well, ummm:
I think that we should have a channel for movies and tv, but not change the kdrama channel to being the general channel. Instead, how about we make a separate channel for western shows and change the kdrama chat to 'Eastern dramas' or something.
Not to sound divisive, but I've noticed that eastern dramas have a fundamentally different structure/feel than western dramas, which could end up clashing in discussions.
Other than that, the multiple threads option will have too many dead threads (unless many people want to talk about entertainment other than kdrama), where any illegal behaviors might go unnoticed, and will just be an extra pain for the staff.
These are just my thoughts as a regular of the kdrama chat, and I am open to more feedback on the matter. In the end, I'll go with what the majority says, but I think that it won't be a good idea to integrate the two sides together, it'll become overgeneralized and lose its charm, so to speak
okay that was a lot, but I hope you got my point
I do not mean any offense, and feel free to discuss stuff here
This proposed change is mostly due to things like people asking for anime channel / not a clear place for discussion about anime. It's not really a vote to change but more of an interest check and if anyone is against it to figure out the best way to approach it.
and yeah I get there's difficulty with threads rn where people don't really use them much
is there any reason not to have an anime chat then? Many servers have both an anime and a kdrama channel
atm we're more interested in threads in 1 channel as it makes it easier to expand / discuss multiple topics instead of limited to 2, will also consider separate channel for it
it's just... making a general channel makes the scope feels a bit too much, and there is already a little community of kdrama folk
Having a general channel would sorta prevent people from discussing about their favorite show, either cuz it's dominated by kdrama or anime buzz, and the show you wanna talk about might be different, sorta discouraging them from participating
idk, just doesn't feel right
And it might be just me saying this, let's see after some more discussion
@hearty quest would you consider changing the announcement message to address the anime issue and also another possible solution of a separate anime chat? I think that would be more representative of the situation
I agree with ath here, expanding the channel to all types of movies and tv shows will make it all messy and hard to moderate for example someone's talking about a specific movie, some people about a kdrama, some about cdrama, some about an anime, another bunch is talking about a certain English web series, all at the same time, it's just gonna make it hard to moderate and discuss in.
Instead, we could expand the kdramas channel to maybe something like Korean and Chinese multimedia and another channel for multimedia for other languages.
Or just a tv shows channel and a separate movies channel (altho i doubt the second arrangement is gonna be useful because i haven't seen many people talk about movies a lot as much I've seen them talk about dramas and web series').
Do suggest if y'all have any better ideas.
updated the poll
thanks for the feedback
main thing for different topics is a big assumption that people will use threads for separate topics but that may not actually be realistic
I mean, threads might be more useful for the anime chat, cuz some anime series are so big (attack on titan) that they might have an ongoing chat.
I don't think threads will be required if we can make a clear demarcation in the topics of both channels. People can talk about anime just like we talk about kdramas in #k-dramas currently.
kdramas can include cdramas, jdramas etc. as well, and we unofficially allow discussion, even if we revert back to kdramas to not go off topic.
But it's mostly kdramas so that won't be much of a problem
And talking about cdramas also mostly happens in kdramas, so pretty sure that's not an issue since not many people talk there about cdramas.
Yea
I feel like we should had the snowdrop channel to kdrama
Due to people not using it much
Im very agree with Ath and JB.
Mixing all together into one channel is kinda messing up the content.
and there a possibility that one topic may dominate another topic.
Since anime is also big thing alike kdrama. I know this is important to give opportunities to anime lover to have it channel itself.
anime channel!

It was supposed to be closed end of february or smth as far as i remember
yeah I'm gonna archive it
Kept it open cause it was just getting available on Disney plus then
makes sense
TV and movie channel
hello
i think a one channel for everything is ok
for movies, serials, anime, dramas and anime

HAPPY B DAY LISA BABY
yeahh! Happy birthday Lisaaa
@hearty quest any update on what decision the staff are making?
not yet, will get around to discussion with staff later tomorrow probably
but most likely gonna be a different channel
it is now opened in #anime
