character> - Remove
bindings-cache.wtfandbindings-cache.oldif present. - Log back in, and go to Settings > Bindings > Presets > select your character.
- Execute all these chat commands (one line at a time). Click OK if you get the popup warning about executing scripts:
/console GamePadCursorLeftClick PADLSTICK
/console GamePadCursorRightClick PADRSTICK
/dump SetBinding('PADLSTICK', 'CAMERAORSELECTORMOVE')
/dump SetBinding('PADRSTICK', 'TURNORACTION')
/dump SaveBindings(GetCurrentBindingSet())
- Log out to make sure the changes were saved.
If the fix was successful, you should see true returned from the SetBinding commands:
I urge anyone who runs into this issue to report their experience on the ticket, to give it visibility.
Explain more about where the blue import marker is suppose to be please. There was an update to the consoleport and the UI looks completely different compared to before and the only inport/export options I see are on the top right near the X. Clicking import opens a window that just continues to load forever.
It's now in Settings > Bindings > Presets.
You can also just search for your character's name.
Found it, deleted the files, actually tried just deleting entire wtf folder as deleting individual didn't work the first time around. Disabled all addons except console port as well. When putting in the chat commands, the first one says False, second/third one do nothing and the last two both say false. All characters work as they should on my Rog Ally. On my desktop where I am having the issue, I found that only one character works like it should, the rest have the mouse issue.
There's nothing I can do about it unfortunately. You have to do your due diligence and report it to Blizzard so they actually fix it.
Keep in mind you have to do all the steps in this order. You cannot let your new bindings-cache file generate before you have set up the bindings. That means no logging out or reloading the UI.
I have some info that might be of use regarding this issue with the free mouse cursor not working properly. I currently use an xbox controller at my PC and a Game Sir Attachment for my phone when I am steam-linking to my game. I noticed that when doing the initial set-up from this most recent update, my mouse cursor and targeting were WAY off or not working at all. I followed the exact steps that Munk put out in the 16th of last month, and it worked! However, to test my theory, I went and selected the "recommended Keybindings" on the set-up screen again, and boom the problem resurfaced. Now in my graphics settings, I have selected steam deck instead of xbox controller, and now I have no issues what-so-ever. I'm unsure if this is usefull at all but I had been trying to fix my cursor for a few hours now and Just found a fix and wanted to share. I hope this helps!
Applying presets doesnt work for me. No error message, just "has been applied"
Btw, is there any difference in Settings/Left Mouse Cursor and Primary/Left Mouse Cursor?
Console commands still return false for me
I'll report it to Blizzard as well ofc
huh for me the left click only nonfunctional if the cursor is hidden, but works when i click the right stick to enable the free cursor
What makes you think it doesn't work?
isnt that what this issue is about? Left click binding not working for ground aoe placement?
oh didnt read properly sry
the bindings didnt apply, so the inputs didnt work as i expected and the cluster showed binding icons (e.g. P3) instead of action bar icons
Also, when importing my manual backup, one of my interact keys wasnt restored
Can't reproduce any such issue.
None of the binding presets have paddle bindings if you imported one of the default ones.
Importing a preset will prune duplicates if you have not enabled allow binding overlap.
dupes in relation to what?
one action - many keybinds, or many actions - one keybind?
One action multiple keybindings.
You could have used something else like the Blizzard key bindings to set multiple interact keys with binding overlap disabled, but they would be pruned on import.
pretty sure thats what i did when i first set it up. Overrode the old keyboard binding, which was restored now haha
Did you start from empty preset or from deleted bindings cache? If thats important at all..?
Not a fresh cache, no.
Are there any debug toggles, so i could maybe get somethnig useful when I reproduce it later?
I have this issue too but Im on desktop.
i have the same question
cant configure button right mouse to r3 if anyone helps before the new update it worked i had a preset of steam desk that let me bind like this

I TRY TO DO how says but it appears me false all time
You have to make sure you have completely exited the game before removing the files.
When you start back up, you have to do all the steps before logging out in one go. Otherwise you have to go back to step 1.
If this still doesn't help, I can't help you. You need to report the bug to Blizzard.
this seems to be an ongoing issue with newly updated consoleport in classic WoW HC I could activate AOE spells and quest items just fine
only in MOP I cant use any items and have to manually click them with a normal mouse
Please just search for things every now and then. Not trying to be rude, but you're posting in the same thread where this has been discussed without even reading it.
If you want others to pay attention, you must pay attention.
Hello) Important FYI
I tried to research the problem and came to a fairly simple and reliable fix, without the need to delete anything.
First, I found that if you simply reset the bindings to default in the game menu, then SetBinding('PADLSTICK', 'CAMERAORSELECTORMOVE') starts to be set to True, that is, the problem goes away. No need to even restart or delete files.
I also found earlier that if you reset the bindings settings in the game to default, then the bindings-cache.wtf file becomes empty. That is, if this file does not describe any binding, then it is simply applied as default.
I restored my old bindings-cache.wtf from a manual backup, which contains my bindings, but always returns a bug, opened it with Notepad, found "PADLSTICK" and "PADRSTICK" by searching, and saw that NONE was set. I deleted these two lines, then went into the game and saw that the bug was not reproducible - I was able to set up left and right mouse button emulation in the ConsolePort settings without any problems. For fun, I closed the game, opened bindings-cache.wtf again and saw that the corresponding lines were set up correctly, that is, CAMERAORSELECTORMOVE and TURNORACTION. In the game itself, everything worked fine and correctly - AOE spells in quests finally worked.
I will also note that I tried to set a different value for the left and right mouse buttons in the ConsolePort settings, closed the game and saw that PADLSTICK and PADRSTICK were set to NONE again, which is why the bug returned. I believe that ConsolePort does not completely delete these lines when changing bindings, but simply sets them to None, which is why bindings-cache.wtf "breaks", and it is no longer possible to set them up for pressing the sticks of the mouse buttons.
From which it turned out that we have a simple fix - do not delete anything, do not backup, but simply open the file bindings-cache.wtf, search for "bind PADLSTICK " and "bind PADRSTICK " (with a space at the end, because there are many other bindings with the same letters at the beginning of the name) and either delete them, and then in game will set the sticks, or immediately write:
bind PADLSTICK CAMERAORSELECTORMOVE bind PADRSTICK TURNORACTION
After which launch the game, and everything will work.
I will also note that the export of old settings, apparently, contains these NONE, because when I tried to import from old settings, the bug returned.
Also, I'm probably blind, I didn't think to look at the link to your report on GitHub in the post above, where more or less it says about the same thing >.<
But in any case, I would like to inform you that a simple fix works for me - editing the bindings-cache.wtf file, and not completely deleting this file with the loss of all my bindings. I have tested it many times and it works 100%
@royal river None just means it's not set to anything, as in a cleared binding. There is no way to delete a binding other than clearing it.
Blizzard's bug is that it is impossible to set a binding if NONE is clearly specified. If the line is missing in bindings-cache.wtf, then the binding can be assigned without problems.
ConsolePort is not setting the bindings to none, it's setting them to nothing. And yes your assessment is correct, if the lines are not there it works fine.
Recent version has a workaround that prevents clearing out old mouse bindings if Blizzard ever decides to fix the issue.
Resetting to default has the same issue as removing the cache file unfortunately, but good to know. After removing the cache file you can set any button to the left/right clicks, but the added logic to never wipe mouse bindings should make it so that new users don't encounter this bug.
just wanted to point out that there are steps to temporarily fix this problem, without having to erase old bindings=)
Someone make a malicious weakaura that sneakily removes your regular mouse bindings and watch them scurry to fix the bug 😛
I'm not sure I can entrust everyone to figure out how to edit the file. Am I expecting too little?
as an option - add two methods. The first - with the indication of editing via Notepad, the second, simpler (if the first "didn't work"), but more painful - the one that already exists
I guess if a person uses addons, he can at least open the file using notepad)
I can also write a simple bat file a little later that applies the fix with one click and post it here instead of the steps that are offered here for the fix
Updated script that works more reliably and clears bindings beyond just stick clicks.
This script will clear all key assignments related to mouse-click emulation. It will also clear the key assignments you need for binding mouse clicks, since you cannot assign a key that is already bound to another action or was unbound in the past.
For example, if you see an error message in chat starting with:
“Failed to set binding CTRL‑SHIFT‑PADLSTICK to CAMERAORSELECTORMOVE”
- Close the game completely via the menu.
- Run the script.
- Enter CTRL‑SHIFT‑PADLSTICK into the script.
- Press Enter.
- Wait for patching.
Instead of CTRL‑SHIFT‑PADLSTICK, your error may show a different key name corresponding to the key you are trying to bind. Enter that name—it will be highlighted in blue (the first highlighted name; ignore the second one).
After patching, all mouse‑click emulation bindings in ConsolePort settings will be cleared, and the keys you specified in the script will be unbound (so you can assign them to mouse buttons).
If you are unsure what to enter, or if the key name in error message is shown as “none”, just press Enter and the script will attempt to fix the issue automatically.
The script will usually find your WoW installation folder automatically. If it cannot, simply move the script to the game folder (where “World of Warcraft Launcher.exe” is located) and run it from there.
It should work with both character‑specific and account‑wide bindings, and with both Classic and Retail versions.
You can download the script here:

This worked for me - thank you so much.
I don't know if this is the right place, the first post is deleted, but I have a mouse cursor issue. when I level up, the cursor unlocks and i can no longer turn the camera. i must re-lock it. obviously, that's not meant to happen, it's only meant to unlock the cursor when i click L3. This only happened after i installed the latest version, 3.0.33. the version i had prior to that was 3.0.2
I suddenly have an issue with the mouse cursor. Usually I play without it and using the crosshair to target. But now the mouse cursor just randomly shows up. It will stay a time and then briefly disappear just to be there again. I want the mouse cursor to be gone and dont show up at all except when I'm using my actual mouse. I did not do anything special or change any settings. What do I need to do to get this fixed again?
This also started happening to me as of today.
Very frustrating esp trying to use heroic leap and Sigils xD
I checked the cursor settings and they seem the same, updated addon and reset client with no luck.
Try reading/searching before posting.
Hi im really sorry i just cant find the right info, but my mouse just wont go away ive reset all my settings and everything einsalled etc but its always on my screen
If the cursor is moving around the screen while you're moving the camera, you're likely running Steam in the background.
cursor isnt moving on the screen the cursor is just on the screen and stays there even when i move it doesn't disappear anymore
So, @surreal bone @little cedar @rich cave, the mouse cursor can show randomly/get stuck on screen if the game deems that you're using your mouse. The game has flawed logic for this interpretation, and can be activated by other software on the computer. I would first and foremost try to exit any unnecessary background applications, and see if the issue persists. For me, Microsoft Teams and WSLg programs cause this issue.
thank you so much that was exactly it, it seems to have been chrome for me do you have any suggestions/solutions besides just closing it? if not thank you for the help 🙂
Unfortunately this is outside my control, and yours too. The addon can't tell the game that the mouse isn't active, and we're not likely to see any fixes from Blizzard anytime soon. These bugs have been in the game for some time. A fix would need to come from the game itself, but it's a niche issue and difficult to replicate.
ah okay thank you for the help was really scratching my head about it just wasnt understanding the issue i appreciate the reply
Chrome isn't necessarily bad itself. I use Brave which is a chromium browser, and it doesn't cause this issue. It's hard to tell what exactly causes it, because this is all closed source code.
ah fair yeah im no sure either it was fine with chrome yesterday too not sure why it changed
I didn’t have any programs running I usually don’t but I will try again today with nothing running and slowly add stuff till I figure it out lol. I know steam used to create issues but I keep that off unless in use
I have no other programs running, only wow and it pops up every few seconds just walking around dorn. It seems when I install it without. wtf folder that the cursor thing is fixed. Not trying to complain! Just adding more info
Thanks Munk.... I was able to figure it out. For me the issue was caused by Discord. Specifically by Discord's Game Overlay. I disabled it in the settings and everything is fine again. I'm so glad.
Hello all, same issues with discord overlay, thanks @surreal bone for the solution. seems to have been made 10 times worse with latest patch (don't know if patch from discord or addon)
Thank you so much for this information! I've been dealing with this issue for months now, thinking it was just my mouse being too sensitive, and ConsolePort constantly intercepting my mouse movements, causing the cursor to appear. But as soon as I disabled Discord Overlay for WoW, the problem completely disappeared.
@hollow fable , perhaps this information about the Discord overlay should be included separately, perhaps in the FAQ? Because for users who actively use Discord, the overlay is enabled by default, and I'm sure many people are experiencing this issue, thinking their mouse is simply being captured randomly, although it turns out that's not the case.
Ran script for missing mouse bindings and got the message: The system cannot find the path specified.

Successfully patched!
Backup file(-s) bindings-cache.wtf.bak have been saved. Did not fix the problem
OK, then manually edit the file.
and what file would that be?
Read.
TY, finally fixed it. This happened when I got a new computer.
Not sure if I should start a new thread.
My issue is when casting a location based spell. I like using reticle, and have been. Now I cant. the addon cant decide if it wants to target my mouse location or the reticle. and it shuffles back and forth. Ive messed with settings for a long time now. I cant find a fix.
Set your settings as they were, and disable Discord's game overlay.
O_o I did just start using the overlay... Thanks for the fast answer. I really appreciate it
Just updated my consoleport addon then jumped into the game, now my left joystick is controlling my mouse cursor and my character at the same time. Ideas on how to fix this?
Thank you
I'm having mouse cursor issues, also. Using Steam deck to play WoW. Had to delete WTF folder 3 times today so far & invoking the keyboard is a temporary fix, but then it always comes back. This happened after WoW's latest patch this Tuesday.
Blizz really botched the game with 11.2.7 patch. They also had 2 additional maintenance this week, telling me they know they have problems. Playing wow with a controller has been a game changer.
when I run this it says "no issues found, no patch needed"
There's another post further up that describes how to fix it manually if the patcher doesn't work.
thank you
the discord in game overlay strikes again.
which makes sense bc i didnt use the app on my old pc
Blizzard has btw confirmed that this issue is now tracked and will eventually be fixed.
oh thats good
Hi, sorry for the late reply.
Yeah, it looks like the bug has changed in the latest version of WoW. Now it breaks whenever I try to change the left-click and right-click bindings (except for empty). Because of this, the script isn't working quite right. I'll edit my script now.
updated script here

@hollow fable fyi
Don’t work
Hello, I’m having issues with my Cursor not going back to the center of my screen after I use touchpad/touch screen on my steam deck so I can’t select targets with my right stick click.
It used to snap back to center and I could touchscreen tap skills on WoW without it affecting my reticle targeting.
im having the same issue but after reading further up im not alone and it may be a game bug. if it persist i'l start start as a hunter in midnight so i can use fetch to loot and not have to click on corpses
You should not be clicking on corpses anyway. Use Interact With Target.
i would love to but my mouse pointer isnt snapping to the crosshair
Interact With Target doesn't require aim or crosshair. It just loots or interacts with whatever is in front of you.
Exactly. My cursor doesn’t snap back to cross hair anymore. Messes everything up when I use my touch screen for anything
The problem is that it used to snap back all the time. I could touch my screen to raid heal easier and almost immediately target something with my cursor using right stick
just found out yesterday there's something within the msi center app that causes the same issue the discord game overlay causes. msi center has a built in overlay that you can use through the microsoft game bar. when i unhighlight it from the game bar the random delatching from center stops
I’ll give this a try. Thanks
Updated to latest version and my left stick now controls my movement and cursor at the same time. Walking forward sends cursor to the top of my screen. I have “cursor disappears on movement”, but it doesn’t work. This might be Midnight pre-patch issues.
Or you might be running Steam.
I’m on steam deck I should mention.
The issues you describe are not related to any game or addon patch.
My apologies, after restarting SD and relaunching the issue is resolved. Thanks for the quick response
Having an issue with the cursor for abilities like heroic leap, etc. it seems to keep snapping back where the cursor is (hidden) on my screen instead of where the cross hair is targeting, like normal
Not all the time though? Not sure
Yea, the reticule doesn't stick with the cross hair
I have a similar issue. I often use my mouse along with my controller and I use two monitors. When my mouse is on my game monitor, it acts as the cursor and my controller will use its location for spells like my heroic leap. To compensate, when i'm done with my mouse, I move it to my second monitor so that my controller will start to use the consoleport cursor. This wasn't a problem until maybe last month.
Yea I feel like the mouse cursor isn't being disabled like it used to be with the reticle out, so any time it hovers over something interactive on screen, the reticle snaps back
I made a little video of what was happening, if it helps for you to see it
I would have just posted the video but it was 61mb for some reason 😭
im also dealing with that exact issue in the video above
Disable Discord's game overlay.
@pine lantern ☝️
perfect that seemed to fix it. thanks so much!
Oooh ok thank you! I will try this today, you're the best 😊
It seems to work! Yay thanks ✨
thanks bro, i was trying to find how to loot 😄 now i know
Hey there, I'm having trouble binding left mouse click, keep getting this error. i've tried a lot of things but nothing seems to help. I lost that keybind probably by mistake and can't seem to get it back 🙁
do as it says. Its a Blizzard bug which only blizzard can fix. You have to report to them so it can be fixed
as i said, didn't work
tried that aswell, both manually and with patcher. Patcher says there's nothing to correct, yet it doesn't work 🙁
I also am experiencing issues with the cursor. For example on the loading screen i will have to use the analog sticks over a selection and then use my actual mouse to click.
Here's an updated script for fixing an error when attempting to bind gamepad buttons to mouse click emulation. Details are in the attached post.
A big thank you to @glossy shoal who helped me investigate the issue
You can download script from here:

How do I change this I feel like this is the same thread
Okay I got the other binding off but it won’t let me map R3 and L3 as left and right mouse click
I’m gonna be real with you guys I’m new to pc how do I run a script to fix this
How do I stop my cursor from doing this while moving my joysticks?
Depends on what kind of device it is etc. Nice blanket.
Appreciate it 😂
I’m on steam deck. I have “hide cursor with movement” setting on too
Restarting my game seemed to fix it for now.
If you're using a PS5 controller, make sure PlayStation accessories is running and your controller is up to date, I've found I've had 0 issues as long as it's running in the background.
Not sure this is helpful foe you on steam deck but i get that when i accidentaly open two WoWs at the same time. Closing one of them fixes it for me.
My cursor is still snapping to center despite always show cursor being turned off and seems to completely disable the cursor when it does. Use Hardware Mouse Cursor option does nothing.
Activating Interface Cursor seems to cause a lot of stutter when opening certain panels, especially if those panels are modified by Addons. I have huge stutters and flat out fps freeze when opening the option dropdown menu from BetterBags from instance, and also when just clicking on a an item linked in chat (which has no interaction with interface cursor but causes stutter regardless).
I've been testing it and it is caused by Interface Cursor
Not sure why you think this is an appropriate place to talk about the interface cursor.
Not sure why you'd think being condescending is a proper way of communicating but sure
I didn't mean it that way, but I have to do so much house keeping in this server all the time, which takes time from other things.
My mouse cursor will not stay centered in Retail. I can fix the position in the settings but the cursor is just flickering between the set center and the previous position. Fresh install with settings exported from classic.
Edit - Discord overlay did not disable the first time. Seems like I just forgot to confirm it.
Having the same issue that a lot of people have already brought up with the mouse cursor popping backin every 5 to 10 seconds even without touching the mouse. I have already disabled all overlays, discord, steam, AMD, etc. I am playing via moonlight through my Xbox.
Is there anything else I need to check or configure? Could moonlight be the issue?
as of 12.0.5, mouse cursor hiding appears to be non-functional for me. None of the options are hiding it at all at the moment.
update: no longer experiencing this problem after updating today! cheers 🙏
My mouse cursor is still not properly hiding/centering.
Edit: Discord overlay was the issue.
I'm also having issues with the mouse cursor not hiding. It even remains visible when I use an actual mouse and hold down RMB to move the camera, which makes me think maybe it's an issue with some game setting/cvar/whatever that's been changed somehow, rather than a problem with consoleport specifically.
edit: turns out this was fixed for me by DDUing my GPU drivers and reinstalling them.
just FYI, I'm beginning to think the mouse cursor issue is something out of the scope of Console Port. When I toggle CP off, the mouse cursor still has the appearing/disappearing effect and randomly aims itself.
I believe the issue is with Discord.
I Uninstalled discord and now the cursor hides/is normal in WoW using CP
Even with discord overlay toggle off, the cursor still did the weird hiding/repositioning thing. Which is why i uninstalled to check it this morning
so just did some test dungeon runs. 3 full dungeons with no mouse cursor issues after removing discord. Using discord through Chrome browser instead. I'm not savvy enough to figure out the conflict between discord app and WoW...
i use discord in the browser now to contain it and havent had mouse issues
maybe try that, honestly its no different than client
i started doing that as well
Running into the same issue. I've had the discord overlay off for a while (>3 weeks w/ no issue). also tried killing discord and relaunching wow
Its driving me nuts 😮💨
Little weird - but making sure it was completely closed through task manager and relaunch wow worked. then I could open discord and use consoleport as normal. not sure what the issue is 🤷♂️
